OUR WEBSITE: www.rogersrigs...
This is by far one of the best (and most popular ways) used in the Adirondacks in upstate NY to catch not only brook trout, but rainbows, and browns as well.
Roger and Adirondack guide Jamie Frasier ( owner/operator of Adirondack Mountain & Stream Guide Service) take their combined 50+ years of experience using these awesome ($12 pieces of metal) and how to rig them for trolling. As well as show us the tips and tricks of how they have found success using them.
No matter if you are a seasoned veteran or beginner angler you will find techniques and tips that will help you catch more trout on a Lake Clear Wabbler.
Between Roger and Jamie there have been thousands upon thousands or trout taken (most released, but some ended up on the dinner plate too :-) ) using these methods, and we are still learning!
So if you have some tips or tricks of your own that you would like to share with everyone then please share it below and get the conversation started! Even if you think we have no idea what we are doing and are dead wrong. Tell us why!
Links to what we mentioned in the video are below. Thanks for watching guys!

Great tutorial for the Adirondacks. Last week I caught a 23" rainbow in our lake here. One thing that makes trout difficult is you need the right lure, correct depth, perfect speed, time of day, and then...the fish needs to want to eat your bait. Trout are certainly the most tricky fish to catch up here, but well worth it. Honestly, I've caught them on almost every trout lure, San's lake clear wabbler, but those can help. When they are biting, they are biting! Quick praise of my father and the late Fran Betters who taught me all about trout fishing in the Adirondacks as a child.

I switched to leach patterns a long time ago due to worms getting hooked too deep to let these nice brookies go. I'm usually camping and only need a lunch trout. We need to preserve these beautiful fish. the catch rate is still as good with flies in my opinion. Good video but you sure let the secrets out......
@RogersRigs
@RogersRigs 2 года назад
yeah i hesitated to tell everybody how to catch this limited resource. but then again i think everyone should have a shot at catching a fish..... Good point about the fly. a lot of times i switch to something else just because this is too effective and doesn't have the best release success rate.

I caught many fish with Jamie and a few snowshoe rabbits also. Once I was live lining a sucker in some lily pads on Lake Durant. An at least 6lb largemouth inhaled it, jumped and got away. Big bass for up there.

You’re only allowed to have 2 lines per person in the water at a time so how would you start with 3 ?…
@callaway86

You can have 3 lines in the water and each line can have up to 5 lures or baits. Do some research Karen.

How would this work for Lakers? I’m headed up for the first time in June and want to hit both Lakers and brookies.
@RogersRigs
@RogersRigs 3 года назад
Hi Hudson, Yes this works on Lakers too, But if the lakers are hanging out deeper this set up tends not to get down there. (the drag of the lk clear and line usualy bottoms out between 15 and 20'. In june the water temps usualy push the laker deeper 50 to 100 fow For deeper lakers i recommend a Hinkley flutter spoon, trolled with lead core core copper (monel) wire line. If you can keep your boat still enough, another great way to catch Lakers in the summer is with a Swedish pimple jiging it almost vertically. (the same methods we demonstrate on the channel for ice fishing jigging Lakers. another laker trick is a big sinker. a 3 way swivel 3' up the main line and then a 2' dropper line with a big piece of meat. fish fillet, worm, or a slab of sucker belly. let me know which lakes you are going to fish and i might be able to give you some specifics

@@vengefulaug yes you may do well there. use these same tricks. especaly early morning and int he eavening. if you like flyfishing, you might get them just before dark on a dry fly

When in June? I just came back yesterday and struck out on brookies and browns.
@RogersRigs
@RogersRigs 3 года назад
@@wnyoutdoors8515 well it really depends on a bunch of factors. the super sunny days cam make it to bright for brookies except for very early and very late and the little buggers ate known to really only have an active feeding day once every 3 days. sometimes they just are not into doing anything. I'm sorry you put in all the work for no action. ive done that too. were they feeding on the surface or anything? had it been stocked in the past 3 years? sometimes it pays to bounce to another pond. or just enjoy the scenery.

Awesome info! Got skunked on Schroon Lake last year, might have to look for a downeigger to get down to the lakers. Definitely going to try this setup next weekend at Lake Eaton for the trout and salmon!
