Cómo reemplazar la cadena de distribución del motor Toyota Corolla VVT-i. Años 2000 a 2015. También motor Dual VVT-i How to replace timing chain Toyota Corolla VVT-i engine. Years 2000 to 2015. Also Dual VVT-i engine.
Peter i just want to thank you from cincinnati ohio, i have watched many of your videos, and changed my timing chain in my 2000 corrolla and i must say it was a job in the car. But because of you i was able to do it. GOD BLESS MY FRIEND. and thanks for looking out for people who cant afford to pay these high prices... Jim Warren
What an informative video, I understood the process and his explanation reinforces information I already knew. I feel confident to do the job and the procedure in the book makes sense.
Thank you for the confirmation, Peter! I knew from the past to need to change timing belts but when I checked into my 2000 Corolla, I was told it was needed. So I looked in here and found conflicting information about type of belt/chain or need to replace. I know to trust your videos and you confirmed what I was told in the first minute. Thanks again!
Thanks Peter, I have a 2009 matrix 1.8 L I have been hearing a slight clatter in the region of the timing chain, I had a mechanic drive the car, he was trying to convince me it was something else. From what I learned in school, if the chain gets stretched the the toppets will clatter. Your video took me back to college days. Now I have to trouble shoot new error codes U0100 & C2123.
Thanks for the video it's help me a lot. Because I'm new mechanic and I tried to learn from one of our worker but he never show me how to do things like this. Thanks again. *I* *hope* *you* *understand* *my* *English*
GREAT video and I like how you make timing cams and crank for extra easy chain installation. My only concern and a great confusion point to many is that when you rotated the engine assembly and tried to line-up the yellow chain markings on the cams, it did not work. Reason is because engine was in a "false" TDC (as in 360⁰ out of phase with correct cams). If you had continued to rotate the assembly, the paint markings you made would have been directly oppostive of each other instead of touching/aligned. Again: GREAT video! P
Like he says, it might take a 100 rotations or so for that chain to fall in those yellow spots again, those marks are for 1st time timing chain installation only and doesn't mean they are going to fall in the timing Marks every rotation.
Thank you, I was looking for a video that shows someone turning the crank by hand to see if it was normal for the chain to "snap" and give slack between the 2 camshaft sprockets. I guess it's normal if yours is doing it too.
Thanks for the videos Peter! Seems like you are the only one showcasing the problems I have. Unfortunately, your commentary is hard to understand in English, and don't seem to be straightforward and succinct. Can you enable close caption (write it beforehand) and get straight to the point?
Iso kiitos!
Its possible to change it while the engine is in the car, you rotate the engine to the chain link is on top then you attach the new chain to the old chain and rotate the engine so the new chain is replacing the old on smoothly while rotating the engine around.
Hi Peter Finn... I have a 2000 Celica gt... I have to replace the valve stem seals.. Since I have to take the Cam shaft off to access the valve stems I'm going to be replacing the whole timing assembly from both upper sprockets to the crank sprocket... I also have the chain tensioner and chain guides... When it all goes back together do I follow these steps? And also what would be the torque specs for the bolt for the crank sprocket and for the Cam sprockets.. Thank you in advance.. And great videos by the way... I'm fixing my celica from watching your vids... Even though I gotta replay it a few times and wear headphones to understand you lol. 👍😀
I took my oil pan off yesterday at work and I found a small piece of plastic that was maybe 12 mm long that got caught inside the pickup tube. Was a dark amber color so I am convinced that it's a piece of the guide. Is this possible to replace with the engine still in the car?
Excellent video! I have a 2009 Corolla... the suggested repair to tighten the drive belt and the suggested repair is replace the VVTI drums. How complicated and expensive is this repair?
Hi Peter if the engine center position is wrong and you start the engine many times of curs is not start the question is this will damage the engine for corolla VVT-i thanks
Sorry. False TDC as compared to length of cam chain and trying to get alignment via yellow markings on chain (GREAT Toyota feature!) If you had continued to rotate assembly, your markings would have aligned at next passing. Thanks and sorry for any added confusion.
