How to Ruin a Citaro: Arriva The Shires 3909 (BU06 HSO) | MAX X30

Now numbered 3039. New to Harlow for Greenline 724, this became a MAX bus for the 150 when it transferred to Aylesbury. It’s now at Wycombe, still carrying the 150 branding for some reason.
And that’s it from me. I’ll let the video do the rest of the talking
UPDATE: As of January 2024 X30 is now X90 (with 300 now X9). Although after this was filmed X30 was withdrawn and reinstated about every 5 mins. Such is life with Arriva
UPDATE AGAIN: As of May 2024, these routes along with the entire depots at Wycombe and Aylesbury will no longer be Arriva when they close on 28th July!
This bus was working the MAX X30 between Aylesbury, Friars Square Bus Station (Bay 7) and High Wycombe, Eden Bus Station (Bay 11) via Saunderton

My one is a bit of an exaggeration, but yeah I've seen (in real life might I add) them getting excited over a bus going no more than 25

Oh Jesus Christ, that is absolutely tragic! I mean I knew London veg got wet over 30-35mph “thrash” on a B5LH doing routes just like the 25 but I didn’t know it was *that* bad!!! Damn! What a bunch of wet wipes they are, honestly....

Wow. That's quite something! 3038 wasnt as slow, but just as rattly and much tattier inside. Go Ahead down here have recently withdrawn all their awful Citatos, but after watching this I'd happily get one of them everyday.

It took quite a bit of convincing to show Central Norfolk Transportation that the Konect Citaros aren’t the worst, this one I filmed really is dreadful! Quite possibly the worst one I’ve ever done!

Unfortunately it’s true. Both mistreated by Aylesbury and then just dumped on Wycombe when they lost the 150 to MK (in favour of Hemel’s workings of the 500)

I'm assuming this has been withdrawn from Wycombe. Most of Aylesburys 2008s citaros are in a ďecent shape probably better Shape than the 2012s,

This one has, yes. The other transferred to Ware not too long ago to assist with their vehicle shortage along with a few other transfers from other depots I honestly don’t think most BV58/BK58s are in good condition period never mind better condition than the BD12/BJ12s, I’ve never known it to be like that but I’ll wait until I see video evidence to judge further

There has been a few BK58s that received an engine rebuild or something, those ones are alright. Sound dull but at least in healthy Nick. The rest I think not so much, especially if they’re ones touched by Wycombe which tend to be worse than Aylesbury’s regardless of batch

@@ChilternTransportProductions yh honestly, I've been on quite a few and they do sound alot healthier in terms of engine optimisation, the other aspects like air pressure on one of the 58s didn't recall which one but it's not really in its favour.

Omg this is so sad. Btw this was not for the 724 along with sister BU06 HSN this was a former 321 citaro. I will admit it was quite random. But they did the routes: 1,322,324,321,8 and 10 quite often. Not greenline. I must say I miss this beast and its sister bus roaming around watford. It's sad to see aylsbury have done this. I was aware the 2 buses transferred. But I hope BU06 HSN is still good. I do see the greenline ones. What beasts they are. But yeah great catch. Even though it may not be rare?

You’re wrong. 3908-3909 were new for the Greenline 724. There’s even videos of them in their original Greenline interior They went to Watford/Luton for the 321, A etc. and then moved to Aylesbury for the 150. Now they’re at Wycombe doing anything, mostly 32, 37, sometimes 1/1A, 300/X30 and 800/850

@@ChilternTransportProductions well I wonder why only those two went to garston? I'm guessing it was extra buses cause the 321 was losing buses due to more plaxton prestige buses than citaros. And besides the fact they lost 2 they got them replaced by the aparently EX green line citaros. My main point tho is this bus has been on a weird journey and it's sad to see it in this state 😥😥

It depends when Watford got them. I know in 2008, they took delivery of 3911-3918 for the 321 and that’s as much as I know

I blame Aylesbury maintenance. Wasn’t like this when it did the Greenline 724 at Harlow or Ware (can’t remember who ran it pre 2016)

Pretty sad to hear a Citaro in that condition. Wycombe’s definitely at fault here, sounded nothing like this when I caught it on the 500, but then that was well over a year ago.

I’m not sure that’s true. I think Aylesbury fucked it just before they dumped it on Wycombe, when they gave up on 3908-3909 They transferred just after 3928 burnt out I think

It’s not like Aylesbury haven’t fucked buses. The DWs weren’t fucked at Hemel but they are now at Aylesbury, 3866 was ruined by Aylesbury (it was fine at Wycombe!). And the 300 batch of Mercs are shagged out, in need of new engines They’ve also been known to dump unwanted heaps on Wycombe. As soon as they ditched the DLAs, off they went to Wycombe. 2495, unwanted and now at Wycombe. Some of the Citaros have also fucked off to Wycombe, including 3932

@@mrlizarb6 It really is! Buses that could be great if they were well looked after but it’s Arriva and in this region they rarely bother to, so unfortunately they’re in these deteriorating states most of the time 😪

Only because yours would do 30 routes but the X30 between Wycombe and Aylesbury has 50 sections. If you put a Cardiff Citaro for example on a route like this, it would easily outdo 3909 in no time I think even the Scania bendies could beat it too. This Citaro really is fucked quite badly

Let me have my guess. Aylesbury ruined it? This is the most painstakingly slow and depressing Citaro I've ever seen. I'm sure it lived a much better life on 724. I hope the other BU06s don't follow.

Yes, Aylesbury ruined it as soon as they got 3908-3909 (now 3038-3039) for the 150. But now it’s a Wycombe bus and in typical age old tradition, Aylesbury dump their unwanted heaps on Wycombe I’m also pretty sure they were in much better nick on the 724

No. I knew it was a heap of shit just from hearing that blown turbo on the outside. I actually dreaded this ride as I had to get it anyway but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be Still a heap, still don’t like 3909 but I’m glad I did make a video of it

God, that is painful. I don’t know why people still bother with these old Citaros when newer ones have much better furnishings (the steering wheels are good examples), and are just all around more enjoyable. I should know from the batch at Kinchbus.

Well they’re not all like this and older style Citaros are the rarest ones to find! Plus enthusiasts that film stuff generally go for sound over the interior. Will admit though, the Kinchbus ones are all around fantastic Buses, a shame they are getting replaced by E200MMCs in the spring apparently

Yes it is. It’s incredibly underpowered, this is one of the worst forms of neglectful maintenance I’ve ever seen on a Mercedes Benz bus that’s otherwise renowned for being a quality design
