I bought the same kit you're fitting here 2 years ago and haven't been brave enough to fit it. This video is what I needed to give it a go. I'll post back with the results.
I just did mine tonight! I wish I’d found this video before I did, but at the same time I went a slightly different route and came to the same place, so it’s all good. I ended up cutting the long length of coolant hose that comes out the passenger side giving myself a lot more freedom during the installation because I didn’t have to try to attach the hose clamp, tighten it, and attach that plastic hose clamp and fix it to the bracket all while working blind and one-handed up to my elbow laying on the passenger side. I just have an easily accessible splice on the passenger side now. I found that the hardest part about it was getting that long wire control cable through the right passageway. I ended up re-doing the whole setup three times because the first two times the control cable just wasn’t working. Each time was easier and easier, though, so it wasn’t completely wasted time. Now I’m scouring 240 dash videos hoping to catch a glimpse of a short bracket with a plastic retainer for wires. Since I tore the car apart weeks ago and then got sick, I can’t remember where it goes for the life of me! Thanks for sharing such great content!
I took a road trip with a friend, he saw a 240 for sale, we pulled over and he paid the asking price for the car. I purchased one from an auction 6 months later. That was the beginning of my Volvo journey.
LOVE YOUR STYLE! Question: is the Heater Control Valve the same (do you reckon) from the '86 240 you changed, and my '95 940? Great heat to no heat from one minute to the next. I'm hoping the cable simply came undone. Checking that first. But if I need to change the Heater Control Valve, (either ipd kit or the original from the Swedish Car site) is it likely to be similar or the same? Thx, Doug Day, Maine
