@@theeddytor3490plural noun: ova a mature female reproductive cell, especially of a human or other animal, which can divide to give rise to an embryo usually only after fertilization by a male cell. “the ovum contributes one chromosome of each pair to the fertilized cell”
It’s not a bad villian name, but it only works for “daily” foes like those in the expanded media where the name of the game is fun enemies between the big bads.
Because it emphasizes her nature - that she can change into anything. She can become anyone because she is The Chameleon. Why is Tigress just called Tigress?
@@Kee_74 yeah your right they should've waited until they had enough money for all they cast to come back they couldn't even afford Kai and shen voice actors DreamWorks really fumble the bag big time the 5 were very beloved by the kfp fandom and wanted One of them to be the next dragon warrior or even tai lung bro
1. Zhen feels like a self-insert Mary Sue character. She's a fox girl who's clever and knows how to fight super well and manages to best the real main character with ease _somehow,_ and then gets given the title of Dragon Warrior at the end just for being there basically, even though Po just met her. 2. "The Chameleon" is the dumbest villain ever. Like, WHY is she named that? All the other villains have actual names. That would be like if Tai Lung was named "The Leopard" or if Shen was named "The Peacock" (like yeah... the Furious Five are named after each of their species, but none of the villains do that, and neither do most of the characters). She does nothing actually threatening throughout the entire movie, and her backstory doesn't even play into her being a shapeshifter at all. Imagine if she was denied training because nobody trusted her because of her abilities... Or if she was angry because the only way she could do well in a fight was by pretending to be someone else... There was so much potential there for a deep sympathetic villain backstory!
Just like Oogway choosing Po after falling from the sky. Exactly like this, but Po realized Zhen potential instead of just 'meeting' her. Like how the other contestants that wished to be a dragon warrior in the 'Anual of choosing the Dragon Warrior' that take place while Po and Shifu sit together (idk what to call that)
@@Zekrozma3 Tai Lung already accepted his fate as a spiritual warrior. We can see this when Tai Lung enters the portal while grabbing the chameleon even though he can just stay.
Finding out that they purposely screwed over what was planned makes it a lot worse They had plans to give the baddie a fleshed out backstory but they didn't allow for it up until they were nearly done Same with the uh, fox but idc bout that character
Tbh I don't understand why someone needs Shrek 5. It's the same with KFP, Toy Story and others trilogies (Or in case of Shrek - quatrology (Or how it's called? I'm just not very good in English)). Shrek 4 was a great way to end the story. We don't need Shrek 5.
I hate that zhen almost easily beats him, then she's just selfish. And their relationship just feels so plain and forced. Like honestly. I hate that shes the new dragon warrior when literally anyone could be better than her. (Or how she immediately learns po's move that took him like 3 movies to learn)
The difference between Shen and The Chameleon is that Shen actually showcased his capabilities of ruling over Gongmen city where he destroys everything in the way and people running away for their lives - which shows how truly dangerous and how serious of threat Lord Shen is. As for The Chameleon, all she did was show her fighting capabilities and telling her goal of ruling over China when she clearly hasn't even stepped out of the palace and she's already defeated.
Me and my ma rewatched the first three movies to re-familiarize ourselves with the franchise and I noticed something particularly important in the 4th movie. So Oogways staff gets broken in the first movie by Tai Lung. In the second and third movie, there is a golden band around the staff to keep it together. Pretty small BUT important detail in all honesty. You could even make a wise metaphor about it, things coming back together stronger than before. The band is gone in this 4th movie. The staff is smooth as if it was never broken. Although a small detail, I think it's pretty indicative of the level of quality and attention that went into this film.
The whole movie is very clearly written by ai. The most egregious example i can think of is when ping and li shen save po from the cliff. So they are on a sheer cliff, with a single branch, with no reasonable means of moving in any way that wouldnt result in death, and then suddenly they are back on the castle and talking as if everything is fine? The whole plot is driven by this river styx ass mary sue fox, with everything being able to be summarized with "and then,"
@@hadsyjiama9010 The wood is LONG DEAD. Wood used for staffs is no longer alive. There’s nothing to work with. And if there was, wouldn’t you think he would have done that in the second movie or the third?
