Thank you for not making this into a long and drawn out 27 minute video! Short, informative and right to the point! Thanks

Thank you so much for this video! I've looked online but all I could find was people telling me to repot every 3 to 5 years and how to wire. This helped a lot👍🏼👍🏼

When exactly do I need to repot? Is it when it reaches a certain height? Or is it at a particular time of year? Or when the pot gets too small? I live in the UK, and I have two White Pines in little starter pots like the one in your video, but my pots are smaller than yours. Any information would be great!

If they are from seed don't pot them on into a bonsai pot yet or it'll decades to get a thick trunk. I would wait about three years until the trunk is about pencil size and the roots established. When they are that old once you can prune the roots and get them into a bonsaiz training pot. Then start to wire them.

I somehow for the life of me couldn't work my head around this stage, my mind was all on germinating for too long (thinking of buying a starter kit here in the UK soon) Thanks for a quick and easy explanation!

If youre new man I recommend going to a bonsai nursery first and purchasing a ficus/chinese elm as a starter (2-3years old) to start learning basic techniques, a lot of people lose interest trting to grow from seed because it take many many years

Whoa! So, this plant is the exact plant I got a year ago. I was only able to save two. I literally just planted both of those tonight! Crazy 0.0. I shoul've watched this because I left a lot of soil(debris) on the roots I feel. Oh well, I'll try and comment on the progress. Thx for the vid :)

I have 4 of them about the same size in close proximity. I'm assuming I pull all the roots apart individually and put him in separate pots. I might try to put all 4 in the same pot. We'll see how it goes thanks for the easy video
@reannemichellevids
@reannemichellevids 9 месяцев назад
Love it! Not sure about having all four in the same pot. It should be fine but I’m just trying to think if they would get too crowded and stunt each other’s growth. Also, the longer they stay together the harder it will be to separate them in the future if that’s your plan. Thanks for watching, best of luck!🤗

Hi I have two strong Norway spruce seedlings that are in a small bonsai kit pot and are ready for a new pot. Roots are beginning to show so I’m going to separate the seedlings and get them in a happy place. Question on that. For the Norway spruce, do I follow the same type of soil or something different?
@reannemichellevids
@reannemichellevids 16 дней назад
Hello! I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with Norway spruce but I do believe going through the same process would be good! This soil should be pretty generic for any type:)

Not sure if you check the comments still; How old should the tree be before transferring it. I have a 2 month old Colorado spruce. Not sure if I should continue in the starter pot or transfer it to a normal pot yet.
@reannemichellevids

As long as it has at least a few sets of true leaves (or needles) and the trunk/stem has hardened you should be good to transplant it:)

I planted 5 seeds just before the winter time in the uk and 3 seeds took within 2 months then died but the remaining 2 have grown about 15 cm I want to repot them but struggling to look for the right type of soil I see you were using potting mix we dont get that here in the uk well I havent found any anywhere could anyone recommend another type of soil
@reannemichellevids
@reannemichellevids Год назад
I’m glad to hear you have some growing! I would recommend some sand and soil mix if you can find that. If I were you I would look up the type of tree you’re growing’s natural environment. Does it grow in a rocky area, a sandy place? Then go from there with what types of soil you have available to you.

Hi, my seedlings are almost about 3 inches tall, am I okay to repot them or should I wait? My kit instructed me to cut the weak seedlings when they get to about 3 inches tall sharing the same pot.
@reannemichellevids
@reannemichellevids 3 года назад
I am not an expert but if they are sharing the same pot with other seedings I would say it’s okay to repot them, give them each more space to grow:) It also depends on the pot size and how much root growth there is. As long as there are at least four sets of true leaves it should be safe to repot. Good luck🙏🏼

How many months old for my bonsai do u recommend before repotting it into a bonsai pot. My bonsais are 1 month old. Good vid :)
@reannemichellevids
@reannemichellevids 4 года назад
Thanks for watching! I would say it depends on how fast your tree is growing and how big/small of a pot you have it in now. Once it has a few sets of true leaves, that is a good time to think about repotting. Too be honest I believe we waited a few months too long to repot ours. Hope this helps :)

@@reannemichellevids My plants all have 6+ leaves. They are in the starting pot that it came with. (I bought the amazon bonsai starting kit)
@reannemichellevids
@reannemichellevids 4 года назад
@@bulletzzz3 I am definitely not an expert as these are my first bonsais, but we planted 3 seeds into each pot, in that case I think they got too crowded and we should have separated all of them sooner. If they are individually potted they should have enough space to grow up to 8 months. If the roots start popping out or the tree seems stunted in growth, try a new pot. :)
@odyccbroke8158
@odyccbroke8158 3 года назад
Many professional bonsai artists may leave a seedling the initial “starter” pot for maybe up to 4 years to encourage stunted growth. Lady you are miss informing everybody and it’s absolutely appalling.

@reannemichellevids 4 года назад
Naina Holsve I’m so glad I could help! And fortunately I haven’t had a problem with banana flies so I’m not too sure about that one but I would try letting the top soil dry out a bit because they like to breed in damp soil. Thanks for watching:)

when do you repot your bonsai tree
@reannemichellevids
@reannemichellevids 2 года назад
If you are growing your bonsai tree from the seed, I would repot it about 3 weeks after it sprouts or when it has a couple sets of true leaves. You don’t want it to get stressed for space in the starter pot:) once your tree becomes more mature you only have to repot it every few years! I hope this helps🙏🏼
