5-6 hours to change the alternator? That number is probably accurate when the work is done “by the book”. I seem to remember reading, when any major maintenance is performed on a 914, it is recommended that the whole drivetrain be removed. Any work related to the engine, clutch, transmission or exhaust suggests dropping the drivetrain and working on it outside of the car. I’m sure that that makes it easier, but it does add a lot of time. Good job as always, Barefoot! 😊
I have to agree, out of car is easiest. I can pull my EFI motor in under an hour (solo), so it is easier for some job. But man I hate having to reseal the CVs and heat exchangers every time!
