Skip to 4:15 if you just want to know how to reset the tire pressure warning light-and already know what the light means, have checked the tires, etc.

I have a 2008 Rav 4 and there is not a reset switch for the tire light anywhere inside that vehicle. I've even taken the glove box completely out and there is no reset switch. there is nothing in the owners manual about a reset switch nor its location.
@jamiejonesthecarman
@jamiejonesthecarman 8 лет назад
+James M Hi James, you are correct. Your vehicle doesn't have a reset switch. I'm assuming your tire pressure warning light is on? You want to make sure that all of of the tire pressures are above 32-35 psi cold. Don't forget about your spare tire too because if that one is low, you will get the warning light as well. Once you have ensured that you have the proper tire pressure in all of the tires (including the spare) turn the key into the "On" position and wait for a few minutes. You should see the light go out. If it doesn't, you could have a bad sensor.

REALLY????? People don't know that the idiot light is for tire pressure. Wow.....I thought this vid was to show how to disconnect or repair "THE BROKEN TIRE LIGHT" that is always the culprit on Toyota's. These lights hardly ever work, and are "STUCK ON FOREVER". Most people must come here & look at an easy fix to shut the damn light off. Instead, we see this woman trying to teach people how to put air in your tires. Must be her heavy husband finishing off how to put air in a tire. I wonder if he squashes her when it comes to foolin' around.

On my 2015. Toyota Camry SE. the tire pressure light will not go off even after I checked and filled all the tires even the spare. Check your sidewalk of the tire and get the correct air pressure the psi mine was at 40 lbs psi. The reset button is located in the glove box under the latch button. I tried following the instructions and the reset button it did not reset the light. I also drove after I reset it and still the same blinking light on the dash. So I ended up taking the car to a tire shop they rotated all my tires checked for leaks in the water tub checked the tire pressure. It ended being a sensor , the sensor is part of the valve stem it had a small computer chip that was inside the tire behind the valve stem so the mechanic replaced the sensor/valve stem and reset the light with the computer tool he had and the light came off and never came back on again I’m already at 100 miles plus and the indestructible. Toyota is ready for any road or freeway cost was 100.00 labor and parts. Don t go to the dealership or steelership it will be a rip off. I’m in California

I had a flat tire today -- put the spare on. All four tires are at proper pressure, but dashboard lights stays on no matter how many times I try to reset it. Is it because the flat tire is still sitting in the trunk unfixed and the system is reading that? I swear I'm going to buy a 65 Chevy and say to hell with all this computerized crap.
@jamiejonesthecarman

Absolutely the tire that went flat has a sensor in it and the computer picks up that is at the wrong air pressure I know it's crazy but that's what's up

Worthless information. We all know how to inflate the tires, but how do you locate the RESET button?
@pauldeluca3471
@pauldeluca3471 4 года назад
Go to your owner's manual to locate the reset button for your vehicle. It should be to the left or right of the mid to lower region by the steering column. It could be elsewhere too so look at the manual. On my 2011 Sequoia, the reset button is located to the right near the lower region of the steering column. For your own edification, I suggest refraining from a harsh critique of someone who took the time to put together a video and post it. If you want someone to hold your hand then go to the dealership if you are in capable of doing a little research on your own.

One thing to point out is the batteries in the older sensors have a nasty habit of dying and causing the system to go ape. Most trucks do not have a sensor in the spare either. So here’s the thing. If a battery takes a dump it’s going to cost you 150 bucks or more to replace cause some sensors are a sealed affair. The whole thing is a vestige of the Ford Firestone debacle of the mid to late 1990s. Back then folks didn’t check their tires hardly at all and the then truck based Ford Explorer was no exception. In many cases they used Firestone destination tires. Well the explorer was top heavy and could be easily upset and the tires tended to when under inflated have blowouts or tread separation. People would neglect their tire pressures and a Firestone tire would blow out and separate its tread up front. The driver would hit the brakes in a panic with the vehicle already lopsided. End result ? The explorer rolls over to the side with a bad tire. Ford blamed Firestone for designing a bad tire, Firestone blamed Ford for designing a bad vehicle. The government mandated these god awful PITA nanny systems cause idiots were too lazy to check their tires. Now those of us who did have been cursed with these things for years. That’s why many folks don’t get em fixed either cause we already knew to check our tires monthly. If your too lazy to check your tires then you should have an account with Uber or Lyft cause you’ve got no business owning a car

Hey Guys, for those of you that might be viewing this video on a smart phone or tablet, we have found out that you may not be able to view the step by step instructions on how to reset this light so we are including those steps in the comment section for you as well as in the video. 1-Park the vehicle and turn the ignition to the LOCK position. 2-Locate the factory specs for COLD tire inflation pressure inside of the driver's door of your vehicle or the owner's manual. Verify that you have the correct tire pressure in the front, rear and spare tires. 3-Turn the key to the ON position. 4-Locate your tire pressure warning reset switch, which can be found either under your steering column or inside of your glove compartment. 5-After locating your reset switch, push and hold until the tire pressure warning lamp blinks slowly three times. Allow the vehicle to remain in the ON position for several minutes and then turn the key to the LOCK position. 6-Now, start your car and the tire pressure warning light should illuminate for 3 seconds and then go out. This will indicate that your TPMS (Toyota Tire Pressure Monitor System) is now functioning properly.

It's got nothing to do with factory specs! It's all about changes in the pressure. So if you change one or more tires, you should always reset. If you go for pressure that differs from factory settings, it doesn't matter. You just make sure your pressure is correct - and reset. If the light then appears, it's because of pressure loss/changes.

Yeah, it will re-trigger the system, however if you have a bad sensor in one of your four tires or the spare (if its full size) it won't help anything. You will know if you have a problem with a sensor though because the light will blink for about one full minute before staying on.

My 2016 4Runner has no reset button. What a dumb design. I have to run the OEM Bridgestone tires at 28 PSI because it handles terrible at factory recommended 32PSI. The car has terrible center -feel and keep trying to pull from side to side at highway speeds. I have no choice but to run the tires at lower pressure until they wear out and I can replace them with new Michelins. Why can't I reset tge warning light to come on at a desired pressure. After all, it's a 4wd vehicle. Lowering tire pressure us a very common procedure when driving off-road.
@roberthughey5625
@roberthughey5625 8 лет назад
+Ray_Biker the pressure must be within 4 pounds in all tires.....it measures differences...so all at 28 should not light up... a 4runner at 28 is a rollover hazard ? should be 32-35.........new tires are cheaper than new car??