I’ve heard they removed a deleted scene of Shifu meeting tai lung and tai lung forgives him and they hung as there both crying before tai lung left but it was removed because of the Director………..ok lets get our pitchfork’s
Would be cool if the city she rules was being drowned in debt as she overcharged tributes, just like in the movie, forcing po to find a balance between solving problems through dialogue and kicking ass
People keep saying "this movie is okay, it's still fun to watch." I disagree, It's genuinely bad. It's actually baffling how they set up "she needs to steal their kung fu to fight" but doesn't steal Po's yet can fight like him??? And her entire backstory is contradicted my mantis' existencr
I felt they wanted the fourth to be Po fighting himself, but the execution was done terribly. Should of just had him fight an evil version of himself from another universe.
More like some inner evil that has never been discovered. One that he’s repressed since childhood or something. Hate every series going multiverse crap
"Dhar Mann backstories" bro I fucking died when you said that. That's fr what it felt like though, all the chameleon had to say was "so you see" and it would have worked perfectly. But yeah, this movie was a damn letdown
Who put their fursona "Zen" (the name speaks for itself, actually someones OC at 12 years old) into the Kung Fu Panda fanchise?? Her design fits more with zootopia than with the rest of the characters in this movie.
@@amethyst137_ we don’t talk about it since it’s got none of the actual main characters so just think of it as a fanfic. They didn’t create a fourth move and ruin all our main chars and why we love them
@@Alpha-fi2dp but they butchered Hiccup's character in the Nine Realms and The Hidden World did all og characters dirty, while also throwing the entire theme of the franchise in the trash can for the sake of having the HTTYD books ending
KFP 4 wasn't the horrible, but compared to the previous 3 it's not all that exciting. Animation= Good Music= Well Villain= Just a female Shen with Kai based powers. At least she was connected to a character's past, but even Kai did it better. Also I think the shapeshifting was for manipulation to frame it on another person probably. They should've at least made Shen talk though. I feel like those 2 villains would have such a connection.
she wasnt really connected to any character, zhen doesn't count because we don't feel any connection to zhen. kai has a connection to oogway, a character who is loved
See how the idea started was the movie was supposed to have the main message be "accepting change" which i think is a bit funny considering the guy who made the film like it is wanted that to be the main message after telling stephanie the co director who would have actually gave us something we wanted to see she was a nobody
@@ActionPackedStudios79 a lot of the issues with the movie can be found with its director and writers who wanted it just to be a comedy. The co-director seemed to be the only one who actually wanted to improve the movie, suggesting ideas like shifu saying goodbye to tai lung and giving the characters more backstory. However, she was labeled as a "nobody" by the crew... Theres other things too, like how there was ideas for a live-action animation hybrid? I think we actually got saved from an even worse movie (You can check out the full interview document on the kung fu panda subreddit)
You know my main and only wish for Kung Fu Panda 4 was just giving Tai lung the dragon warrier title giving him a redemption arc. Instead they gave us this AI like slop
Ive never thought abt that... that would have been such an interesting way to go about it. Maybe through working together with po to beat the chameleon and communicating with shifu, he could have been redeemed or at least put on a very clear road to redemption to become the dragon warrior for real. made no sense that after po beat the chameleon he suddenly respects him too like hi??
There's no sensible universe that doesn't involve one of the Five - probably Tigress - taking up the mantle of Dragon Warrior after Po 'ascends'. They've learned so much and come so far alongside Po. It's absolutely ridiculous that this random-ass nobody swoops in out of nowhere and gets that privilege. Absolutely broke my brain.
