Thank you for this video! I now don't need to buy a new laptop. I simply ran CPUID to find out which memory I needed, bought it, and watched your video. My husband and I were able to save ourselves a ton of money. My laptop is so much faster now!
@@TechBizmo they don't want people to upgrade their ram for some reason, yet they sell exclusive models with exclusive specs to bestbuy that don't allow for upgradable ram. I'm tired of this market tinkering, thanks man.
Thank you so much! Now I just need to find the courage to open the laptop that cost me a lot.. to me, right... I know there a lot more expensive laptops.
Thank you very much for posting this video. I had to replace the existing battery with a new one and used the video to do so. After contacting HP and the store where I purchased it from I was led to believe that this was such an onerous and difficult task that it was strongly suggested I leave it up to a professional to replace the battery. Really? Why would anyone make such a normal task as replacing a battery so difficult? After being quoted almost $300 for the replacement I knew the answer! That's when I started looking for answers and stumbled upon your video. I ordered a new battery online for approximately $50. It arrived two days later and I was pleasantly surprised that it even included the two different screwdrivers. Without exaggeration, it took me about 5 minutes to replace the battery. As expected it works perfectly. Thanks again for the informative video....I even used the same coloured fibre cloth!
HP states SDRAM for it's RAM. So if you're using DDR4, can you please link the 8gb model crucial memory you're using. That would significantly improve the memory HP is using.
Hey dude! I just upgraded my RAM with this: CT16G4SFRA32A What I replaced was Samsung 8GB 1Rx8 PC4 3200MHz RAM. Pretty okay, I guess, bot not *that* great either. Part number: K033000152136C8C34. My model: HP ENVY x360 15-es0757ng
I’m just double checking if I can upgrade this computer if I buy the basic stuff. I want to use this for animation and gaming. And I’m happy to see that I can.
Can you mention the exact model or specs in the description because some Envy x360 come with soldered memory and have different internals etc. Thanks for the excellent content though
Just bought a 2024 x360 1 Terabyte SSD and 16GB ram for $610.00 at Best Buy… amazing how laptops are so cheap now.. I guess in a few years I will upgrade it…
Hey! Really appreciate your hard work on the video, it was amazing. I recently tried upgrading my ENVY x360 2-in-1 15z-ey000 for more RAM, the process went all smoothly thanks to your video, but now my keyboard completely stopped working. Is there anyway I can fix it/do you know maybe what could have caused it? Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching! Check the keyboard connector, it may have loosened during the process. If it looks good, remove the connector and reseat it. Sorry about your troubles!
How do i know which specific model i have? I have seen tutorials and i have seen 3 different HP Envy x360 with similar but still different internals. And where can i purchase the upgrades?
You can purchase upgrades from HP themselves, or what I recommend is amazon. And unfortunately, I can't know the model of your system unless I see it. Look into the BIOS, you'll see it there. :)
I have the same as you except I have AMD Ryzen 7. I have an issue where the computer goes to black screen and won’t wake up OR sometimes crashes and restarts. Both are without warning. Is this why you upgraded?
@@RudyCantGame well i changed my ram from 8gb to 32gb it's doable, however i didn't use this tut i used a different one. reply to my comment if you want it
I wouldn't do anything to put them back on, and I didn't. I'll just buy new ones in the near future with new adhesive, so I can take them off as needed. The original adhesive is designed to be able to come off. Hope this helps! :) Sorry about the rubber strips! :(
I bought this laptop last week with 1tb upgrade ssd. But it's freeze and stuck on logo. Can you please tell what I the issue? Is it with bios or ssd?. Thanks
Unfortunately, I sold this machine back in 2021. The process is very straightforward, and you can base it off of another laptop guide for changing the thermal paste.
Hi, thanks for the video. I have a question, i have the same laptop as the one in the video with 8gb memory, could you please recommend me an specific memory to upgrade my laptop? Thanks!
I recommend any of the reputable brands like Kingston, adata, Samsung, SKhynix, or crucial. Most DDR4 SDRAM are compatible with this model. Sorry for the late reply!
Hi, could you please tell me where can should I get a replacement battery for this laptop - I have the same model and my battery discharges really quickly. Also what is the battery reference number please.
Hey! thanks for this amazing tutorial! I have a similar one (x360 15-drxxxx) with just 8/256 GBs. I intend to upgrade to 16 Gigs and at least 512GB storage. Do you know if I will have to remove the current nvme ssd to put the other one in or are there more than one connectors? Also, how does the device boot off an empty SSD? Like.. theres nothing on it to boot off, so does the Laptop have some sort of workable BIOS with booting methods?
Hey, so I just upgraded mine and as far as I'm aware in all the hp x360 lineup they only have 1 m.2 slot. Now yours could be different but you will have to see if there is a manual or something online for it. And as far as opening the bios that's something any motherboard I ever worked with can do. He didn't open window bc you will have to reinstall that. But opening the bios will allow you to select witch drive to boot from. So you will need an 8gb flash drive with windows installed on it to re-install windows on the laptop. There are plenty of tutorials on how to do that just type in "how to install windows" and you will have a plethora if video tutorials showing you how.
