Another outstanding instructional video Jeff I always watch from start to finish a few times to get all the tips and use it to better my own attempts!!!! Keep up the awesome videos and that Willy is an awesome addition to that collection!!!!!
Hey Christopher, ya know when I first started...1000 was just a pipedream, but now, getting closer! Take care Christopher, thanks so much for watching, see ya!!
Hey Curtis, thank you so much for the kind words, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on my videos. Have fun Curtis, let me know if you need anything, see ya!!
MrJ great video I've learn so much from you watching your videos thank you for the Demonstration of the back axle and the crown gear with out even knowing it I've learned the different on which axles to put on my tjets. I take it when the were made by Aurora they put short axles on them?
Mr. B, you are welcome. I thought you might know the back axle and crown gear was a nod to your question last week!! Regarding the standard T-Jet 500, yes, they came with the shorter ales, front and back. As always, thank you so much for watching, let me know if you need anything.
Hey Roy, the Willy's has got to be one of everybody's favorites. It looks absolutely amazing just sitting there. The lines of the body are perfect!! See ya Roy.
I'm thinking though that the car as arrived may have been factory original? Perhaps the factory was simply using up the rims? I'm glad that you are putting the chassis back to near original.
Hey Christopher, as far as I know, Aurora always made the Tuff Ones with a wider axle in the back with wider slicks and the front axle they used a small nail. So, I think the last owner may have originally had the chassis dressed-out like a Tuff Ones chassis but over time used the rims on a different slot car. Let me know if you need anything, see ya!!
Jeff, since you asked what I need to watch 😊... I remember you mentioning you were going to redo your track layout. Old Aurora track has such interesting pieces like turn outs and hills and other pieces. I'm curious about that too!
@@christopherbusch1933 Hey Christopher, thanks for asking. I am gathering supplies for making the table and I have been buying some hard to find Aurora track pieces. I do like the Single Lane Turn Offs, all the single lane stuff really appeals to me. The kind of track I really don't care for are the ones that seem to have been designed to destroy our slot cars. Examples: the Loop the Loop, the Crisscross Curves & Straightaways, the Squeeze track, the Tire Blowout track, the 4 Way Intersection, the Train Crossing track, the entire Stunt Set Course...I've even seen car fly of the track just by hitting the Rough Road track too fast...I really like a lot of Aurora's track pieces, but I really don't want to damage my slot car simply by using the 'fun' tack they made, right?! So there is another factor regarding me starting my new layout...I have to get my garage air conditioned. This time of year it's more tolerable in the garage, but Florida seems to have 9 months of Summer every year. AC is a must. Often it's so hot and humid in the garage, I'll have shoot my slot car videos between 3-5am. Thanks again for the question Christopher, take care, see ya!!
Hey Clyde, I recall as a kid using the WD-40 to oil my slot cars...that's when I learned if a chassis starts to smoke right after you've oiled it...you put way too much on. Thanks for watching Clyde!!
I always admire your procedures for reconditioning. However the one thing I disagree with you on is the use of a Dremel tool. I find using a rotary tool is harsh. I personally prefer. emery cloth, sandpaper, or pencil erasers to clean with. I do love your videos.
Hey Terry, I have been critiqued on my use of the Dremel wire brush a number of times over the years. It always comes from someone who hasn’t used my technique. What I think people fail to really understand is that the comm plate is a tri-laminate and is very, very durable. In addition, I have over 4 decades of 100% success using the Dremel wire brush without any damage to an armature whatsoever. And as I’ve said many times, if someone would present me a quick, better way to address the comm plate, I’m all ears. Take care Terry, see ya!
I really like "ratherboring"'s stuff on ebay... But if you buy the silver repop rims, they are undersized and the tires won't stay on. They measure less than 4.6mm when they should be close to 4.8mm. They sell great other parts, though. Just thought I'd mention it
Hey Christopher, you are absolutely correct. I noticed that right after they started making them...years ago. For tires, I usually find new old stock still on the card tires & rims, this way I get a great, tight fit. Regarding their bumpers, windshields etc. I have had to tweak some of their items to get them to fit or work properly, but just minor stuff really. Overall, they make some superb reproduction products for our old slot car, and for that reason alone, I am truly thankful they are keeping the hobby alive.
Nice car nice work on the car i have learned a lot from you Jeff on how to work on my tjets i just work on no accent blue Dino and a no accent green mayco i been getting some nice tjets no how to build and buy them this came about from looking at your video,s you always got something going on well hope all is good see you no the next one thanks for the tips
Hey Jeff as always enjoy watching your videos, I have learned a lot! Question: where do you find the best place to buy tjet parts? axel, shoes, brushes, tires etc trying to stay as close to original as possible without going broke in the process. Thanks Chris
Hey Chris, I use 'Ratherboring" on eBay, here's his link: www.ebay.com/sch/ratherboring/m.html?_trkparms=folent%3Aratherboring%7Cfolenttp%3A1&rt=nc&_dmd=2 This is the guy who starts Model Motoring back in the 90s. Great stuff, check um out!!
Also check out: OS3 aka one stop slop shop, Dash Motorsports, Jag Hobbies, and Slot Car Central. They all sell different parts. For tires, always ask/look for what compound they use (rubber, silicone, urethane). The silicone will have tons of traction but rubber is more fun and authentic.
That is a really nice car i only got to 2 of them but the other ones are JL and AW with tjets in Them just picked up the chrome Willy's Gasser from JL i had been looking for this car from the time Thay came out with it a that was very long time ago but i got it 11--21-- 2022 on my DOB so now i have all of them the blue red gold green chrome.well just sitting here looking at your video and my 250,s fastbacks from road race replicas for my track the new 4 line gotta get you some pictures and track mate i need sale him some of my 1/32 scale cars that are truly mint in BOX never no track time but Thay gotta go anyway Nice talking with ya see on next video.
Hey Craig, I love the Willys, they look like they are fast just sitting there. Regarding Phil Pignon and his crew at Road Race Replicas, they have always produced some of the finest, high quality slot cars/parts!! Thank for watching Craig, take care.
Hey MrB, in the standard T-Jet chassis, the magnets don't seem to be painted like the way Aurora did them for the AFX cars. If I'm not mistaken, the AFX magnets are a bit stronger. Take care MrB, see ya!!