The chameleon should have been better written. I mean a villain that can shapeshift into anything. A chameleon as a villain. Maybe she could be called Weizhuang wich means camouflage in Chinese
@@ActionPackedStudios79 Really? Better than just the chameleon? That name is so disappointing man. Why do the villains that have so much potential, end up bad? It happened with magnifico and it's continuing with Witch Weizhuang aka the chameleon
i feel like Chameleon could've been the culmination villain, the test to see if Po really got EVERYTHING down. she can replicate any physic, she has an entire organization of henchmen showing a level of charisma and intellect, and she's absorbing the chi of others to grow stronger. were the prior villains were notably threatening on singular aspects she would be threatening due to the balance of those three aspects and that results in the Po form making more sense as she's essentially becoming the dragon warrior so Po would have to get his student/s to help him because that would be the key difference, one is alone while the other has friends, allies, and people that'll succeed him
Not to mention how weird it is that po has to give up his title. Oogway was dragon warriour until shortly before his death, yet he was also a teacher and basicaly everything. Then po just hast to stop? Not even halfway through his life? She also doesnt need the scroll or anything, she just gets it. Not to mention tai lung had almost more screamtime and definetly more hype in the trailers, yet it goes nowhere. If any villian then he should be able to get a redemption and they could have done that and made a interessting movie
It's weird because Po clearly still has it in him. He beat Chameleon when she had the jump on him, I'd understand the change if his age started to hinder him. Put Po is in his prime!
Honestly, it won't ruin the legacy of Kung Fu Panda. People will eventually forget Kung Fu Panda 4 and will only watch the ONLY 3 movies in the franchise
An idea that I’ve had ever since 4 came out was what if the movie didn’t have a villain? After the first 3 movies challenged every aspect of Po’s character what’s next? What about having no villain and just be about Po’s internal struggle and acceptance of not being the dragon warrior anymore and having to give it up to someone else? That can make the movie stand out
Not even gonna lie, with how little evil the Chameleon did in the movie, I thought they were gonna have her go through a redemption arc because the whole movie's message is change, so what would make more sense than having the villain change from bad to good (and they needed her to be redeemable so they couldn't have her do too much bad shit)? But nope they straight up kill her lmao. What a waste of a character.
There is an even bigger mistake in the movie: Kai, after 500 years of trying to escape the spirit realm, who later got defeated and brought back in, now willingly returned after Chameleon brought him again. What, why, how?
I remember sitting in the cinema seeing Tai Lung walking towards the gate to the Spirit World and I hoped Po would say something like: Wait Tai Lung, I think you should stay… or something like that. And I hoped for a flashback between Tai Lung and Oogway talking in the Spirit World
Also, the chameleon is just called the cameleon. How more obvious does it have to be they were lazy and stoopid? Imagine Shen being called "the peacock" or Tai Lung "the leopard"
@@adamH.1 notice however, that it’s a NAME (or possibly a title; I’m partial to the idea that all five of the Furious Five have actual names beyond their species). The chameleon isn’t even a title, just a description, hence the “the”.
I was worried that the series was going to overstay its welcome after they announced they were making a third one. I never wanted to see kung fu panda become a parody of itself like shows that go on for too long
Something else I was confused about was how no one knew about 'The Dragon Warrior'. He's a nobody in the city. Kai, was even less known, the only literature of Kai was a scroll in the Jade Palace that was 500 years old. But some how The Chameleon knew exactly about the staff's 'rules', how to use it, who Kai was and so on. If the only reason Kai was known was because of his fight with the Dragon Warrior, then... idk, it doesn't make sense.
It's a shame they screwed up this movie. I haven't seen it yet but hearing all this It feels like it really was too good to be true. If they make a 5th I see only one way it can redeem itself from the 4th.
Zhen could’ve had an interesting arc: Both she and Po are adopted, or at least I think they are, and they could’ve played with that. With Po’s actions and words being a positive influence on her as opposed to the Chameleon’s harsh disregard for her. I know they try to do something like this but, as you said, they rushed past this.
The interesting thing is that the dragon warrior was suppose to be a person who appears every 1000 years, and master oogway did sense the dragon warrior presence, hence why he wanted to have this dragon warrior ceremony. This dragon warrior was destined to bring big change to the kung fu world, but also defeat a future threat Kai( hence oogway was ok with losing to Kai) In kung fu panda 4, Po has to choose a dragon warrior, just because master Shifu wants it.
Kung Fu Panda 4 : An unnecessary film that ruined a trilogy that ended perfectly. Toy Story 4 : An unnecessary film that ruined a trilogy that ended perfectly. Its so disappointing that both of these trilogies had perfect endings. But the fourth sequel ruined things.
