I just wanted to say thank you. Your excellent video allowed me to replace my water pump without much of an issue on my Mazda 6 2011. Figuring out the right angle to twist the pump to get it out of that tight space was a bugger, but other than that easy peasy.
Just a tip, the pulley screws are designed to screw in the base of the old water pump holes and it pushes against the block to push the pump out That's why the pulley screws are a bit larger. Mazda kept it a secret though so u have to pay them.
@@staceyrizzo311 the wider bolts are designed to be placed in the old water pump it will widen the holes on old pump that way it will push against the engineblock pushing the pump out. Mazda do it that way cause the old pump wouldn't be needed anymore. It's like rethreading the pump holes with the bigger screws it want hurt the screws at all it just rethreads the water pump holes. Note go slow in round pattern on old water pump only not the new one. It's one of those hidden tricks they want tell you
It was more stubborn than I had thought it would be , I was thinking it would just wiggle off I guess but it did take a bit of persuasion. I had used my big pry bar. Great job tackling this and thanks for watching
This one has a very minor leak and it's the type of leak you can only find with coolant dye. Basically the only time it leaked was while driving and you couldn't see it idling or other wise. The fact it lasted so long is pretty remarkable though . Thank you for watching
only good thing is no crap gaskets at all... everything is o rings..... i feel bad for any mazda v6 owners , water pump means remove engine ...yup that must suck ass
my mazda 6 2013 with only 56,000 miles needs a water pump... never will buy a mazda again, so many problems , ac newcompressor ,new alternator ,new idler pulley, new tensioner, clear coat failing, needs a new cat converter witch dealer will be replacing free because im under 80,000 miles... new breaks at 35,000 everything rubber is falling apart....new cv axles both sides,,,, never again after this car dies when i bought it was precertified warranty just ran out in oct.this year...was one owner old lady got it at 26,000 miles
You must have gotten a bad one, my 2009 2.5 i sports has had zero issues and it has 139k miles. It still has the original water pump but I will be replacing it. I think the lady who owned yours first was not keeping up with maintenance well like oil changes. Cat converters should outlast the car.
