Replacing the Main Board and Speakers on your TV is something you can easily do on your own. Just be sure to use genuine Samsung parts, and confirm that the part is compatible with your television model and type. For the replacement you will need an Open Jig tool and a discharge tool. Also, make sure you have a large enough area to lay your TV down, a soft blanket to protect the TV screen, and a friend to help.
To remove the Main board and speakers, first lay the TV face down onto the soft surface with the bottom of the TV near the edge. Remove the stand feet, and then remove the TV’s back cover. Next, insert the open jig tool into the latches on the bottom right or left side of the TV, twist it 90 degrees, and then lift up to disengage the hook on the bottom. Carefully slide the open jig tool up the sides of the TV to disengage the side hooks, and along the top of the TV to disengage the top hooks. Once the top and sides are disengaged, remove the back cover. Before moving on, it’s important to take a picture of the panel label. You will need this information when setting the option bytes later on in the repair.
Once you have a clear image, continue discharging the high voltage capacitor with the discharge tool. Discharging high voltage capacitors is critical and dangerous so please proceed with caution! Make sure you do this before disconnecting and removing anything! Once the capacitors are discharged, disconnect the SMPS cable, remove the display ribbon cable from the main board, disconnect the speaker cable, and then disconnect the IR/JOG cable. Next, remove the board assembly, and then remove both speakers from their mounts.
To install the replacement speakers and Main board, first place the new speakers into their mounts. Next, take the new board assembly, and place it back into position. Reconnect the IR/JOG cable to the main board, along with the speaker cable, and then reattach the display ribbon. Now, reconnect the SMPS cable, and reattach the back cover making sure to press firmly down on the top and sides to securely lock it in place. Finally, reattach the stand feet.
Once your TV is in place, run the Option Bytes setting to ensure your TV is operating properly and perform the Sound Test to confirm the speakers are working. Watch this video for full details.
