How To Reset Echo Dot 

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

I actually didn't want to reset it. I just wanted to connect it to the new internet because we changed companies. I guess I didn't have much of a choice because it just would not connect. This worked. Thank you.

Great tips!! This was a great video. But I have another problem. My older sister and I both have Alexas and mine is connected to hers somehow. Like when I play music it stops and calls me up all the time to say, “it’s playing on mine.” We tried fixing this issues before, but nothing we thought about worked! Do you think resetting it would work?

Can you please help me set up audible clock. When I enabled it it worked only one time and than it won’t . I want my eco dot chime every hour. I don’t know if that is possible

This failed. Ive tried every combo of buttons at this point. It worked for years, no problem. I unplugged it today to move something. Plugged it back in 10 seconds later. And now it no longer works? Makes no sense.

My gen 2 dot powers up to a solid blue ring. The action button does nothing. Unlike the gen 1 this hockey puck has no apparent external reset botton.

None of my buttons will respond at all.

I have second gen mines not responding to anything if I hold the power button it go’s to a plan blue ring bug if I don’t it has the greenish small ring god around then shuts of then dose it again it dosent response to the reset and I tried the paper clip thing but it still didn’t do anything I don’t know if I did that wrong or not help would be appreciated or is she just broken? my alexa is confused lol. i think i have a 1st generation echo dot and even though it’s not set up yet there is a constant circling blue light the happens. and then when i try to re-set it like the guy in the video just did the echo dot turns a SOLID green color and doesn’t change. I even tried getting a paper clip to press the reset button in the middle and that also does nothing. Help please! I’ve had it for so long I’d like to actually use it.

FOREVER UPDATING LOOP FIX If your Echo Dot is stuck in an Updating Loop forever, do this. ON the Roating Red Ring, press and hold MUTE and MINUS buttons down simultaneously for about 30 seconds until it says "Removing your SmartHome Devices" and then release them. Wait a bit and then when you press the Action button and your Echo will say "Now ready for Setup". Or you can unplug and plug it, and it will play the new Welcome Tone and saying your device "Is now ready for setup, go to the Alexa App". Go to the Alexa App and chose the bottom right icon for Settings and then chose "Add New Device" and chose "Echo Dot". You'll see it listed if detected via Bluetooth... pick it... and then pick your Wifi Hotspot for it to connect to as you've been through before. Tada... your Echo is back, but the WAKE Word has been reset to "Alexa" so you'll have to change it back to whatever you prefer, i.e. "Alexa, change my Wake Word to Echo/Computer/Amazon/Ziggy/Alexa"... This will last until the next Power Outage / Power Cycling of your Alexa at which point the dmmnn thing will try to update again and get stuck in the update loop like it did before. i think there’s something wrong with my alexa. it’s saying that it’s ready for set up and the light is orange but i don’t want it to reset i think i might’ve done it on accident. and i can’t talk to it either. do you know what’s happening?

My Alexa got soaked with water . left her to dry out for couple of days including powered off on radiator. Did reset now she is back working . 😊

Will this help if I can't disable the mute microphone function? I tried using it for the first time since I've have Alexa. I pressed the button and now I can't unmute it.

These are the same instructions that you get step-by-step in the Alexa app. What do you do when those steps and your steps don't work?

But will this wipe out the wifi account choice that I no longer have? I had Xfinity and switched to Verizon but the Verizon account doesn't show up. It was not an issue on my other echo.

this is not a hard reset this just puts alexa in setup mode hold the mute button and volume down button for a hard reset

Actually I think you stopped too soon. I did push the button and like you show it said "in set up mode" and to go to manual. I needed you to show me how to SET it up though. Had to go to another video
