Part 2 of 'How to rewind an electric motor' sees our rewinds and repairs expert, Kev, prepare the coils by using a winding machine. Before the coils are made, insulation paper is cut into the correct lengths and carefully inserted into the 36 slots of the motor.
Please note that this is NOT a comprehensive guide. Due to the vast amount of different motors and winding patterns, the rewinding process can vary greatly. However, it generally involves cutting the original windings out of the motor’s stator or armature and replacing them with new coils made from wire of the same basic type and gauge.
