How to Replace the starter motor on the Honda Civic 2012 to 2015 

Mounting bolts are 14mm, manifold bracket has 2 10mm and 1 12mm. You dont need to take off the exhaust

Wd 40 on the exhaust bolts and very carefully use an impact wrench to get them off. I did it and it was easy.

Getting the exhaust pipe off was a non starter for me, so I had to work around it. The biggest hassle in my case, was removing all of the electrical connectors, in a very limited space, without breaking them. It was very difficult to see how each connector, dis-connected.

In a perfect world of non existant rust and corroded bolts this video would work..😂😂

This was very clear, well photographed and narrated. The instructions were 100% accurate. Even the clear view of the swivel socket and extension through the right wheel well was spot on, the only way you will get to that top starter bolt for sure, since there is no room to move a ratchet between the starter and the bulkhead. Seems that Honda installed the starter and oil pan then 3D printed the rest of the car around it. Pathetic and greedy engineering if you ask me.

What’s the difference in the process for a cng vehicle

Just paid $1200 to replaced starter Motor at Honda Dealer. Should have watched this video.

To anyone starting out on this job, do not be mislead by how easy they make this look. This is not an overly complicated job, but don’t take it too lightly. It’s definitely frustrating, and not an easy one. Even going about it as they say exactly, there is a VERY finite space to work with. Not near as much as it looks like in this video. This is a time consuming and quite frustrating job, and will test the limits of your mental dictionary of profanity. I’m not sure I could recommend going about this a different way, because this is the only way I’ve done it. But there are several videos out there of people going through the wheel well, but it looks like it’s a pain regardless. I’m not a professional auto mechanic, I spent years working on aircraft, so I have plenty of mechanical aptitude I’m not sure I’d recommend this task to a beginner DIYer. Good luck. "install the upper starter bolt" she made that sound so smooth and easy didn't she? For some reason they skipped that whole part didnt they? and those dont look like female hands thats for sure. BEWARE! Just guiding the starter into position with the wires connected is a task by itself, notice they skipped that part too. If your not mechanically inclined, dont waste your time. From underneath you literally cant see the top bolt because the way it designed. Makes it almost impossible for one person to use a mirror to see the bolt holes location while trying to insert the top bolt with your other hand. These videos are deceptional, the engineers actually design these cars on purpose to attack the DIYers. The way I did it was inserting the top bolt into the starter BEFORE putting the starter into position, letting the bolt hang gently on the starters top hole, bolting the lower bolt, then going back to the upper bolt to tighten it. Listen to Jason and remove the intake. Good luck and BLM(the statement).

Just did this and now my power steering light, and VSA system light is on, anyone run into this ?

hahaha... remove a section of exhaust pipe to change the starter! No problem... in California or Arizona maybe! Rust ffs RUST! Everyone outside of Cali and AZ, do yourselves a favor and go top down.. yes remove the intake manifold! Once the intake is clear the starter is completely accessible! Don't even need to lay down under the car or frig around with jacks and stands!

This video provided almost no useful information for this job, literally no more helpful than a quick audio narration. No bolt sizes, tips for removing any of the connectors.

You call this a number manual and yet you skip all the details....pftt! No good!
