Video demonstrates how to replace a 3 gang / triple light switch. Old switch was a PDL 283 and replaced with a Legrand ED770/3WE. Worksafe link for DIYers worksafe.govt.nz/laws-and-reg... Subscribe for more, and cheers for watching.
Thanks for posting this Dave: hard as hell finding wiring instructions in NZ as we're subject to ridiculous laws preventing non-contractors undertaking home electrical/plumbing work consequently purchased parts do not include installation guides. Crazy huh!
Used this as a guide to wire a 3 gang smart switch, this is a brilliant video, I did this as a beginner and a DIY enthusiast and found your instructions very clear and easy to follow. Many thanks :D
Awesome video - thanks! Just wondering why you labelled the old switches 3, 2, 1 going from left to right? I would have thought 1, 2, 3 (so that the old left switch was the new top switch) would be more intuitive. 🤷♂
G'day mate, generally size difference - the older metal and alloy ones are much smaller than plastic/fire rated metal ones we use nowadays. Upgrading reduces chances of 1.0mm cable damage on light switches and also many of the sockets we now use dont fit older flush boxes. I usually replace flush boxes for all sockets and if the switch is a 3-6 gang, if single gang I dont usually bother and two gang it depends if it's steel and sufficient size - i'd leave it, alloy - i'd remove it and replace, and I always tend to replace nails where ever practical aswell.
Hi Sparkydave enjoy your videos, have a question for you, I have four lights out in my carport and the light switch is in the laundry room and I want to put a switch out in the carport to make a two way sw so when we go out and come back after dark we can turn the carport lights on and turn them off when we get inside the house. Thanks for any help
