Thank you for the film, I need to replace my OBD2 plug as well, hopefully it is not one of the wires that causes Link Error sometimes. Do you need to disconnect the Airbag fuse before that procedure?
@@ChrisLiptan Thank you for the replay. I'll disconnect both and battery and the fuse. I also disconnect battery all the time I do smth on the car under the hood, or sometimes even on suspension. Way more safe.
@@christopherzimmer4087 There are many films on you tube, how to repine, I practiced a bit but never used that technique for any purposes. They sell special keys for repinning (on Amazon), they are different for different sockets. That is all what I can tell, sorry.
so the wires come out of the old plug with the gold tabs that hold it on it…. I got a new socket today and wondered how the wires would fit it - thanks!
Fantastic!!! The DMV smashed one of my female connectors inside the OBD connector. With this video's help, I'll try pull the connector and straighten it. You wouldn't happen to know what type of connector is needed should I need to crimp a new one on would you?
@@ChrisLiptan Thanks, Chris. I'm looking for the type of terminal connector on the actual wires. I know one is damages and likely have to crimp a new one onto the wire, then reinsert to the OBD connector. Do you know the type wire terminals needed?
/this is too difficult for me- How much will it cost me to have it replaced? my Inspection is Due for 07/20- I can't reset my engine Light or brake light after getting repairs... Oh Wow!
Great vid - but question - when the wire comes out of the back of old connector 5:34 in vid -- is it just the wire or is there a metal tube/connector thingy attached to the end? I tried and just the wire itself came free from the back of the old connector. Any help would really be appreciated :)
Yes there is a metal connector on each wire. Keep trying to get the rest of them out and when you're done, you can cut open the one to retrieve the metal piece and try to reattach it to the wire.
How did you know your obd was bad ? Because I was flashing my car and mid flash I light tuned off from the obd wire so I stopped the flash unplugged it and when I plugged it in the light would only stay on for 2 minutes max then turn right off
Chris Liptan yeah I got. All figured out turns out my obd don’t like the cable I hooked up the mhd WiFi adapter and it finished tuning and works like a charm that’s for the vid tho !
