thomas im having alot of problems with my microbiome and there seems like no one can help me, i wish you could of helped me and put me on a path to recovery
I'm on day 3 of 5 and I feel great. I IF in between long fast. Im not hungry I dont dont feel deprived. Ive lost 20 lbs this month and I'm determined to lose115 more lbs and heal my body.
@@Adzdachilla it's been good. I'm learning to fast around my cycles which has been a challenge. I was experiencing significant hair loss because if it. But I think I'm getting the hang of it. My weight has gone up and down but my physic is changing due to exercise and building muscle. I try not to focus on the number on the scale anymore. More on the inches
Firstly, fasting gives your overworked gut a break from energy-intensive tasks like digesting and assimilating food. It has been shown to reduces something called postprandial endotoxemia, which has been found to increase the risk for obesity and insulin resistance🙏
“We show that during chronic or intermittent dietary fiber deficiency, the gut microbiota resorts to host-secreted mucus glycoproteins as a nutrient source, leading to erosion of the colonic mucus barrier.” That means dat by depriving yourself of fiber, the bacteria literally starts eating your gut mucus layer.
Lurker I think autophagy refers to cell metabolism. I’ve definitely heard some highly qualified Keto advocates warning that if we don’t feed gut bacteria fibre, the bacteria end up feeding on us. Not good 😬
I did intermittent fasting 18-6 for 5 weeks now and still going. This became easy after the second or thrid week so i started doing atleast 20 hours fast. Today is the third time i am doing a 48h fast and once i even did a 72h fast.
I have been bloated for a month. Tried taking ACV and intermittent fasting, but it hasn't gone away and just got worse. I feel fasting is the only option to reset.
@@Godisfirst21 That’s awful! Hopefully you’ll feel better more and more than feeling worse. I’ve been omad (one meal a day) since June 2019 more or less. I’ve been maintaining my weight this way too.
@@Godisfirst21 Hi, As long as I’m low carb I don’t feel bloated but there are times I’ll indulge and unfortunately pay for it later. But overall I do consider myself low carb, low sugar, and omad.
1. multiple sclerosis animal model 2. 10 days fasting 3. Study on squirrels 4. Deprivation of fiber increased the brake down for the mucus layer. ‘Low-fiber diet promotes expansion and activity of colonic mucus-degrading bacteria’.
Exercise your free will. You can do it you don't need to have something just because you see it more you exercise your decision-making the stronger you'll be
Got that koso stuff to try, I’m getting ready to do my first 48 hour fast in a really long time. I looked into that stuff and their cleanses seem great. I am obese and sick all the time and it’s horrible. I went through months where every morning I was throwing up and it would last most of the day. I was so depressed and it was awful, giving up processed food and sugar has helped a lot, but I really need an even bigger change. Thanks for all the info you provide, the koso looks like a really good product and I’m excited for it, I also hope that supporting your sponsors helps support you. People like you are really great for people like me.
Can you do a video about sleep while fasting? Because I am Fasting and want to sleep so much more!! What do u think about sleeping a lot when I fast? Thanks and please give links to your sources!
I have been in keto and on a very clean keto diet for about 2.5 months consuming about 1500 cal a day and never going over 20-25 net carbs a day (lost 30lbs in the 2 months). I test blood daily to confirm im in ketosis over this past 2 months. Last night i caved (first cheat day since started keto) and ate 17 chicken mc nuggets double quarter pounder with cheese and a large fry. With all that i probably consumed about 200g carbs. this morning after having a black coffee and drinking 1/2 gallon of water to flush my system i tested my ketones. This is 17 hours after i ate the 200g carbs. My ketones were at 0.6 which for me confirms im still in ketosis. Why didn't last nights carb binge throw me completely out of ketosis. My normal ketone levels over these past 2 months were always in the range of 0.5-1.5 i usually hover around .05-1.0 on average.
It's super easy to ferment your own food for probiotics. Raw pickled onions are amazing. All you do is cover them in salt water and keep them underwater. The prebiotic fiber is built in.
My personal experience, when my gut is inflamed by legumes or dairy or overeating, I would have this wild glucose intolerance (+90 mg/dl 2 hours after eating salmons). This will not disappear until I fast for at least around 22 hours. After the fasting day I would be pretty normal and can wat easily low carb food without spiking blood sugar.
ive lost 45 over a few months doing bare minimum, 2 meals a day, cut out most sugars and many carbs but not even strict. i've appreciated your informative videos, but one word to people. It's NOT that complicated. Just do it, sort out the details as you go.
The longer you do keto the more carbs you can tolerate because your body can snap back into ketosis quickly. Most snacks under 20gs of carbs in moderation are acceptable when you are fully keto adapted, everybody is different and has different goals so sometimes strict is the way to go, especially early on.
