Thanks for all of the videos Ben, this is helping C3 owners for years later. Having videos like this helps when you just can't find the right pictures.

I had a very difficult time getting the shroud out and then the radiator.Now it's time to put the radiator back in and then the shroud.Any tips on how to install these items back in without damaging the radiator.

GREAT VIDEO. Thanks for posting it. I'm just finishing a two year, body off frame total restoration of a ONE OWNER 1975 , 4 speed and have the interior totally bare and the heater box is looking right at me, so it should be easy to do. This video is really a help to us Vette owners. Thanks Again !!

A big thanks from France! Great that you have taken the time to show nontechs, like me, how to.... now I hope I can find the guts to mess up the dash... Robert

I always thought my 78 vette got hot in the summer from heat from the motor on the floorboard. Now after seeing your video I think it may be the seals on the heater door flaps letting heat flow into the car with the heater off.The vacuum heater core water shut off may not be doing it's job... Thanks Ben!

A tough job. I had the seats, console, center guage cluster, and misc ducting out. Good time to fix 8-track player too. Glad to be done.

Boy o boy, I surely do remember doing this on my 73 Caprice, what a mess! Finally, I pulled out the passenger seat so I could get in there a little easier...I was surprised the heat/AC worked again afterwards, got lucky I guess...

At the end of the video you point out the vacuum actuator for the door. To adequately test it, it is recommended that you use a vacuum pump to open it and check to see if the gauge leaks down. Shade tree mechanic will push the door open and then stick his finger over the tube. If the door stays open--it's good! If it starts closing on you, it should be replaced as this creates a vacuum leak which will affect tuning.

GREAT video. REALLY appreciate the time and effort that goes in to making something like this. I am restoring a 1972 at the moment and it is very helpful. One thing I would like to say is the music is a tad loud for me to separate from what you are saying at times. ( I'm an old guy with so so hearing ) I hope next time as you are talking the music is muted maybe. Again...many thanks and look forward to more videos in the future.

+Dean Fuller Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. I made this video more than a year ago, and was experimenting on putting music in the video the entire way through. I have since figured out the video is enjoyed more without the music.

I have an 81 4spd and my fan not or is starting to make noise. I know heater core is extensive, and I look under the hood where heater motors usually are I see the a/C box. is my heater motor behind the box or through dash. ur video is the only heater related thing I've found so can u help a brother out.

I there a heater water shut off valve on the pipe goint to the heater? I mean a vacuum driven actuator that shuts off the entire heater. Thanks

Does it matter which hose is connected to the heater core. I mean can they be reversed and still work?
@TheCorvetteBen
@TheCorvetteBen 2 года назад
Yes BUT one outlet on the core/engine is 3/4" and the other is 5/8" so technically they only hook up one way
@senselessmonkee
@senselessmonkee 2 года назад
@@TheCorvetteBen I managed to use the same size hoses before but it's time to get that corrected anyway thanks!

my wife inherited her dads 78 10 years ago . i had drug it out of a collapsed metal shed where it had been sitting for 10 years . So she has not run in 20 years the smell of mice is unbearable . I have been wearing a respirator to rip out the interior . I did dump some fresh gas down its throat and it fired up faster than my Square body . No starting fluid it primed the fuel pump and kept running . No rot . Paint is hit and interior needs a ton due to mice but wrenches are turning so the wheels will be burning ! Someday !

Does it matter which way the 2 heater hoses hook up to the core? If they are reversed, can it cause a problem?
@TheCorvetteBen

I don't believe so on this particular core

@@TheCorvetteBen Thank you Ben. I'm replacing heater hoses on an 81 just because I haven't even started it in 8 years (I'm sad, and ashamed to say) but putting them back on the way they came off..they are in a bind - crossing over each other instead of laying side by side. I didn't think direction of flow through the core would affect anything. I'm switching them. Thank you for your time and guidance... it is greatly appreciated!

@@TheCorvetteBen Also..dreading the thought of having to replace heater core. That looks like more of a job than I am willing to tackle myself...unless, you know..It just has to be done. Again, thank you very much for your page, all your great videos, and guidance.

They should be different size hoses.
@Mid-American
@Mid-American 3 года назад
The hoses are different sizes. So, yes, note which is which because you will probably want to remove and clean up the stubs on the engine.

I couldn't hear you with all the background music. I don't watch instructional videos so I can tap my feet or hum along. I want to focus on the task. Please, use some tasteful music in the intro then kill it when you get down to business. Thanks buddy!

the video is ok.. not great.. helps alot to see what you need to do... however, not one mention of the engine side... id recommend watching this , yes... but watch more vids of other guys to see a more thorough way of doing this.. take your time.. its gonna be tough, key is to take ur time...
