Yeah, but your portfolio is supposed to grow every year basically replenishing what you took out the year before. And secondly, it works with the assumption it grows like 6% per year so 4% for you to pull out and 2% for inflation . Technically, if you don't have to deal with crazy times like now, it should last pretty much up forever. Personally I think you could even deal with high inflation if you also get some years with higher than expected growth to even out the performance overall.

We were forced landlords as we got stuck in the down Market and had to move in 2011 for job relocation. Guess what? Pipes burst in 2014 . Had to spend $10k to Re plumb whole house as insurance would not pay for plumbing. Big risks with real estate. Just fyi

I am apart of the generation that was at the tail-end of the 3-legged stool. I am 52 years old. The meaning of retirement changed in my adult life. The 3-legged stool does not work. I am a teacher. I will get a pension from the state because I paid into it and I am vested. I have a 503b (like a 401k). Also, I will get something from social security. They sent me a statement with my projected benefits. My 503b went through several stock market crashes (nothing really in there). Social Security may or may not be there for me, in 10-13 years. Also, my pension algorithm changed to 20% of my income times the number of years that I worked, as a teacher. In contrast to my grandfather’s day, the pension was 100% of one’s income for vested employees and he drew social security at 60 years old. Plus, he had stocks that paid a dividend. By following the 3-legged stool retirement strategy, I will not have as much money as my grandfather did when he retired so many years ago. I forgot to factor in inflation…my US Dollar is worth much less and does not have the same buying power. I feel like I am working to end up in the poor house. I need to fix this situation and fast. I need Help!
@striperkid
@striperkid Год назад
Evetta, what happened to your 403b ? If you've been investing at least 10% of your salary in it, you should have a nice nest egg when you retire. If you fulfill the requirements to retire without taking a penalty (early retirement, or not meeting age requirements), you should be fine with your pension. Social Security should be there as well once you hit age 62. Sounds to me you should be fine once you're eligible to retire. What do you project to receive a month collecting all 3 at age 62 ? I should be collecting around $12k a month when I retire. I could probably live off of only $5k a month.

IVR stock with a high yield dividend has been stable for the past 3 years. It fluctuates between 10-16 dollars a share, but when the price of the share goes down, the dividend goes up; when the stock value goes up the dividend goes down slightly. The dividend fluctuates between 20-30%, yes, you read that right.

@sjchac Год назад
@@guillermorivas7819 you’re talking about Invesco Mortgage Capital, ticker IVR correct? It has dropped 94.96% since it’s inception in July 2009. You’re talking about Dividend YIELD. Yield is a percentage based on the share price. When the share price goes down the yield increases but the actual dividend per share stays the SAME. Look at the dividend history to see if they have been increasing or decreasing the amount. This stock has lost 95 % of its value all time. High yield dividend stocks like this have tremendous risk
@guillermorivas7819
@guillermorivas7819 Год назад
@@sjchac , You're missing the point I am trying to make. I understand it has substantially gone down in value, there are projections that it will go down. With all that being said, IVR has held itself for 3 years between 10 to 16 dollars a share. It fluctuates. As the dividend goes up the price goes down, when the dividend goes down the price goes up. The dividend yield ranges between 20-28 per cent. All I am saying is that parking 140k in IVR would yield me between 36k to 39k per year in dividends. That's something you would never get with blue chips because in order to get that amount back in yearly dividends, you would need to invest anywhere from 1.2-1.4 million dollars. 36k to 39k in yearly dividends is enough to live off of if you're frugal. Do the math.
@sjchac
@sjchac Год назад
@@guillermorivas7819 I understand what you are trying to articulate. I just think it’s incomplete/bad advice. This is a risky asset based on its performance. That’s a big reason why it’s yield is so high. Blue chips stocks aren’t as risky. Hence why yield is less. Forget the fact that it’s lost 95 % of its value since inception. It lost 40% from one year ago. It’s not fluctuating. It fell of a cliff.

Love your videos I am nearly 57 and at the moment my retirement plan consists of an old company pension plan in the uk and social security from the uk a 401k here in the states with my present employer and maybe social security here in the states. I am thinking about doing something else to save for retirement besides what I have at present but at the moment I have too much debt to deal with but plan to,do something

