Hey, I'm working on my 2013 LS460. Your car was the previous model, but they are similar enough. Thank you very much for this video. Made the whole job easier. I did bust the plastic housing around the trunk close button, but I got a replacement for less than $20. The rest of the repair was free. I repaired the plastic sensor. Saved me $1,000 or more at the dealership.
Awesome job, I am glad this helped! Just seeing this. So glad it worked for you to repair it yourself, I recall the OEM parts from Lexus are very expensive so great job doing it yourself! Wow, over $1K at the dealer, I am not surprised sadly, thanks for sharing this here!
Hey thanks! Glad it was helpful, there is that long black plastic cover on the left side, and I took that off, the long plastic cover with the little push in plastic tabs. You can pop out those tabs with a screw driver but they sometimes break. I got a pack of replacement ones on Amazon I remember if you want to put it back on. I had that cover off to get to the battery, but I remember we did not take the entire battery entirely out of where it sits, I think I just was able to loosen the screw and remove the cable to cut the power and leave the battery sit there in the little holder made for it. I kind of slipped my hands in there and it is a bit tight, but I remember it worked. Hope that makes sense. Also, the good news is the replacement trunk actuator I got on Ebay, the rebuilt one, is still working great as of today!
Yes, when mine was broke, I was able to close it and did the same, I just left it locked until this replacement part arrived and I was able to get to the repair. Yes, and thanks good tip on using the key, that works to physically open it, if you need to, the little removable metal key from the fob.
