Thx for this video. I have the same toilet and I just did the install of the new fill valve. The problem is sometimes after I flush the valve doesn’t refill. I have to give the blue cover a bit of push or a nudge otherwise it won’t refill. Any thoughts?
I wish this guy did tons of videos on things, as he's one of the only people that gets to the point, doesn't have some rapp crap music blaring in the background and pretty much knows what he's doing. It could be shorter, but it was fine really and I loved the cat that was so pretty as well. Not letting that cat get on his nerves shows me a really good, kind human being. thanks for the great job and I hope this saves me about $100.00 or more to do it myself.
Great video, made me feel comfortable on what to expect and capable that I could do the replacement. I would suggest draining a lot more water out of the tank before removing the fill valve. I used a manual automotive liquid transfer pump but a simple turkey baster would work too. If you don’t have either, then I think a pie pan under the tank would help catch most of the water when pulling out the old fill valve. Nice, easy to do do-it-yourself plumbing project.
See the method for disassembling that valve and diagnosing what went wrong. For $4 I bought only the cap with diaphragm (my diaphragm was cut through). Easy to put back together, and it works like new. For $4 instead of $30. The difference is an Outback steak dinner. Kitten Catten Kuchen.
An easy way to adjust the fill valve length is to use a tape measure to measure the height of the vertical tube in the tank. Then set the same measurement on the fill valve from the bottom of the rubber gasket to the bottom of the top cap.
Great info! Your video gave me so much more info than the instructions ever could. This is my first attempt at a toilet repair and I am determined to tackle it on my own, Thank you for posting!
My fill valve was bad and I was getting ready to call the plumber and decided to inquire first then I found your video and a Toto toilet fill replacement and the exact model. I went to Home Depot and purchased it and installed it according to your instructions and it worked out perfectly You save my day and the headache of a plumber. Thanks Bro.
Thank you so much for this video. I started replacing my fill valve about 1/2 hour ago and couldn’t get it to stop running. Your video helped me work through the problem and the toilet is doing fine now.
Awesome, detailed, step by step video. Korky should simply link your video as instructions. Beats their instructions any day. I really appreciated you making your follow up adjustment to correct the water level. I would have had trouble figuring it out. Thank you !
Thanks for the video! One question: Do you think by replacing my fill valve it will fix my toilet tank from filling up so much and never stopping? My fill valve hasn't been replaced since we got the toilet about 15 years ago. You don't think it is the supply valve went bad or is it just the fill valve that has gotten bad? The toilet tank just keeps on making noise nonstop because it won't stop filling with water. Thank God for the overflow tube because there would be water everywhere lol✌
@@TheGizmoGarage Thank you for this message. I actually replaced the fill valve a couple weeks ago, a couple days after I sent the message to you. The problem was the fill valve because it quit running water and the noise stopped. Anyway, you have a nice weekend, man!🙂✌
just a suggestion but i'd use a sponge to get the water out of the tank before removing the fill valve....or put a small bucket under to catch the water... otherwise nice DIY job..
Much longer explanation than necessary. Effort is good. The fill hose once detached from fill tubing can be turned to remove. Pressure and age will make it hard. This newly designed fill valve is very sensitive to mineral deposits as you pointed out. Toto has a video on how to clean the Type B valve. That was my issue as the fill process was extremely long. When I pulled out the bottom filter, it was filled with guck. Well water the issue in my case. The parts that were stuck on this video were also stuck on mine. I needed channel locks with gentle pressure to remove the filter assembly part attached to the diaphram cap. I have had Toto toilets before, which lasted forever. These new ones, not as good. I'll agree with you there.
For some reason my toilet won't refill despite this being newly installed with my toilet. I have to push on the fill valve's side in order to trigger a refill. Any tips on what it could be?
Bro! Thank you soo much for this! Saw your tutorial, ordered the part at 2am after listening to the damn toilet gurgle half the night. Got it, installed it and sleeping through the night.
Thank you for the video I managed to replace the fill valve and adjust it to the correct height and still rate! I’m pretty sure the one I was replacing was set way too high probably wasted lots of water. PS I just stuck the excess tubing down the overflow pipe instead of trimming and clipping it on top.
Use a wet vac to suck up the water in the tank. You could of caused a leak in the ceiling be;ow your bathroom with your method. Also you seem to reverse clockwise and counter clock wise.
Li, why did u change the fill valve out? What was the problem? Our Toto Drake toilet is only a year old, but I’m noticing it’s not fully flushing everything down, some lingering particles if you will I see you after a flush and I’m not sure what’s going on
The fill valve is constantly feeding water into bowl and then gets drained in excess so it's broken, that's why we replaced it. If bits are left after a flush, it could mean your water level in the tank is not properly set, so not enough water to do a complete flush, or the fill rate setting on fill valve is incorrect, so the toilet bowl does not get enough water when tank is refilling
In most cases, simply replace the fill valve will fix the leaking problem. Pay abt $4 in Homedepot to by korky replacement cap no. R528 which will be compatible. Save your money, time, environment.
I've got the toto drake ST7437 I need a flapper, where can I get a cheap one? I've tried to look it up but can't find it.. don't want to pay a plumber!! Thanks! I love my toto!! Works just like a full tank with lots a great water pressure! Can't stand those water saver toilets..this is a water savor but you'd never know :)
No problem, the flap should be very easy to replace, just make sure the chain length is correctly adjusted when new flap is put on so it opens fully when the top lid is closed.
