Thanks so much for sharing this video. I've replaced many a screen but there were some extremely helpful tips that I intend to add to my next effort. I also appreciated the little details that will help to make the job go easier. You can still teach an old dog new tricks! Thanks again.

thank you! We were having problems because the screen was so thick but the trick about using the spline too first before you put in the string thing was perfect

I love the way you are jammed in there, working with all of your mom's cat paraphernalia around you. I'm just about to try to do this job. My package of Phifer Pet Screen says to use .125 size spline. I hope it works.

sophiacat9 Ha, it is a tight fit. I always try to use the spline that I removed. Because the pet screen is thicker, you may have to use a slightly smaller spline in some cases.We have more tips on our weekly podcast itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/fix-it-home-improvement/id880903087?mt=2

I am reusing the spline that was already in my door and I cannot get it back in as easily as you do in the video. I have spent about 30 minutes rolling and have only accomplished about 10 inches

So what is the spline you are using ? I got .125 spline and it is still very hard to put the spline in.

+Mary Lei Hi, each frame is different, you need to match the groove to the spline and thickness of the screen. You can run down to the hardware store and have them cut you a small length to test a couple sizes. It should be snug.
