@@MitchHaman The RU-vid "Narcissits" improvised "professionals" would rather bump onto Apple + Best Buy pseudo "repair squad" in order to rant against them in their clips (although there would be good reasons in regards to Apple's mockery of a repair service that's actually geared towards encouraging customers to replace by buying a new apparel rather than repair).
Warning: Some models have a double sided adhesive strip down each side holding the display in. If you pry on the sides without removing this you risk cracking the display. Don't ask me how I know. There are white tabs on the top ends of these adhesive strips. I think if you unclip the top and top corners of the display you can see in and pull on these tabs with narrow nose pliers. After that you can unclipped the sides. I found this tape on an x360 Envy15-ee00002na
@@browsin2007 I was taking ours apart to fix broken hinge. I scratched up the plastic case and the metal hinge and used a metal filled epoxy to glue it back in place. Seems to be holding OK.

I'll feel more confident now in regards to eventually replace my HP ENVY x360 screen :). btw I would've removed the protective transparent plastic film from the screen _after_ having tested it - even keep it if it doesn't interfere with the touch functionality, just to make sure to keep accidental scratches away (it's a customer's choice, and its pleasure to peel it off if that's what he/she wants - it also shows the customer that you've replaced the screen with a brand new one in a tangible manner).

I gave my HP Envy x360 laptop to a local "professional" pc repair guy. From the off, he struggled with getting the screen out. He kept saying he was scared of breaking it etc etc. I cut my losses and told him just to return the faulty laptop.

13:50 I like to flip the laptop and lay the glass side down on a flat surface, then press the cover into the glass. I've cracked a few screens in the past pressing the glass into the cover. This way the glass is always flat and never bent, greatly reducing the chance of a crack.
Thanks for this video. I have an HP Envy x360 ee0013dx and need to replace the screen. I dropped it down the stairs and it freaks out sometimes and interprets the cracks as touch (idk how it still works as well as it does). I needed to check a video to know what I was doing and shoe my friend, who is more experienced and helping me. From now on I am going to take more precautions with my laptop, like carrying it in a padded laptop bag, and seeing if I can get a screen protector and a cover for the top (behind the display) to absorb the shock of any impacts that do happen. That housing may be made out of metal, but it does not protect the screen from being broken entirely. The first time I dropped it, it fell upside down, while closed, on hard wood flooring from a 4.5ft height. I plan to use the touch screen for drawing so I need it to function, so I will be selective about which screen protector I choose to use.
i have owned the x360 15-bq1xx for years, granted i added a M2 as the main OS drive leaving the old HDD inside for extra storage and doubled the ram from 8 to 16gb, it got me through my computer science degree and runs games like GTA V smoothly with maxed out graphic settings. the fact that multiple people are having this exact issue (myself included) tells me HP screwed up somewhere along the production process. i have a screw that somehow popped out this morning when i was closing my laptop lid and the bottom left part of the screen has now popped up and when i moved the lid on the laptop some plastic pieces fell out making me think a clamp or hinge inside has broken. HP probably cut corners during the manufacturing and used a very cheap plastic.

Hello First I would like to say great video you replaced the screen very smoothly and the laptop looks like new I wanted to ask is it possible to replace it with a higher brightness screen? because some hp envy x360 15 inch laptops have screens that are 250 nits(amd version) and some are 400 nits(intel version).
Is this same for HP ENVY x360 - 15-bq101na 2018? I guess some of the arrangement of cables are different? I saw some tutorials that detach the entire screen all together? Thank you

I have the same Notebook, but my problem is with the top display casing that is damaged at the hinges area on the left hand side.. so will I need to follow your procedure but instead of unplugging the display cables, just unscrew the hinges from the top display casing and replace? I see many that say 13-t or 13-y they look about right but i am having trouble understanding the differences. Will they fit or work as well?
The bottom right corner of my screen popped out and there’s something keeping it from going back in (ironically I think it’s supposed to keep it from popping out 🙄) how can I fix it?
I'm actually in the EXACT same boat. Just got my new screen since the metal piece that popped out cracked it upon trying to close it. I THINK there is a screw that holds the screen to the hinge, which may have came out. But right now I'm realizing I don't have the correct driver to access the battery. The little star tips. Any idea the size? And did you figure out your issue?
Hard to see on my small screen. Mine seems to have the glass inside the back case - is that the same with yours? If so, just how hard should i pull? I'm very concerned about cracking the glass. My glass is fine, it's my hinge which needs replacement.

I have a laptop just like that one. It only charges when it's turned off. Plus, I think one the USB SS outlets isn't quick charging anymore. Any idea on what could be the problem?

@@TimsComputerRepair Is the screen model only found on the back of the (cracked) screen? I use my laptop constantly and would feel better about disassembling the necessary components when I'm actually completing the repair. From my experiences, the less I take stuff apart the better the end result (dong it multiple times has gotten me in trouble because I end up getting fairly comfortable with the process and it's that comfortability that causes me to have extra screws or bolts when I'm finished). On another note, watching this tutorial has completely put my mind at ease. I prefer to do all of my own repairs because you never know when that knowledge will come in handy down the road. So I replaced the screen with no issues, the biggest problem im having now is that the lid isn't sensing when it is closed. The top half is tight and the magnets are going thru the screen, I just dont know why it isnt turning off.

my screen cracked a few years ago and continues to get worse.. i took it to a computer shop maybe 2 years ago and they told me it cant be fixed.... are they ignorant? should i continue to look for a fix ??