Hello Peter, I own a Corolla T-sport (4ZZGE) and it is leaking oil. At the Toyota garage they think it is comming from behind the timing chain cover. So they want to replace the gasket. Now they are telling me probably the whole engine has to come out for the replacement. Do you also think the whole engine has to come out? I hope to hear from you. Best regards, Rens
Hi, if your car cylinder compression rates are Ok and engine do not smoke oil, you could use old engine. You must maybe only replace crankshaft and camshaft gaskets.
When you put the sprocket or the vvti controller on the camshaft, how do you align the sprocket with the camshaft? Are there markings to match up or are there grooves in the sprockets than mean the camshaft can only be inserted in one particular way?
Hello, Peter, As your instruction, I turned the engine by hand, no obstruction engine turned smoothly but when i started the engine it starts but dies immediately will not run continuously , do you think engine timing is off. 2005 Toyota Camry 2.4 liter VVTI Eng. I replaced valve seals. Need your opinion., Thank you.
Hello Peter, I replaced valve stem seal Toyota Camry 2005 2.4 Litter vvti Eng. I marked down the camshaft int. & exhaust and the crank pulley with the #1 piston top dead center the position both camshaft lobe is at 11:00 O'clock position. My concern is the mark on the crank pulley won't align in the 0 deg. mark in the timing cover. I have not start the engine yet. I turned the engine by hand and no obstruction I feel. The position of crank. key is in the right mark. Your opinion is appreciated.
I want to buy a car thats maintenance free or at the very least lets me do do stuff. been thinking of a ford fiesta or mitsubishi colt. perhaps a corolla is better? how about parts, are they expensive? thanks!
Man, whoever gooped the orange silicon on the front of that engine is probably why you have the engine out of the car. Doesn't look like it came that way from Toyota.
My VW has 319,000 miles on the all original engine, and got 260,000 miles out of the original clutch. If you think German cars suck it’s because you don’t know how to drive/maintain them
I don't think most of us are third graders but that is the way he's trying to teach it. Jesus! wake me up when it's over. I had everything figured out when he finally got around to the timing marks.
im hearing a weird noise in my engine... i took it to the the toyota dealer. They're saying i need to replace the timing chain tensioner ... ? do i need to just replace that or the whole set in this video ? They also saying i need to replace my alternator .. but my car turns on fine and never had a problem of it turning off. Also resealing my engine cover ... that i dont know at all and they're charging me 1200 for just that...which i find crazy PLEASE... answer my question im 19 and broke so like fuck man ....
nebulousJames12345 I did not Im working while is in, only remove 1 mount and put a jack with a piece of wood on the oil pan, so I jack up and down during my work depending on where I need to work on(top ot button)
OHHHH Man Take off the fucking Crankshaft sensor road in order you can work freely........ I don´t understood why you suffer with taht... And ou speak so much and workso slow... Man i´msure you can do better videos... Gettings from Caracas
You stretched the video too long , if the engine is on the floor I'll take 30 mins to complete the job ..including removing all covers and fit them back..
That’s a 1.6 vvt-i engine? I have Toyota Corolla 1.6 cvt-i 2007 GLI And I’m about to replace timing because I got 150km on the engine And wondering if it same procedure with the Engine you work in the video
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor Hi, the water pump to the 3zz-fe is are the same to the 3zz-fe? I have the 1600cc engine And the guy at the dealer shop gave me a new pump and seems to be for the 1800cc That’s what’s says on the box. I hope he doesn’t miss understand Before I start to take of thing I wanted to ask you and be sure If it’s the same water pump
So are you saying toyota timing chains last to 300000 miles or German cars last that long? I have a 2006 corolla that has a ticking noise only on the passenger side when that door is open can't hear it from the driver side if that door is open do I need a tensioner or a the whole timing chain kit, my car has 87000 miles on it
Yes. And The most important point is, that those three timing marks(two in camshaft and one in crankshaft) are in the same positions when I rotate timing chain some full rotations. This is the key point.
Ok Thank you, I had to do the same thing and pull back on that VVT sprocket to line up the yellow chain link. My cams were in the same postion as yours and the crankshaft marks were lined up down bottom. If the alignment was off a tooth lets say, does the VVT help correct the valve timing anyway?
