Had a trip yesterday that was 12 hours of gales and often torrential rain with 3 hours of rolling ferry in the middle! By the end l was going around ten to fifteen mph under normal speed and concentrating on getting home alive. Rain is a great teacher! 👍

You mentioned a lot about flash floods and the dangers it comes with, but I´d like to add that even in calm weather, puddles might hide really bad road defects. So always avoid puddles if you don´t know them. Thanks for the video, Nathan!

First day of my MSF was in the rain. If you can learn to ride in the rain you can ride in the dry no problem. Movie from the 90s set in army boot camp, drill instructor says "If ain't raining we ain't training!"

I made the mistake of wiping my visor w/ a microfiber towel during rain ride-smeared the water & could not see at all. Use the 80% rule ( reduce speed by 20% of the posted limit ). Putting rain gear on early ( boot covers too-latex type gloves ). My "waterproof" gear got soaked after an hour in moderate rain.

Staying dry (comfortable) is important, too. If your feet get wet because your boots suck or you're wearing cheap gloves, you're going to be paying more attention to that than riding (i.e. dropping out of yellow/orange into white).

Another thing to consider in rainy and windy conditions is clueless inconsiderate car drivers. Just last night it was pretty heavy on both counts, and during a relatively short ride through town i had at least three cars sounding their horns at me because I'd slowed down for safety. Not just a single blast, but full on extended "get the f**k out of my way" attitudes.
