Thank you for uploading such a detailed video i was able to save my truck! i was leaking fluid rapidly and had no choice to take it in, they wanted $1400 to fix it and there was no way i could afford that so i had to roll up my sleeves and do it myself but i had no idea what i was doing luckily i found your video and bought my water pump and I'm back on the road! keep up the great work

You saved my truck! I've had a slight coolant drip for months, I've just been adding water weekly, finally, yesterday, the pump's pulley gave out, your video + 4 hours = truck's running better than ever!

This video is spot on. Make sure you remove your upper fan shroud and also make sure you replace your air conditioning compressor belt while you are in there. These two pieces of advice made the job that much better for me. With a new Continental belt, my A/C blows colder then it did due to less slip.

Thank you. I was able to replace the water pump on my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado using this video. Everything on my truck was identical. I didn't have all those fancy tools you have, but it was still easy. And mine doesn't have a fan clutch, so i was able to skip that step. Anyway, thank you.

I'm getting ready to replace most everything in my 2003 Silverado's cooling system. The heater hoses, radiator hoses, new slide clamps, and water pump. Prior to all the replacing I am flushing the radiator to clean the system. I'll inspect the serpentine and AC belts and decide their replacement at that time. With your video as a guide I feel confident to take on this job. Thanks for the details and your "done-right" video. I'll edit this comment once everything is done. 😃

I have a 2004 silverado 1500 and the water pump is leaking. I have planned on replacing the pump, thermastat and housing along with the coolant reservoir. Do you recommend replacing the tensioner and fan clutch as well? I only ask because the truck has over 330,000 miles and while I want to keep it functional I'm not sure how much to dump into it.

Why don't you want to use green antifreeze? Isn't Dexcool crap? Dexcool supposedly makes your antifreeze change intervals longer, but has a high possibility of failure that can mess up your vehicle much worse than it's worth. Also, what torque wrench is that?

Great video here. One thing he doesnt tell you is, if the nut on the flywheel doesnt loosen easy- if you turn the engine as you do so- you will need a flywheel spanner wrench from oreilly, part 43580. Costs 30 bucks...yea i know, ripoff! The two prongs on it fit in the water pump pulley so you can loosen the nut. Also, once you have the pump off, get a razor blade and scrape off any gunk built up on the engine where the gaskets sit. Be meticulous about this. I spent 30 minutes on mine. This is an important thing that not many mechs will spend that much time on.
