After completing the first 16 of 100 Pantone Postcards, I knew these were the perfect project to use resin on.

This was really cool! Probably a bit beyond my abilities but cool to see how it's done, I'll be coming back to this if I ever get the courage to work with resin 😅 P.S. I love watching you make the pantone pieces, working in that free flowing way thinking about the colour and composition is my favourite way to collage, I find it's similar to doing a jigsaw puzzle how there's a certain way the pieces fit together and you don't really have to think too hard about it but when you get it right it's like 'ahh, that's it' 😍 I'm still fairly new to collage (less than 2 years of making things consistently) and it's really validating to see different kinds of collage - stuff that doesn't necessarily have a subject and an action and a deeper meaning but instead it has a "vibe" and that's enough ☺️

I hope you give it a try sometime! I am glad you like the Pantones, I agree they are so freeing to do and do think they are like a jigsaw puzzle. Definitely! There are so many forms of collage, so much to explore and try! 😀

This is a great idea, I'd love to give a video more in depth of that 😀 I will try to think about how to explain it. If you watched my more recent livestream I tried to talk a bit about this, I recommend watching that if you haven't! A lot of it feels like instinct at this point so I almost have to consciously think about why I am doing what I am doing haha!

Nice job Leah! Fellow forever learner here. I am getting ready to do the Pantone challenge in May 😀. Just wrapping up a collage sketchbook challenge for April now. I’ve done a few resin pieces and have always taped off the sides of my panels. It’s a bit tedious but does result in a pretty clean finish. Curious to hear what you think about sanding vs taping? I’m assuming the sanding is tedious/messy too? Either way, love the result you obtained. Thanks for sharing your work and process!

Excited you are trying the Pantone challenge out! As for Resin, I regularly tape the sides off. But in my larger piece I had an issue where the resin went over and around the tape. I know there it tape with a plastic drape, that is definitely what I recommend. I wanted to try sanding after as I never have done thing method.

@@flanzella Ahh, yes - I had that happen once too and I had a really tough time getting the last little section of green tape out of my hardened resin (resorted to sanding that) I hope my message didn’t sound condescending or as if I was coaching you on your process, I was just genuinely trying to see if I could get away with avoiding the taping process for the ones I plan to do 😀. With 100 cards, it sounds like a lot - lol. Did you find the sanding was more trouble than the taping?

Your message definitely was not condescending. I am a teacher who can be taught 😋 I definitely encourage discussions in my comments. They will benefit other creators even 10 years from now! As for the process, I do think its a matter of preference. Both are time consuming, one a little more messy than the other. I think for future I would tape small ones and sand the larger ones.
