Once again Thanks heaps Sam, i have a few more coming out soon then I will go back to focusing on getting back out and doing some quality fishing. Been tough time of year with some poor weather and many commitments leading up to Christmas. Your prob on holidays now, so plenty of time for you for fishing.

Been fishing fake baits for a while but the first set up with the baits that have the weedless slot but using a head weight jighead was lil new to me thank U.👍🏼 If ur not learning all the time then ya arrogant hey..!? Cheers brother thats TOPZ for me

Id do the Yabby backyard. They swim backs but with the hidden weight jh I rig my imitation prawn that way. Flattys love it.✌🏽 Great job bruz

thanks for the video Alan! would be great to see a video on how to set up a fishing rod rig based on fishing locations, for example rock fishing,river,lake,in what conditions ...what sinkers,how to make the leader line with hooks etc. might not be enough to cover all of this in one video but I thought I would give it a try. thanks

Thanks Denis its a really good idea. ill be trying to incorporate ideas like that now in the general fishing videos that I do. Just taking a little bit more time at the start not only to talk about the destination but also cover what im using and why and how it was rigged up. Its all a work in progress but the videos are continually improving hopefully this and some new cameras on the way will help.

I love the kayak videos so much that it makes me want to buy one lol but I'm yet to catch my first fish here in Australia so probably not going to buy it yet. In Europe I've been fishing at the river and lake when I was a kid but fishing here it's totally different to me and I'm sure there is more people like me benefiting from your videos! keep up with the good work! cheers

Thanks for that Alan, I'm never too clever to ignore the basics. I really liked the look of that stand up style crab rig at the end, they present a bit like the Cranka Crabs but a hell of a lot cheaper, how do they go on the Bream? p.s. I dig the retro t-shirt (even though it's still in reverse).

Thanks Garry !! I appreciate the comments. To answer your questions the stand up jig heads work really well on bream. Any yes far cheaper then cranka crabs. I have had success with them mainly casting near structure such as pontoons or jetties then letting them sink and only adding very subtle occasional lift, often getting bites on the way down. Its an effective way of targeting bream, I aim to use it a bit more soon. And yes glad you liked the retro shirt, im still waiting on the GoPro 8 Mod which will finally have all movies in non reverse which would be great. Thats not to far away, gopro have released the new cameras but not the mods just yet. As always thanks for the comments.

Yes that 100% correct swivels not needed. Join 1 rod length of flurocarbon leader to braid using something like a double uni knot and then tie on the jig head

Hi alan, with the yabbie, I threaded it through its backside only for the reason that they swim backwards, so jigging it will pull it up backwards , does that make dense ??

Makes 100% sense, I have actually been doing the same since posting the video, I find the pincers on the yabbie also have more action that way. Thanks for the comment.

Well done. Just started on the plastics. How do you select what type of jighead to use?

It all depends on the species your targeting and the depth and current of the system and the casting distance needed. Eg heavier if deep water and strong current, bigger if larger species. Small jig heads when finesse fishing or targeting fish with smaller mouths. I have a 90 minute workshop on how to choose the right jig head in the FishingMad members area that might be worth checking out.

Hey Alan, great info here, it took me a while of trial and error to learn that straight really is very important lol. Just one question I've always used the Gulp plastics because i found they worked well and they have a scent. But are the other brands any good? I like the zman grubs because they last a while and they don't get destroyed like the gulps do. Some sessions i end up going through 1 nearly 2 packs of the gulp plastics and it ends up costing more than bait! What do you think?

The gulp plastics work well, but I find the scent comes of them pretty quickly and they dry out after each use making them unusable. The range of zman stuff is excellent. Also I use on all my videos Savage gear fatheat curl tails, and progrubs. There usually $20 for 4 packets which is amazing value and they dont dry out. I have caught countless fish from bream, snapper, flathead, salmon and more with them. I hope that helps.

@@fishingmad yeah thanks I think I'll stay away from them for a while plus if you don't close the bag properly you have the scent dripping everywhere in your kayak stinking out your tackle. Not ideal 😂

Yes very true !! The smell of that stuff isnt great on the kayak. Thanks heaps for the positive comment. At the moment Im using Corel video studio to edit the videos. Some other great apps out there to such as Adobe CC Premiere, but it has a lot of features and extras that i dont need for these style of vids. Corel is very intuitive and easy to understand. Hope that helps, let us know how you go.

The jig heads I use are TT Lures generally a 1/16 in size 0. They are sold at BCF but I cant see a link on there website so you might need to go into the store. tackletactics.com.au/TT-Lures/Jigheads/Hidden-Weight-System-HWS Hope that helps.

You rigged the creature baits wrongly. Fish will take them head first so you insert the hook the other end. Plus you'll be better off using EWG weedless hooks.