@@zainshah1453 Hi - Did this (to access the bios) work? Also, how did you clone the existing SSD? The vid shows how to remove and reinsert, but doesn't show how to do the cloning. Is there a vid for this? I'm a bit of a novice at this, but willing to give it a go.
Can you tell me if this model is possible to change the RAM? And would it be possible for 32gb ram or 16gb ram? model: HP Envy X360 2-in-1, 14, I5 1335u 8gb 512gb
I just did an ssd upgrade waiting for the ram memory and wanted to upgrade wifi card as well but card is under the motherboard! Making it harder to replace!!
Hi, Thank you for making this video. I have an ENVY x360 Convertible 15-dr1xxx, but I can't figure out which RAM to grab to upgrade. I want to upgrade to minimum 32GB so I looked up what is recommended by HP, but there were a lot of options and I don't want to grab something that requires too much juice or something that could harm the computer. Do I have to check the compatibility with the processor (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10210U CPU @ 1.60GHz 2.11 GHz)? If so, do you have any recommendations? Also is it recommended to upgrade storage as well? Mine came with 512GB.
You’re not going to harm the computer by putting in incompatible RAM. As long as you get DDR4. To be honest, most DDR4 RAM will work with your system. If you feel the need to upgrade the SSD, go for it! :)
According to the manual of my HP Envy x360 Convertible laptop, I can only upgrade to a maximum of 2x8GB, with a maximum of 2666 Hz. Can I still go higher?
The way I’ve always done it is to create a system image and then flash said image to the new SSD. Another way is so just copy and paste the data from the SSD to an external HDD and back to the new SSD.
I have the same laptop and replaced my SSD drive. When I boot the laptop to my windows 10 installation media it can not find the SSD drive. Any thoughts? I can see the disk listed in the BIOS and configuration tab.
I'm looking to play pc games that require 16 g of RAM. My current HP envy x360 has 12G RAM what would I need to purchase to get to 16G? I'm really new with computers so this might be a silly question but what does upgrading the SSD do for the laptop? Thank you!
The SSD is the component that stores all of your information. You may want a new SSD because you recently ran out of storage, or you just want a newer, faster SSD. If your system has 12GB of RAM, then I would assume your system has 1 4GB stick, and 1 8GB stick. To upgrade to 16, you'll need to purchase another stick of 8GB, and replace the current 4GB with that new 8GB stick. Its pretty straightforward! Let me know of you need anymore help. :)
does anyone have any advice for how i can understand computers better im so lost in this comment section and even hp's support website on how to upgrade memory and id like to know whats up
Most DDR4 SDRAM will work in this system. When I had this system i went through several different sticks and several different brands. All with no trouble.
@@TechBizmo Thanks for that quick response 👍 so my system currently has 8gb of ram I dnt know what is the maximum it can take are can I put one stick of 16 with the 8. Or should they be the Same?
With one 16 and one 8, you’ll be running 24GB at Dual channel, it should work! And of course! Let me know if you need anything else my dude. The maximum in this system is 64GB I believe.
I did a similar upgrade to my Thinkpad X1 Carbon. There is a way to do it without going to the trouble of reinstalling the OS. You need to have a HDD Cloning software and a external case for the type of SSD/NVMe you wantto install. Both are pretty cheaper and useful for you in the future as well. (If you buy a Samsung or Acron SSD, you will get the cloning Software for free). So you put the New SSD in the case connect it to the Laptop, clone the entire SSD to the new one. Turn off the system once completed, swap the SSDs and "Voila" your laptop runs on the new SSD. The old one, can be kept as a backup recovery point. I do this and update it with an up to date clone once in a while. IF not, you can use it as a portable External Hard drive, It will be fast and light weight. Hope this helps. Peace.
Hey bro, I see that my laptop has a intel optane 16gb+256gb ssd. Can we just upgrade using WD 1TB ssd nvme. Does that mean we will be loosing the optane technology of 16gb. I am not sure of it. So just checking and thanks for your help in advance. My model is HP ENVY x360 - 15t-dr000
Hi, Intel Optane is integrated into the SSD. Depending on whether or not you opt for an SSD with optane is what your answer will be. If you get a WD 1TB with optane, then there you go! Otherwise, most SSDs don't include optane.
I doubt you'll see much of a difference. I resorted to an SSD without optane in this system at some point. I didn't see any difference. But it's really just different for everyone.
@@TechBizmo short update. I upgraded it to 64 gigs and i love it. Its not enough for heavy CAD designing or huge minecraft mods with max render distance, but im still satisfied with it
Is this a Good Ram For Gaming!? Im curious cause i Game and use my laptop to browse the web alot and im looking for the best upgrades i can do to my envy .. lmk suggestions
1. You talk too much with no information 2. You need a static pad, and grounding strap. 3. Where is the other SSD slot. information that is handy. Good basic information. bad safety, and technique.
1. The point of my videos is to talk through the process to make the viewer more comfortable 2. I was wearing a grounding strap on my ankle, grounded to the metal frame of the desk 3. There is NO other ssd slot.
