dead Turbo Electronic Actuator?

Finally I bought the necessary part and time to change!
It was easier than I thought to change!
But was the result what I hoped for, or do I have to look further?
------------------
After getting some good advice, after I posted the previous video, I had to go out and do a quick "listen for mistakes" test!
The activator or Solonide, which controls the turbo may be dead!
It should make small engine noises when you turn on the ignition on these cars, and certainly the rest of Toyota's D4D engines.
On my Land Cruiser, the Activator is completely silent and I can see no signs of life.
Could there be a separate fuse that controls this? I'm missing the instruction book, and I'm not sure if I might have overlooked such a trivial mistake?

The videos are made by an untrained mechanic! All the videos are therefore to be regarded as my own experiences, and no conclusion. The videos show what I have done, and the result does not always have to be as desired. Sometimes things go directly wrong, and then I try to find out what went wrong, and try to set a better example so that others will not have to make the same mistake as me.
The videos were filmed by myself, and it may have been unknowingly missing to include ALL the details. I try my best to find out what I do and what I find out. But getting cameras in the right places is not always easy!
Very important!!! Do not take any chances with safety, neither your own nor anyone else's! Never work under a car, without and double security. Things can happen, so you must always have extra safety in case something should break or overturn, etc.
Working on cars poses a danger no matter what. So be aware, and if you do not feel 100% sure of the result, rather ask others to help you or double check what you have done, before you expose yourself and others to danger!

I see that the day I get this working again, I will have to make a separate video, summarizing the whole process. This has taken time and money. Might be a good idea to simplify the information so that others have to go through everything the same as me!

As guy b4 ask do u hear a buzzing sound that means it has power and it is opening turbo veins also u said the arm was stiff turbo cud need taking apart and servicing I had done dis to my Prado.

No sound when I turn on the ignition now! So it indicates that it is not getting power!? Haven't had time to look at it again. But everything can indicate a fault with the power / cable. The arm was sluggish, but I lubed it up, and moved it, until it was much looser again. Greeting Pål (Paul)

Hello. Yes, of course it could be a faulty wire! I haven't had much time to look at this one for a long time now. It had to come out of the garage again. Hope to be able to check further soon, but autumn is here very quickly. Greeting Pål (Paul)

Another know problem is the wiring loom which runs to the actuator can wear through over time and not supply power to the stepper motor. It runs along the edge of the sump from memory.. run a multi-metre on the pins to see if there is a correct circuit…

Yes, it must be quite common for cables to be gnawed into pieces. The car finally returned to the garage 2 days ago ( got my Camry done ). The plan to measure all 5 wires to the activator. I'm considering putting the original one back as well. Hope to find time one evening in the coming week. Consider what else I should take at the same time, now that I may have to start dismantling more in the engine compartment, to get to the wires.

@@betimsulejmani6205 Hello. Yes, I have to check the power before and after the driver ecu. We did not get power down to the motor unit. Have been and had error messages double checked at a workshop now. Will bring the car home again in a few days. They also believe that there is probably a wire break. BUT it is possible that your proposal may also be valid! I also thought to double check if there is contact in the 2 wires + / - from the ECU to the engine. Greeting Pål (Paul)

hi there thanks for you channel. can I please get some help from you, I just started to get some siren type noise from the car around 1500 rpm, I checked the map sensor for cracks but he is fine. so it looks like a beginning of turbo failure, or what do you think ? and can I still safe the turbine by cleaning it or something ? nice greetings Florian

Hello. Unfortunately, you face a number of challenges with our old Land Cruisers / PRADOs.. Unfortunately, I have not been able to finish my car. But still have hope. Siren sound, sounded strange but my english understanding is not perfect!!! I associate a siren with an artificial sound. A howling sound or should I say winking light, as in the form of a bearing that is about to wear out. I don't know if I can find the right words then!!! After all, the turbo is stored, and when it starts to wear, you will experience a metallic sound. Which can probably become quite high-frequency. Fortunately, I have not experienced this myself, with the exception of wheel bearings on the wheels. But imagine a Turbo bearing that is about to give out will make a very nasty sound. You can also have a leak of air, but then the sound will probably be more like a tire losing air. But of course everything depends on how big the leakage etc. Are you getting any error messages? Sorry for the slightly bad definition. English is not my main language. Greeting Pål (Paul)

Hi my friend. Can you please tell me how many pins are on the plug of your original turbo actuator? And if same as the new one
@bildillamagasin
@bildillamagasin 11 месяцев назад
Hello. My old and new have the same number of pins. I think there are 4 in a connector + 2 in the 12v connector. I actually tested my old one tonight. (posting a little video tomorrow!) Then I gave it 12v straight from the battery. It worked both ways. I now suspect one of 3 errors: 1... Wire break between controls inside the car, and the motor that controls the valve. 2... Effect control inside the car. 3... error on the sensor part of the new and the old controller/engine unit in the engine compartment 4.... ??? Greeting Pål (Paul)

@@naimabdullah3686 Hello again. Yes... checked the engine part itself last night. Video coming later today. But yes... it fingered with direct 12v from the battery. But unsure if it is the sensor part that may be broken, or wiring, or the controller inside the car. Should have checked this earlier, but so much has happened, which has required my efforts in other areas :( Greeting Pål (Paul)

No Unfortunately. You got sick again, so I haven't had time to check more. But suspect an electrical fault. But I have to recover, and try to troubleshoot further. It is too expensive to put it away in a workshop here in Norway. Just end up paying a lot for them to start at the same place I started at.. Greeting Pål (Paul)

Takk. Men dessverre så er det en annen feil, som stopper videre gledesutbrudd :( Må samle mer pågangsmot, og finne info om hvordan jeg skal måle meg til om det er noen skulte ledningsbrudd.

Does the new actuator make the buzzing sound when the ignition is on before starting the engine?
@bildillamagasin
@bildillamagasin Год назад
NO... I probably think the same as you, I think ;) Must find a wire break, or a fault in the control of the current. Have to figure out how to measure myself, and what to measure, when things are right! Maybe the original part is fine too 😥
@SwizzeRPaul
@SwizzeRPaul Год назад
@@bildillamagasin the dashboard lights seem to turn on after the ECU performs the startup checks. I believe the lights would show up immediately if the wiring would be damaged. To test my theory you could unplug the actuator and check if the lights come at the time you turn the ignition on.
@bildillamagasin
@bildillamagasin Год назад
@@SwizzeRPaul The engine light is on all the time, while the other lights come on after a few seconds, as it did before. In the beginning, this was a few times, then it disappeared, to come back the next time you started.
@SwizzeRPaul
@SwizzeRPaul Год назад
@@bildillamagasin I also find the new actuator to be fishy as it doesn't match the design of the original. I suggest you try an oem second hand one without installing it - just pull the plugs of the current one and fit them into the second hand one then check for changes.
@bildillamagasin
@bildillamagasin Год назад
@@SwizzeRPaul Yes, I have to take out the contacts on the new one anyway, and then try to measure it against the old one, to see if they can seem to work the same. Unfortunately I've sold my other LC120 so I can't compare against it. I thought I saw a video of someone measuring the wires a long time ago, but I haven't been able to find it again.