I really appreciate this. I'm beginning to have my doubts about my ROTH IRA, seeing like I would have done better in WM and QYLD. I know they're a bit more risky, but I'm still relatively young and can handle the volatility. What do you think of trusts? Are they an outdated investment vehicle?
@blktauna
@blktauna Год назад
Trusts are not investments, they are an entity to hold assets. And why not put QYLD in your Roth? You do have the money in your Roth invested in something right? It's not just sitting there is it?
@Toddalotapodamus
@Toddalotapodamus Год назад
@@blktauna My ROTH is in a bunch of Invesco funds like VAFAX, ACSTX and such. It's fully funded. If I wanted to go into QYLD, wouldn't I rather do that from Webull? No fees or limits. Am I missing something?
@blktauna
@blktauna Год назад
@@Toddalotapodamus check your accounts terms. You can put whatever you like in it as far as im aware. I know when I had a 401k with merril they restricted what i could put where. See if you can hit up the financial advisor your plan/broker/etc has to check.
@thorasguardselectrician2013
I had QYLD in my Roth a while but condensed it into RYLD. So it can go into your Roth, Roth helps with taxes for those ETFs too. My normal IRA is all mutual fund ETFs to avoid taxes but still compound at 5% minimum. If you can't avoid the taxes the high yield assets are typically not worth it after the taxes. Some channels have broken that down if you look it up. Good luck out there bro 🥂

Maybe that’s why they say wealth doesn’t buy happiness. Many people believe having money is more important than owning things that make you happy. You can buy assets until you die and never enjoy the money you’ve accumulated.

I just bid on a book called The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. It’s supposed to be the definitive book on investing in the stock market. I’ll see if I learn a thing or two. But immediately I plan on buying Tesla stock because it is a lot lower recently and in 3rd quarter this year they will be moving 1,000 of those funky looking trucks of theirs with volume planned for next year. I don’t care how bad the financial scene is you know there’s gonna be mofos buying that babe like crazy when it comes out. I just hope I pony up and invest in time.

If mom money is printed, it’s the greed of wanting that money is what causes inflation. If prices didn’t rise, people would have easier economic times and maybe even spend more.

Appreciate the video Jaspreet! As my parents told me most people get wise when they are too old. ( & ready to retire) When I got 35 years old, I started attending the meetings of "Primamerica" and paid for some classes in mutual fund investing and asset protection. They taught about everything you covered in this video. They taught some things that I would later disagree with as far as asset protection. Probably paid about $1000 at a guess maybe $1500 at most in the early 1990's. It was well worth the money as far as my personal finances went. Yeah, I did sell a few financial products too after I got licensed. I believe they are still around and the classes are lower in cost than a college class. Learned about dollar cost averaging but never really put it into practice because I had trouble believing in it until I hit about 40. I realized how much my bonuses had grown in my IRA's at that time and as my parents had me when they were 40's; my inheritance came a few years later. My dad was a great believer in junk bonds and in a way I was too at that time but I was even a bigger believer in stock investing by that time. My dad's outlook on his investing life served him well for a WW2 time frame person and their prior healthcare issues made me realize that it wasn't going to work for me. He had privately ran pension through a mutual fund company as no one trusted the union or the company for their pension fund. I still don't trust either but most 401k's are set up by a financial investment company as a sub-contractor to your employer and you get to control it, which was scary to me at the beginning. Annuitized and invested a large portion of my inheritance to avoid a large and coming tax bit just as I invested my performance bonuses over the years to avoid taxes. ( the problem of an engineer in a small company that can't afford to keep an engineer on their quoted salary!) I could always keep more of my money, even my lets go out and play money, if I invested into my retirement. ( like most engineers I liked money why didn't other engineers see this is beyond me. Dad always said that it isn't what you earn, it is what you can keep, his mother was a good business person in a very competitive business, farming & he & she gave me some good advice growing up. Got more good advice from her than him in the few short years she was in my life now that I think about it.) Young families need life insurance at least at the start of their family life. Any videos on your thoughts about life insurance? This is a protection that most young families are now having trouble affording the premiums and term insurance doesn't offer them the protection needed for periods of unemployment. ( lots of young Spanish speaking families in their 20's are entering the Mid-Ohio area) Perhaps you should get an honest Life insurance person on a video. ( I have become a believer in term insurance for things that can be lived without and whole life for the necessities in life as the cash value can pay the premiums for periods of unemployment. Longer run it is your cash cushion in the bank, the stagnant money, that will cover a lot of these expenses) Found your Spainish language videos and passed the link onto a young lady ( in her early twenties at work) who wants more out of her life than a 8 hour job, Just over broke= JOB. ( JOB describes her but she has an almost new car, and travels. She can't be totally broke! ) Can you change more of your videos into Spanish? By the way she is viewing the videos and I have offered her my advice and assistance in getting started in investing. ( free of charge as I am no longer licensed) Her English is poor but she is bilingual enough to get by. Also sent her a link to Codi Sanchezes videos as she wants to get into her own businesses, but Codi only produces her videos in English. She is a fresh immigrant who arrived about a year or less from Venezuela.
