Thanks for making great content. My sister's boyfriend is Italian and she'll be going to italy with him to meet his family. I've always wanted to learn Italian but now i have a reason too (just in case she moves there) And quick question, i want to ask if you Would recommend doulingo as a main way to learn a foreign language or just as an additional practice tool? Thanks so much. Have a blessed day mam :)

Hi Ree, it’s wonderful that you want to learn Italian! I use Duolingo myself, it’s a fun app and it can be a useful practice tool. I don’t think you can rely on it completely, though. You will outgrow it at some point ;)

Most of the time, my tongue hits the roof of my mouth hard making an abrupt "d" sound when I try to do this. Occasionally, I will get it right by accident. I want to learn to do this but I think it's going to take me a long time. Will I sound very strange to a native Italian speaker if I can't roll my Rs?

Hi Stephanie! I think you should keep trying, especially since you can already get it right at times, but it's not a big deal. Actually some Italians are unable to roll their Rs, too - we say they have a French R or "erre moscia". It's very common in some areas.

Sorry to hear that! Some people find it easier, others more difficult. English speakers usually have a hard time with rolled r's.
