The reason I did not want to attempt this was I was afraid I would lose all of my data: routines, etc. Just a heads-up that you don't. The only thing that I lost was reminders. Everything else will still in my Alexa app. So if you're holding off on doing this, never fear!

If you have a persistent orange ring as I did, meaning internet connection issues, a "hard reset" might be necessary. This is the only thing that fixed my issue. Press and hold the [volume down] and [mute microphone] buttons until the dot turns itself off. It will restart, and once it does, it will enter "initial setup mode" as if you've just turned it on of the first time ever. Have your Alexa app ready to set it up, and you should have it back up and running in seconds....You're welcome 😉 lol.

Can you tell me when I unplugged my charger port out. The Alexa turns off and doesn't turn on without me plugging it back in?

What do I do if I try to set it up for the 1st time but the light is just solid green I manged to find out what to do and to fix it I just waited a few mins and then unplugged the alexa from the back, plugged it back in and it started working

Man, even after this, when I talk to my Echo it gives me a red circle saying internet connection problem even tho everything is fine with my internet

I have been holdinh down my volume down and mute microphone button and it has no effect, I have made sure i did it for correct amount of time, I have also held down my action button and there was no effect someone please help, i have also tried unplugging it all i have is a persistent blue ring

Has anyone had trouble with Internet connectivity? Mine has been flashing orange, while intermittently telling me it is updating. I'm guessing this is down to it not connecting to my WiFi, but every other device is working fine. I've tried reseting the router but this hasn't worked. Perhaps if I reset like this it may work again.

FOREVER UPDATING LOOP FIX If your Echo Dot is stuck in an Updating Loop forever, do this. ON the Roating Red Ring, press and hold MUTE and MINUS buttons down simultaneously for about 30 seconds until it says "Removing your SmartHome Devices" and then release them. Wait a bit and then when you press the Action button and your Echo will say "Now ready for Setup". Or you can unplug and plug it, and it will play the new Welcome Tone and saying your device "Is now ready for setup, go to the Alexa App". Go to the Alexa App and chose the bottom right icon for Settings and then chose "Add New Device" and chose "Echo Dot". You'll see it listed if detected via Bluetooth... pick it... and then pick your Wifi Hotspot for it to connect to as you've been through before. Tada... your Echo is back, but the WAKE Word has been reset to "Alexa" so you'll have to change it back to whatever you prefer, i.e. "Alexa, change my Wake Word to Echo/Computer/Amazon/Ziggy/Alexa"... This will last until the next Power Outage / Power Cycling of your Alexa at which point the dmmnn thing will try to update again and get stuck in the update loop like it did before. Still, you can at least bring it back from the dead until then. If your Echo Dot is stuck in an Updating Loop forever, do this. In my case removing the power cord and plugging it back in before doing these steps helped. Once it powers on and starts showing the blue lights follow the steps in the video. The device was unresponsive to the steps originally and was either showing the blue lights nonstop or no lights and only reacting to the silence button. Update: I've had to reset one of my Echo Dot (4th gen) countless times now, and it regularly stops listening/responding or stops playing Spotify. Anyone else having these issues as well?

My Alexa won’t stop cutting in and out (she talks then it’s cuts off and then she continues talking).
