I tried your first video, and as you stated updated machines had issues with that fix.... as was mine, this one worked nicely, my only issue was getting it to boot to USB, had to switch to legacy mode to get it to boot. I forgot the password to this old, duct taped laptop I only use it 3 months out of the year to run my 45 thousand Christmas light show... You young man have saved Christmas here for thousands of people... Subscribed...

It didn't work for me - unless I'm missing something. Obviously I have a lot of new knowledge to glean. If things didn't work, I found a work-around to make it work. Pressing f12 only allows me into GUI rather than text on the screen. I've changed boot order to the USB drive first and nothing works! Any advice is welcomed!!! Now I'm going to take a nap because I'm so frustrated. I thought I could help a friend. SMH

This is very good news and results. Thanks for the information. It works on a Lenovo Tower: Access is F12. Shift + Restart - to get to even more mystery choices. BIOS setup is intuitive guess work. 'Cause who knows what any of it means ? Most important = Admin. Password - gets the 'Welcome' screen. --- fyi = Bought 2 'Kingston' [CCP! ] drives = corrupt/ dead/ waste of money ! It's been over 12 hours that I've been working on this non stop! 😭 It's always something wrong that happens . Everytime i get to the bio screen (pressing the "F2" key) My USB doesn't appear. I tried deleting everything on my USB and doing everything again (following what you do in the video) but i get the same result. I tried putting the settings in default to see if maybe i changed something but it didn't work Clearly i am doing something wrong but i don't see it....

Note: if after attempting to boot to Hiren’s boot cd, you get a "BSOD" (blue screen of death), then go back to rufus and redo the bootable flash drive.

I would simply add, that I believe that the ability to find the current password, should be removed, so that it cannot be used to find the password of another users PC. If it's your PC that your using it on, then you can simply reset your own password. This way, if someone did that to another users PC, then that user would simply be locked out, and wonder why they could no longer access their computer, instead of whoever used HBD, gaining access to the current owners password, and using it for nefarious purposes. NOTE: If you want to make sure this cannot be done, then go into your bios, and password your setup and you might as well password the administrator account, while your at it.
