Mom of 4 here, helping my son on a lawn for his summer lawn business and I jumped on here and learned so quick how to restring his weed eater while not bothering him out in the zero turn. Your voice is perfect and your demonstration clear and precise! I watched 3 other videos and yours was by far the best! Thank you so so so much!!!
This came in handy! My father borrowed one of these as our current one is broken. I could not figure it out haha. Now I got it. Gonna finish cutting the grass. You’re a savior man.
Thanks. I watched your video and went right out and re-strung the thing in about 2 minutes. I had a longer piece of string so I held each end down by stepping on them. Then I kept the spool tight against them as I wound it up. Worked great. Thanks again.
Thanks so much!!!! My husband did not get a chance to restring for me and I was at a loss. I couldn't wait for him to get home to do this and it is such a beautiful day to work outdoors. Your video saved the day!
Thank you for taking the time to help. I could never get this, now I can . Thank for making a difference in the world, for making it better for others. Heman
Great job..that was very helpful...I can't tell you how many times I've avoided stringing that trimmer. I used to buy the head already loaded (very expensive) or just having my sons (29-31) to it..I just followed your video and it looks good to go. I'll try it later. I figured I've done enough work for the day..lol.
Thanks. There are several SRM 225 stringing videos, but none for 210. Good job. I still don't know what the little holes are for that are in the interior of each compartment of the spool though.
Those holes are actually for the manufacturer's recommended way of restringing it. You take 2 strands instead of one, insert one end of each strand in one of the holes on each side of the divider, and wrap them; everything else as in the above video. Been doing it for 10 years. However, the holes have now wallowed out on my spool and I can no longer do it that way. So this video saved me the approx. $25 it costs to buy a new spool. Seems to work fine. Many thanks to Chris Berry. Some youtube videos are gifts that keep on giving.
Hi Awesome video! Thanks so very much! My friend always tried to show me how but don't think he really wanted me to know how! The manual isn't clear either so this video got me there. Totally cool.
Thx mate... the replacement head I bought is this one and there were no instructions with it... I guess I could do it the way you demonstrate - but there is another video that shows the echo rep just winding it in without having to take the spool out... I have tried and tried to do this but no go... so - I guess I will do it your way... mahalo again.
Just about to fire up my SRM 210 and I've never figured out how to restring it. I've put string on it but not the correct way. Now, if I could only get mine to running right, I'd be ok.
thanks man i live on a farm and this really helped this may sound sucky but i get 10 bucks everytime i weedwack so thanks bro your epic BTW im only 12 years old :D
I was given a SRM-210 sn 05076124. Stuck a new OEM ZAMA carb on it, and it started on the 2nd pull. Weedeated my yard for about 20 min and it worked perfect. Then i took the spool off to replace the line. No big deal i thought. My spool only has one section to wind the string into. Not like the video's, with an extra section. Its Similiar to my STHIL weed eater. It is not feeding properly. Stringing in the proper direction on the spool. This model has 5 different user manuals, and there was a recall on the fuel line setup. But its running fine until i tried to restring it.
Unless this spool is different then the one's I've had on my Echo's (the video is not clear enough to tell, then there's another way to rap the line. My spools have had two holes that you insert each end of the line in, and then wrap it as shown on the video. And after you have locked the string into place, you then cut the loop end, so both ends are the same length. I have a SMR-210 as well as a PAS-266. My replacement head for the SMR as well as what came on the new PAS was a single spool, not dual. I tried the single spool, and was not happy, so I went back to the dual, and just ordered me two new duals. I also just found out that the newer single spool can't be wrapped like the old ones. You insert the ends of the string into the trimmer head, and then wind the string in, and then cut the ends. I use 18 feet of .105 string, and have been getting by with about 20 of .095 Also, why is .095 string so popular? I accidentally ordered 5lb. of .095 Echo round line, and I'm debating should I return it or keep it. My dealer doesn't even stock .105, and I love how my Echo Crossfire.105 string preforms on concrete. I just bought some Silver Streak, the Optimum and Fire .105 round to try, as they say round is even better on concrete. Also, yesterday was the first time ever, I've had an issue with old 2 cycle gas. I believe I'll be investing in some 50 to 1 ethanol premix for this fall. And can't wait until ethanol free gas is available at the pump.
I don't know much about weed-eating. When I put this video up 4 years ago, there was no other video covering how to re-string the SRM -210 and just thought it would be helpful. Good luck!
Yep, that's the manufacturer's recommended way of doing it. However, after doing that for 10 years now, those insert holes have wallowed out on mine and will no longer hold the string. So this video saved me the approx. $25 it costs to buy a new spool. Thanks to my fellow Okie for the now 6-yr. old video.
the owners manual is useless and I've watched 4 separate videos and there all showing a different process for winding the string what a joke i guess I'll try each one till it works properly
Safari Lawn Care Atlanta Go bother someone else. 70k views and 186 thumbs up beg to differ. I took time out of my day to try and help others since, at the time, there was no other video on this. Don’t you have lawns to mow?
