How To Rewire a Trailer Using CURT 53540 Trailer Light Kit 

Thank God. Finally someone who (just) done a trailer re-wiring job!! I had watched videos for hours. Well at least two but seemed much longer because after each one I still wasn't any closer to being able to re-wire my trailer. Most of the videos focused more on repairing than on actually replacing the wiring kit. Some did get around to finally putting on new wires but they never showed or explained it from start to finish. You did a fine job of explaining each step & the camera guy did an amazing job of showing how you were doing the steps and exactly where you were putting things.

Thanks Curt and especially Matthew Sollman for this straightforward video. Even though the lights I replaced were grounded differently, I was successful installing this kit and they lit up first try.

I looked at a few different videos and yours was the best and easiest to follow thank you.

Do not use those snap clips. My wires are all corroded from one season. I just redid all my wiring and use but end splice heat shrink with liquid electric tape.

The beginning tool list did not show a socket wrench, which is mentioned to tighten all remaining hardware towards the end of the video. Great informative video though.

Tilt Trailers must be grounded on the bed not the tongue! if you ground on the tongue your going through the hinges and the lights will cut out when you drive, if you ground through the bed where the lights are bolted to, your good.

How much on average would a repair place charge for this?

I like the video. But, Why nobody never mentioned the self ground lights. The screws have yo touch the metal for the lights to work

Anyone who thinks this is a good video knows nothing about wiring. Never ever use those stupid blue blade connectors. They aren't weather proof. Looks like a small boat trailer. Yeah let's use non water proof connectors. That way we can rewire this trailer every year. Really stupid advice I hope no one wires their trailer this way.