After a 36 hour fast, I started with veggies & omelet and went into a watery diarrhea at least a 12 times in the next 12 hours. It got resolved when I took an econorm capsule the next morning. Now I understand why.
This product works so well. I did a one day cleanse using this product to greatly reduce my hives from sleeping on a down pillow. It worked better than taking Benedryl and other allergy meds to get rid of my itchy skin and hives. In theory, the probiotics may help reduce histamines, which did in my case. It also helps make your stools softer if someone has issues going to the bathroom!
The video is really amazing!! Just a request: could you please add a suggestion for vegetarians/vegans when possibly describing the ideal food intake in your videos? I always have a doubt what would be the ideal alternative for vegetarian and vegan folks for the food suggestion. Thanks a lot for such amazing content!!!
The only thing that helped my digestion was Carnivore. It's been absolutely amazing. I was doing all kinds/lengths of fasting but the minute I would eat anything my issues would come back. Once I cut everything but animal products, it literally change overnight. I think this is my happy place.
I might be wrong, but I thought that was if you were not fat-adapted. At least his arguments seemed to revolve around that, no? I got the impression that you should be good if you're on keto, but then again, it got me a bit confused as well
Clarification question: last month you said to not have salt after a fast and that it was, "much better to have a little bit of salt water during a prolonged fast." This video says to have some right before breaking a fast. Any help understanding would be much appreciated.
Hi Thomas! Thanks for all your knowledge! You are so appreciated!!! Question... I have been vegan for 6.5 years and been intermittent fasting on and off for almost 2 years. I love and recommend both! I am 50 now and started heavy weight training to transform my body to be more muscular. My friend keeps telling me to have a protein shake after our daily workouts but I am worried to break my fast so early on the morning, as I usually wait till around 2 to eat. And what kind of protein do you suggest? Do you have a suggestion for a daily meal plan for this type of diet and exercise plan?? Thanks so much.
I'm doing 24hours fasting and 1 hour eating for at least 2 week in a row. It's going great. I'm not hungry at all. Is this good or harmful to my body... Help!!!
Please anyone who has the answer please let me know Thomas question for you please answer: I do 18-6 fasts, Before breaking my fast i drink water with salt to lower insulin levels and cortisol levels. My second meal is 5 hours after my first meal.Do i need to do something to lower my cortisol or insulin for my second meal too?or am i good by just doing it for the first meal
Thomas, a question if I may: I’ve moved to every other day intermittent fasting, and majority keto. My question is when you have a lapse (ie a birthday where I did consume birthday cake and carbs), clearly this will cause an insulin spike but how quickly will my system return to low insulin as I return to my IF/keto. Do I have to start all over again?
I would love an online course of human health from A-Z, like divided in different programs maybe, like kind of academy, i think i would understand much better your YT videos, your videos would be like the updates, or could make the course with you tube videos, I dont know, an online course of thomas DeLauer i think it would be the best, and most appliedd one. Like something interactive well organized i think at the end of the day Health is a knowledge many people is wanting to masterise. Think about it!
I’ve heard that probiotics will worsen the effects of SIBO because it will add to the bacteria load. Is this accurate? Does anybody have any experience with this?
The KOSO is ridiculously EXPENSIVE!!!! You can accomplish the same thing with FAR LESS money spending. Ridiculous. This Japanese guy must be a multimillionaire by now.
Hi, I want to do the keto diet to loose 20 kgs... a month ago my doctor told me that I have high triglycerides. I haven't tried to fix it because I wasn't in the right headspace... anyway now I am. So, can I do this Keto diet with high Triglycerides or.. maybe not? I tried looking for a video about the keto diet when you have high triglycerides but you have so many and can't find this topic in particular. You're the only one I know that knows everything (scientific and all) about keto. Thank you so much and Many thanks !!!
I've been trying to find some information about drinking flavored black coffee and if it's okay. I've been drinking flavored k cups in the morning with no cream or sweeteners. I'm just curious if the "flavored" black coffee would break a fast.
@@vegasrob28 Well... per my math, and presuming a constant rate of fat loss the entire time, in 700hrs I would have lost 14.58lbs of fat. Now at the end of my fast, I only had 17lbs. of fat left on me. Your idea would leave me with 2.4lbs. of body fat on me, or 1.8% bodyfat. Basically... I would be dead, or at sever risk of death:-)
B vitamins, iron (if you are deficient) ensure well hydrated and have adequate minerals in the right balance (not just sodium). Make sure your blood sugars are balanced by avoiding carbs and fast acting sugar. Ketones provide sustained fuel. Adaptogens such as adaptogenic mushrooms and maca can help along with green tea. Sleep well and exercise/be physically active in the day.
I'm a bit confused about consuming fructose after breaking your fast. In previous videos Thomas said consume 10-15g which I have been doing for months but now you don't even need it at all?
