If you don't own or need a "scoring tool" you can use something like an envelope opening (or something with a dull edge) and poke a row of holes yourself along the edge you want to fold.
I always do the same when I resize boxes the only thing I do different is bend the cardboard over the item after I cut up the four corners. BUTTTTT with that fancy shmancy tool it will make my life so much easier!!! So I bought one!!!! I encourage the rest of you to do the same! What a handy tool
