If I was targeting trout, I’d use the smaller curly tail grub if trying to land more fish. If I used the fire tail, I’d be going after much larger trout.
All of the above and then some. Bring them in fast, slow, somewhere in between, bounce it up and down… depends on the jig type for me. If it’s got a tail that produces a lot of action, I’ll usually reel it in like normal with varying speeds depending on the bite. If it’s something like a gulp minnow, I’ll jiggle the rod tip as I’m reeling it in.