I’m vegetarian, what do you recommend I break my longer term fasts with?? Also, I used to do a 24 hour fast every other day and had great results with weight loss and overall energy but I’m concerned that maybe that was too extreme. I want to do it again to kickstart weight loss. What’s your opinion on the alternate day 24-36 hour fasts for like a month?
I recommend you stop being vegan, seriously, I know that you don't want to hear that, but there is no health/enviromental/moral reason to be vegan. Just stop it.
@@madeleinecoker294 Im just answering what thomas or any other person with common nutritional sense would say, and I don't care wheter you like what Im telling you or not. Vegetarian is def less bad than vegan, since you can have eggs, but still restrictive when it comes to the nutritional value in other sources of animal products. And don't get me started on the unnatural aspect and the overconsumption of fiber and anti-nutrients in this sort of diet. Well, hope you do well on it long-term, its not my point here to tell you what to do, but I believe everyone should have common scientific knowleadge to understand how misleading certain nutritional "evidence" based on epidemiology can be, and then make their own eating decisions afterwards.
@@rappatenebrense there is definitely a moral reason. Everyone of us have our own moral compass, and some of us are not comfortable with killing a sentient animal for food, when it is fully possible to live a healthy life(and eat good food too) without killing animals.
Would daily 20/4 IF plus a weekly 24 hour fast be too much? I make sure to get at least 1600 calories and it's usually 1800-2000. Active female, ~50lbs overweight but losing on keto.
No that's fine. People have gone years on 20/4 called the warrior diet. I am on 20/4 and do a weekly 48 or even 72hr fast. Gotten incredible results in just this summer.
Sup Thomas..I have an interesting question..Hopefully I can put it to make sense..so keto is a new thing by science..keto suggest that we use fat as fuel and put glucose in the back burner..But the body seems to by nature use glucose and muscles use glucose as fuel..that being said, with out keto..is it safe to say that using food as a timely tool thats to convert to glucose anyway mean that u get in shape with out keto ...you'd have to either way eat as basic as possible? In other words by not overdoing and just include nutrition and the amounts? Without keto how would one get in shape? Cause it seems like there are people who just do things in particular
And is it safe to say those that get results are just the individual themselves looking and Googling into data and develop particularity of their own..
Looking to do another prolong fast...problem is this time I have guy issues like GERD/ gastritis.......feels like I always have to have food in my stomach now or else my symptoms get worse So how can I fast and use autophagy to heal these issues when I can barely function when my stomach stuff is acting up from lack
I slowly drink 2 cups bone broth with a few tablespoons of nutritional yeast to break my fast. An hour or so later, I have 1-2 TBS of cultured veggie juice and more bone broth. If I'm still hungry, I have about 2 oz of white fish or lean chicken breast. If not, I go to bed with just the broth. I can't handle more than this. Next day, eat low fat and low carb. Hope this helps!
HI I have watched your RU-vid videos and wanted your recommendation. For a Male that is 6'1 and 210lbs and has had a stroke for 3 years now with limited speech and limited movement in the right arm. What supplement would you recommend for the recovery of these issues. ( would the supplements recommended be available to buy at costco or any local drugstore? ) Also do you believe a keto diet will be ideal for this particular person? I have contacted Bobby Parrish (RU-vid channel Flavcity) in the past and have not gotten a response I wanted to know if you would be able to give me an answer.
Avinash Ramtahal... please go to Dr Boz ru-vid.com She has a protocol for many of the issues you describe, I think it would be a great place to start...
There is so much more to this than just recommending supplements ..what were the risk factors ? Diabetes ? High blood pressure? Age? Alcohol/drug use ? These can all play a part in risk factors for stroke and health in general...the most important thing would be to clean up the diet ..go low carb / keto (focusing on healthy fats and whole foods like veggies and grass fed meats ) . Fasting can do a lot to heal but not if the body is starving for nutrients due to lifestyle a 16/8 would be ideal ...I would suggest nutrifying the body with natural plant sourced vitamins and minerals before for at least a month of so before considering a long fast (provided that's what they are willing to do ) I would say they are now on blood thinners ? If not then 3000 mg omega 3s daily ..nattokinase ..both will help blood viscosity along with ginger ,garlic , cayenne if tolerated ..other meds ? That can be tricky and best to consult a professional on that one..No obviously I am not Thomas but hope this helps 😊
I am slightly confused. So a 24 hour fast is literally the same as OMAD. When I do a one meal a day I eat a full meal with veggies and all in one sitting. Sounds a bit of a drag to first just drink salt water, then eat lean protein half an hour later and then another hour later a full meal again?!? Not sure about this one tbh...
Good for you....what about your cortisol that will skyrocket ? What about if your powerlifting with many hundreds of pounds ? Did they test the mice that were lifting weights Thomas ? 24 hour fast during that ?
