How to replace the Tail Light Assembly & bulbs on a 2006 Mercury Montego

The tail light assembly on the passenger side of my 2006 Mercury Montego filled up with water and shorted out the LED lights. In this video I'll show you how to replace the tail light assembly, and the turn signal and back up light bulbs. I also added a couple of tips to help this from happening to you.
For anyone interested, I bought my tail light assembly in Florida at "Garden St. U-Pull-It" salvage yard for $25 dollars, but I believe they have locations across the states. Here's the link to the salvage yard:

You have the best video on how to do this. Never understood why in other videos people take their whole car apart just to take this out. Good tip on the silicone caulking too. That's exactly what happened to mine. Thanks a bunch. 🙂👍👍

Just had to replace my 05 Montego passenger tail light.....ordered off of ebay for a total of $200....the local junk yard wanted $450

Wow!! I’m surprised the junkyard wanted that much. That’s the price of a new one I believe.

i surprised you found one i need one for my 05 montego but ever time i go to pull a part there aways missing off the montegos i live in ohio which junk yard you found that one

I live in Florida. It took me a year to get my hands on one. I checked the junkyard’s website every week and every time I found a car, they were either gone, or not working or had water in them. It was hard to get one. You have to keep checking.

I have a problem with my brake light not turning on. I already changed the side plug but the brake light does not come on.

If your backing up light and your turn signal work but not the LED lights, most likely your LED lights went bad and you'll have to replace the entire assembly.
