On my RU-vid channel I'll be providing tips and information on how to restore the old Thunderjet Slot cars. Also I will be posting some fun with guitars!!
Get yourself a small ultrasonic cleaner for jewelry. You can drop the whole assembled chassis in a mild vinegar solution. It cleans them incredibly well.
since I have been watching your video on rebuilding chassis, as soon as you took apart the chassis, I spotted the brush stuck in the hole which turned out to be your problem. thanks for the great videos
Hey Jeff what size styrene tube do you use for your t-jet screw posts and where can I get it from because I need to do some fixing on my t-jet cars that I kept for over 40 years. I really would like to do it right so I can see them go around my track once again. thanks.
Hey Daniel, I am so glad you are going to fix up your old slot cars, you're gonna have a blast! The screw post tubing is made by Evergreen, 5/32" I think. They are made out of styrene, here's a link to some Evergreen tubing on eBay: www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Evergreen+Styrene+Tubing&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1313 Caution: the tubing I use has to be filled with glue in order to grab the screw properly. I put some glue in the tubing, let it dry, and then I tap it with the screw, works quite well.
Awesome, as usual! So, I'm back with another silly question .so, just recently scored a Tjet wtih a Ferrari body, Aj aluminum rear rims for $17 bucks on Ebay! It's been repainted and, although it's not the best, it's not bad, was just gonna get another body from Rather Boring on Ebay, but, might pass, so, my question to you, the master, is the rims are rather tainted, need to buff them, have a dremmel tool, but, bit is kinda large, should I purchase smaller bits/+ buffing compound for project? Thanks again!
Mustang turned out great, I really like your choice of driver. I may be wrong, but I think both screw posts on the yellow Camaro are high, defiantly the rear one needs adjustment. Funny thing is back in my early years of T-jets I would have thought being jacked up is cool. Happy to hear you are doing well.
@@jettafixer7 Hey, it’s nice to be able to have a shot at doing a project over again and I’m pleased how it turned out! Thank you for kind words and thoughts, we certainly appreciate it. 🙏
That was fun, Jeff ,,would you be willing to just send a car to a guy kinda like a surprise I could send you money and then you just pick a car and send it to me. I was thinking that would be kind of cool.😁 or at least I could say make it a magnet traction, chassis or TJ chassis type of car maybe just a narrow down a little bit👍
Hi Jeff, I'm glad that your family was safe through the storm. Didn't know that you were in that part of Florida. Again, glad you and your family are well. Look forward to more great videos.👍🏾👍🏾
Hey TC, I have not heard of that technique, sounds like a pro tip!! I'll have to give it a whirl, thank you Sir! I sincerely hope you and your family is doing well, take care TC.
@@tccrownhart9642 Hey Thomas, your support is truly appreciated and so much more than you know. I am so sorry for the accident you had, they can be very stressful to get through. May you and your family be in our Lord’s favor and protection 🙏
Glad your ok Jeff. Some got it worse. I hope you can recover fast! I know how you feel. I’ve experienced 2 tornados from a distance and the power of nature is incredible to say the least. I have lived throug 115 mph duratio but that is just 1 gust, not sustained winds.
@@stevenhyde4855 Hey Steven, thank you so much for your kind words, we certainly appreciate them! I’ve lived in Florida for the last 60 years, this hurricane has been the most devastating nightmare I’ve lived through. Feeling your house shaking as the wind sheer tears your roof apart is absolutely frightening. Have 15 tornadoes in our area touch down at the same time of the hurricane… is a nightmare. On top of that we are still trying to recover from Helene two weeks ago. I wish these circumstances on no one. May you and your family be in our Lord’s protection and favor 🙏
@@BigDaddyCaveman1 Hey Cave, so glad to hear you guys got through the storm. Getting a double shot of the freaking hurricane eye wall in nothing less than terrifying. Cleanup efforts will gradually get back to some normalcy. Thanks for thinking of us Cave, you’re the best!!
Hey Gene, IO wonder if PayPal means for me or for your email address. I just don't know. Again thank you so much caring and supporting us. Gene, you = awesomeness!!
@@RichsSlotcarRoom hey Rich, I can’t thank you enough for thinking of us right now. Hurricanes eye walls are freaking terrifying. I’m sorry you had to endure them in Mississippi, I wish this upon no one. Take care Rich!
@@tycobrasilautorama Hey Tyco, your blessings is truly appreciated right. Thank you so very much! And may you and your family be in our Lords favor & protection 🙏
Hey Steve, most of my cases are made by Aurora. The big dark blue one was originally a vitamin salesman's product case. The doctor I work for was throwing it out and I thought my slot cars would fit in it, so I brought it home. Thank you so much for the question, let me know if you need anything.
Hey Willys, I believe it's an Aurora truck axle. I could be wrong, I know I used whatever was handy at the time. Listen, take pictures along the way, you'll be thankful you did! I'd love to see as well. Take care Willys.
Hello Jeff i've been watching your videos e for a couple years now. I'm a retired auto painter with 51 years in the auto collison business. Here's a tip for cleaning and polishing slot cars use mother's mag polish to remove grime and scuffs. Wash off with soapy dish water, dry and use virgin olive oil on glass and body. Thanks for all you do for the hobby. HO slot cars are just one of my many hobbies. Mike Gilliland
Hey, sorry it took so long for me to get back with you...the hurricane boggled everything up. The Dragula was a labor of love to do. I had the Munster Coach already done and seemed to beckon its rightful companion, so I had to go for it and it worked!
I'm glad you did this. I wouldn't mind having a pair of these. I think, maybe, a gentleman name Jim Miller of HWP (Facebook and Shapeway) may have the right chassis to fit those cars.
@@rodneyfox5397 The Jag DK series of chassis should work just fine. Me being an Aurora chassis fan, I had to approach the conversations with the Slimline chassis.
Hey Jeff, cool stuff as always ! I am getting relaxed and ready to start painting the detail on the little Ford wagon you sent me. Wish me luck brother. A great alternative to using valuable Slim Line chassis on custom projects is to use the little Jag DK-4 chassis. The second generation DK-4"s are fitted with a small diode that allows you to run them using standard AFX/Tyco controllers. As you know, the first gen DK's were either all the way on or all the way off, no low speed control without an electronic controller to dial the sensitivity down. The second gen DK is now the perfect chassis for customs. Very small in size, great tires and wheels (the chrome won't even come off with oven cleaner), screw on body mounting and inexpensive to boot ! They sell for 20 bucks plus shipping. Save all your good T-Jet and Slim line chassis for the real thing. As you can tell, I really think a lot of not only these little chassis but Jag as a company. I use tons of their stuff not just because they make great, high quality products, but because Jag is solid, honest outfit. We will talk soon Jeff.
