I’m a 71 year old female. I’m the original owner of a 2004 Honda Accord with only 61K miles. Last evening I was positive my headlights weren’t working. There were areas of my route I had to use high beams. When I got home, I discovered they were working but the lens were so cloudy very little light was getting through. I texted some male friends and said they can be cleaned for $100-300. I discovered your video! I have the Mr Clean magic erasers. I just used a couple days ago to clean the white edge of my tennis shoes. I will buy the spray protectant and clean ASAP. Thank you for your excellent tutorial. I have been able to diagnose and fix several problems myself by watching Utube videos. I will let you know how my application goes. Thank you from Dallas

Thanks for your advice. I found a bicarb (baking) soda toothpaste which worked really well. I was left with a fine haze, though. My finishing touch was an application of "Brasso" metal polish: Rub on, leave to dry, then polish off vigorously with a soft cloth. The result is magic! I use Brasso to clean scratches off CDs & DVDs too..!

Use a small foam pad on a drill instead of a toothbrush, and you will get much better results. Then put a coat of wax on it and buff it out. When you've done that, use a nano wax product of your choice on the headlights, and follow up with a clean foam pad and you will have the best looking headlights around. Good luck with your restoration project, take care, and stay safe.

Only if you have a drill. As a woman I never had a need for a drill. I'm beginning to see a drill is actually a very helpful item for more than one type of use. I wouldn't know what kind to get though. Are they all the same? I miss my late husband 😒 he took care of all these kinds of things. Everybody should at least learn how to do stuff in case you find yourself in the position to need that skill. 👍

@@BabyMonkeyDefender Definitely get a drill. And different size drill bits. You can use the drill to make holes and to turn screws. It beats a butter knife. @paulflack5033
@paulflack5033 Год назад
Wrong, lol. You realize our stomachs are full of acid, right? And even in your mouth and throat, you have a constant supply of saliva and mucus that minimize any damage, much less the effects you see on plastic. And If you never brush your teeth with fluoride the sugar from the soda will lead to much more damage than any acid.

@thestranger1164
@thestranger1164 Год назад
Just get a turtle wax restoration kit and put a lot of clear coating on after your done. The grit paper sands off all of the oxidation and the clear coat protects it from the sun for atleast a year. After any of these in this video you can expect oxidation after 3-6 months. That's why the kit is worth 20$.

@MegaTapdog
@MegaTapdog Год назад
Find out where moisture is entering, repair it. drill a small hole in an inconspicuous spot and use a hand held vacuum pump to pull a vacuum and hold it for awhile, this will do two things. It will evacuate moisture (same as pulling a vacuum on an a/c system) and it will confirm you have fixed your moisture entry leak. Remove pump, seal hole immediately with your choice of quick setting sealant.

Very good tips. Never knew about the baking soda and peroxide. I always did the wet sanding and compound. Also, never knew about the clear coat after it. I always just waxed it afterwards to give it an extra layer of protection. It usually lasted about 6 months or so, but i can see that the clear coat would give me a couple years depending on whether i park outside or in a garage. Good info and tips.

FAST FAST FAST Acetone(nail varnish remover) on a microfibre cloth. One pass. Then autoglym(polish) spray and quick buff. Amazing result in about a minute and very little effort.

I use acetone nail polish remover too. Makes them crystal clear in one pass. Don't make more than one pass...additional passes cause the fog again. Don't get it on the paint. What is autoglym spray? Where do I get it, please?

@@Lili-xq9sn autoglym is a car polish, available online or car accessories shops. Brilliant low labour spray polish
