Awesome joe !! That my next step for next year my trailer is a peace of crap . Could I fix it yeah is it worth my time no lol I’m just going to buy a new trailer and be done with it. The Trailer will be fine for the rest of the season .
Damn. I thought I was the only one with the fender issue. Mine has a bolt on the top and every time I go to launch I can hear it scrape. Now I’m raising the bunks up 4 inches and removing the fenders and replaced with pvc fenders. Haven’t been able to finish the gelcoat due to my supply place has been closed for covid 19.
That scrape would sound thunderous to me lol! I'm not sure if that caused the hull damage or not but am not taking any chances after all the work I've put into it.
Jose's Extreme DIY that’s why I’m lifting the bunks up and replacing the fenders. Not taking any chances either lol. Also it helps bring the height of the boat up just a little so I can see when backing down the ramp. Usually I have to drop my tailgate because my truck is so big. Hope the boats gonna be done by October. Taking my sweet time so I don’t screw up lol
That’s pretty much where I’m at not Joe my. Trailer rollers are junk and I’m replacing the bunks .. during the same time I’m fixing the crack under the hull from the old roller bunks that cased it to crack in the first place .. I don’t like those roller bunks I’m replacing them with 2x4 and carpet ..
Keep the keel rollers though, classic whalers are supposed to rest their weight on the keel and the side bunks are there to stabilize it with not much weight on them. Seeing how thin the fiberglass is on these classic hulls, I can see why! Make sense?
If it's a classic 13 then yes, the bulk of the weight should be resting on the keel. The front roller is to keep the keel from hitting the frame of the trailer when loading and unloading.
Do you have anything on reworking the axle hubs and bearings? I am trying to find out what the spindle diameter is on the standard Boston Whaler supplied trailer for the 13 sport.
