As a practitioner of Korean and Vietnamese Folk Religion/Paganism, I'm glad that our Pagan traditions have survived and even thrives in Vietnam as the largest religion. It is interesting to see that Paganism is being reconstructed and being brought back to life in the West. As I have learned a bit about Greek and Roman Paganism in college, I noticed that there were so many similarities between our current Pagan practices in Asia and the Pagan practices of Ancient Europe. I think it would be beneficial for Western Pagan Reconstructionists and us to learn from each other. I think it would be nice for Pagan Reconstructionists to also learn from some of our belief and practices as I think it is likely that the ancient European Pagans and our modern day Asian Polytheists share many similarities in religious practices and we were able to preserve most of our ancient practices.
Would you make a movie about Hellenism?🥺 Because you have already touched on topics of other pagan paths on the channel and I would love to hear about the faith in Greek gods, traditions, holidays etc.❣
Anyone interested in the impact Christianity had on pagan Europe should read the book The Darkening Age by Catherine Nixey. It really is a sobering account of the true loss of traditional clutures, knowledge, art etc.throughout the classical world and beyond.
Ancestral veneration has been helpful for me to fill in some of the blanks on neo Paganism. Historical connections to include archeological research always helpful.
Last night's Pagan Happy Hour was the first that I have been able to attend live, and I really enjoyed it, though due to it being after midnight when it finished (I'm in the UK), I have let it until this morning before leaving a comment. As someone very new to paganism, in that I only admitted to myself that I am a Pagan a month ago, the biggest challenges that I find when trying to resurrect ancient beliefs are: 1) lack of reliable information. I feel drawn to the Celtic and Norse Gods, and have to accept that the information that we know on these ancient Gods was written by Christian monks (or Romans in the case of the Celts), neither of which saw these Pagan religions in a favourable light. Therefore nearly everything has to be taken with a pinch of salt. 2) lack of community. What I mean by this is the lack of being able to meet with like minded people to discuss Pagan issues. Being able to chart your own Pagan path is all well and good, but for someone who is new to it all, it can be a little overwhelming. Ok, Corvid is not exactly helping in such matters, but even finding other Pagan in real life is a challenge. Your videos have helped tremendously in this regard, but at time I feel the need to have someone to actually talk to about these things. As for the part on do we or don't we need a hierarchy in Paganism, in some ways I can see the potential beginnings of such, it is just a matter of if we want it and how we can ensure that it does not stifle what Paganism means to us. Looking at the Pagan Happy Hour last night, it had a similar format to when the ancient Greek philosophers would lead public discussions on various topics. In our case Scarlet was the philosopher who called us together and chaired the discussion. The only real difference is that we did not meet in person, and from what I saw it made it harder for people to ask questions, with Scarlet admitting at one stage that the comments were coming in too fast for her to keep up with. This is no a criticism, just an observation. To my mind it is people like Scarlet that we need, as in people who are willing to lead discussions and help others along their individual paths, rather than someone who just preaches and tries to tell other what they must believe. Whether we need a title for such people (priest/priestess/teacher/philosopher) is a matter for the community, but I feel that such titles should be awarded by the community rather than taken by the individual. So as a community we could decide to award Scarlet with the title of Priestess, but a person should not be able to award themselves with a title. And of course the community should be able to remove such titles if the person is no longer leading discussions. As for any hierarchy above the teacher/priests, that I have no real ideas on. Where I can see the potential need to have someone who can represent the Pagan community to the wider world, someone who can make statements to the media when things touch on Pagan matters, I just am not sure have we can organise such. Sorry for such a long rant. Thank you for all your videos Scarlet, they have been a real blessing
I find that the Aminos app (they have pagan groups and witches groups too) has been helpful in finding more information through other pagans that do their research too. A lot of people communicate and give helpful advice in these groups too. They also have ongoing chats. The groups will have wiki pages or like saved sections of particular research posts. So whole sections on Norse paganism, etc. Even herbs and other things you want detailed knowledge on if you're into herb ritual or using herbs in general, just as an example.
Asatru exploded because it is one of the best documented original European religion and thus easy to follow with feeling of being a part of community (a.k.a everyone believes basically same myths). It is also rather easily adoptable by non-germanic Europeans because lets be hones, Norse gods are same gods worshiped by Slavs, Romans or Greeks... different names, same deities.
I am really new at this, learning everyday. To be honest I'm really not sure who or what I am at this precise moment, but I'm really drawn to Wiccan and Paganism. How do I find my Ancestors?
Hi. I am going back and watching these Friday night happy hours. I believe for the most part organized religions are corrupt. I would hate to see Pagans going the same way. Blessings.
I enjoy your videos very much. Here you mention a book " Key to Immortality." On Amazon I found two books with that title...to which book/author are you referencing?
The hardest part is the part that can never come back. Human sacrifice, etc. I mean, we want and need to do it but... It's reserved for only the most egregious offences. Meaning it can and does happen but shouldn't. Although it has to.
Ok, so 23:13... Here we go again. NO! "Christians" did not do this nor would Christians ever do this! Catholicism took Christianity and twisted it into something other than what Christ and Christians believe! This is so horrible to hear that 1400 years later the same Catholic lies are being yold! Think about it! Jesus died on the cross for peace! His followers are for peace! Why in the world would we be killing millions of Pagans?! It makes ZERO sense! Catholics on the otherhand, known gor scapegoating and blaming the other ARE GUILTY!!! Of taking Christian religion and abusing it to this end! HORRIBLE!!! Wake up!
@@donningarmour2873 Keep your eyes open I will bet my house the MSM version of heathen/pagan/ etc etc will be represented by an African, whether this be a Netflix or ‘academic’ documentary. Just as they are saying the Vikings were diverse gender flip flippers
True religion is really a spiritual journey... Race, and ethnicity isn't relavent! Does it mean that you should be a Viking to be a Norse pagan, or a Greek to practice Hellenism??? Answer is 100% no! Religion doesn't belong to anyone in particular.
Thank you for keeping politics out of the conversation that is great no course you don't understand what you're coming from y'all about sure thing it's all about another whole Ballgame lyrics that's a whole nother ballgame ascertain if you don't understand about
Do you have any connection to the old goddess Holle or know something special about her? I red that she might combines all aspects of Frigg, Freya and Hel in one goddess in the old continantal germanic beliefs 🤔🤷😅
That's really big issue when you have a the guys in prison using the Norse religion as a hate crime or not crime but as a hate religion now they're stupid when they should be actually listening to what the true meaning of odinism actually is
Do what I do! Just show your surroundings related to the content you're discussing and do a voice over :) I also don't want to show my face so I just show my hands doing something or my environment.
If I’m not mistaken, Scarlet is a Norse/Celtic pagan practitioner that was once more into witchcraft. She still keeps some witch practices as she is a solo practitioner.
It's a living breathing saying the Earth is living and breathing you're singing r a the satellite telescope on a computer if you watch it breathe in and breathe out yours is actually living
