So grateful to have found your videos, Jeff. Since the first one, I've been hooked and use them again and again for each role I apply to to help walk me through all the steps. The cover letter video and this video are my most frequent repeat visits. Thank you for taking the time to create professional content that has good meat to it. I am praying for another success story for you through me soon.
Thanks for your super informative videos, Jeff! I think I've watched all, if not most of it. I like the format, unique insights and your enthusiasm! I'd actually interviewed with Google recently (2 rounds through video), but unfortunately was subsequently informed that the headcount for that role is to be moved to another country 💔
Hi Melsa, first of all, huge congrats on making it through 2 rounds! If you search up the % of people who make it that far, you'll see it's a pretty low percentage, so chin up! I'm sure you had learnings from your experiences and more and more opportunities will be presented to you! Thank you also for your kind words, I really hope this content is helping people who might be having a tough time in the job market right now, and your support means a lot more than you might think for a small creator like myself :)
@@JeffSu Thank you for your reply and encouragement! Your videos have certainly been of massive help to me and I believe for many others as well. Continue making awesome vids!
Great advice! Not just for the job search, but while working as an employee too. Keeping your finger on the pulse of your company is a great idea to be a leading employee who is advancing the company’s goals.
Great video -- love that you offer practical steps instead of abstract advice! Also note -- starting around the 0:35 second mark it looks like the closed captions are slightly off
Thanks so much for the comment Angela! Oh wow thanks for letting me know about the Closed Captions - I think there's been a bug recently for my channel. Will try to get it fixed!
Thanks so much for letting me know Sanderson! Appreciate the comment and hope you were able to get some research done for the companies you're interviewing for!
Thanks Sharan! I've honestly been taking inspiration from some of Ali's recent videos as well, but I don't even think he's editing his own videos anymore hah.
I like your videos, they are very informative, but I believe that you tend to overcomplicate simple things that can be done in a more practical way, anyway thanks for sharing your insights
@@JeffSusure! Well I will relate to this video, but it also extends to all the other ones. Let's start by saying that I am not an expert in communication, recruiting or whatever, I just love learning so I read and study stuff from multiple sources, and I watch videos from multiple channels so I compare you to the other sources I use to read or watch. When it comes to this video by discussing point 1 and 2, by using Google Alerts to me is superfluous, let's suppose you have 20-30 preferred companies you'd like to work for, so you set the alert for all of these companiese and you receive information everyday for all of these companies, it is a ton of information that can only confuse you, right? Furthermore everytime you complete an application you cannot know which company will call you, it is uncertain, so setting an alert that gives you info about company x and company x never calls you is useless, I repeat it just confuses you, and if company x instead calls you I can guarantee you that you will never remember what type of notification about that company Google Alerts sent you, because again it's a ton of information that you are receiving. By regarding to point 2 I believe this thing can be done in a very simple way, I mean just write the name of the company on Google or whatever and look for the section "About us", "Who we are", "Our mission", every company has these sections, read this paragraph carefully and try to find something that can be related to your personality and that you like about the company, the same is for the role, carefully read the job description and find something that relates to you. Recruiters are people who do not know anything about technical stuff, they just get indications from the hiring managers, so discussing with them about quarterly earnings or google trends to gauge the products demand is pointless because they do not understand it, maybe the hiring manager understands it, but he does not care about these stuff, the hiring manager just wants to understand if you fit inside his team, so a brief contextual and to the point answer is ok, there is no need to do all this deep research, in the end the risk of being rejected during a job interview is way way higher of the benefit of being accepted, so if you fill your brain and your mind with all these informations you risk to get confused and make mistakes during the interview. In conclusion, about this video, I say: carefully reading the job description and the section about the culture and the mission on the company's website is enough
Hey Jeff; Love, looove, your irony and selfdistans jokes. Would be great if you gave examples of other tools or alternatives to the tools from Google. Especially since your working there.. :-)
@@JeffSu I’m here to rewatch it to get inspirations, and possibly I’ll ask about Porsche Taycan V.S. new Tesla interior design tomorrow at Tesla’s interview 😅🤣