I think the thing I’m most mad about is that they could have done the same as the 1-3 films. Like they did physically, mentally, and spiritually. But they missed one. EMOTIONS. A warrior needs to know how to control their emotions and they could have used this villain to do that. Or maturity. Becuase at the start he makes a joke “inner peace, inner peas,” like did he not learn form the other movies?
The first Kung Fu Panda movie had a super cool, super stylized training montage. So did the second movie. Even the third movie had one. Where the hell was that in the fourth movie?
They didn't even bother aging Po. Like what's the point of stressing that he needs to choose a successor when he is still at the prime of his life. If he was reasonably old, like Master Oogway old, it would probably make sense. But as we can see on the movie, he is still very capable. The plot for me isn't justified enough.
They messed up when they had so much do to. They brought back Tai Lung. TAI LUNG?!!?!? THEY BROUGHT THAT GUY BACK AND STILL FUMBLED???? THEY COULDA HAD A WHOLE REDEMPTION ARC FOR HIM!! THEY COULDA HAD HIM ACTUALLY COME BACK AS THE NEW DRAGON WARRIOR. I think everyone collectively agrees the fox girl(i already forgot her name) should have not been in the movie. And if she was still going to be it would be cool as like a potential new part of the little protector group. Like the furious 5
It seems that many people are mad at Disney and Pixar for making so many sequels instead of originals like Toy Story 5 Frozen 3 & 4 Moana 2 Zootopia 2 and Inside Out 2 for the sake of money, But then how come DreamWorks and Illumination get free Passes for making sequels and adaptations?!?!
I've been watching these films since I was 4 and because I've been with them for so long the characters genuinely feel like family too me. Like the siblings I've always wanted. It hurts my heart so much to see them ridiculed and or thrown out of the picture. In my book this movie is no where near canon, the franchise ended when the Amazon series did (cuz I actually enjoyed that series and related to the Four Constellations deeply) and that's that. No trash Netflix series and no fourth movie.
I feel like the a better way to go about kung fu panda 4 was to tackle po becoming a teacher and dealing with guilt. Like, what if he sees his villains in his students? That'd be incredibly interesting seeing his anxiety as a teacher trying to steer them away from a dark path, he'd know how oogway and shifu felt when their friends and students lost their way ya know?
It felt like Po almost barely started his journey as the dragon warrior..but now is passing the title for basically no reason to some annoying character This movie is called mid by a lot of people but for me its straght up awful for many reasons Also you have so much better editing skills than big channels like dazzreviews and only have 1k subs, ik people say it a lot but you're really underrated
You can tell The Camelion is older because she knows Kai and able to summon Him from the spirit realm. While back in the 3rd Movie all of the furious 5 even Shifu don't recognize Kai (in which the Camelion is also older than Shifu, considering the reason why Shifu don't recognize Kai because he already dead)
This movie is why the overhype of DreamWorks after Puss in Boots 2 was rubbing me the wrong way. I loved that movie, but they really should've stopped saying that DreamWorks is back and making better movies than Disney after ONE good movie. And that statement is definitely being questioned after this movie.
It’s funny how 2 years ago when The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish came out, many people on the internet were saying DreamWorks was making a comeback after having a string of average animated films like the Trolls films, The Boss Baby films and Spirit: Untamed and using it as an excuse to hate on Disney. Oh - what's that? NOW look - there’s are video released in hindsight of Kung Fu Panda 4’s release, discussing how DreamWorks is now “going downhill”. It really sure shows how many narrow-minded people on the internet will just automatically jump to the conclusion that a studio is returning back to its successful heights as in the old years, from just 2 frigging films, without considering the overall possible critical and financial outcome of the films following. Hilarious.
my king fu panda 4 (long ass movie) : shifu much like oogway passes on po and tigress very sad, po feels he should succeed shifu but dragon warrior is his identity, he goes looking for another dragon warrior but not whole heartedly and tries to put it off can’t find one so far and doesn’t know what to do encounters a chameleon who has revived tai lung yadayada he loses his chi and loses faith in himself without it but beats her after learning nothing can take away his skill itself and knowledge this makes him accept that being the dragon warrior is not his identity but a part of it making him continue his search and finally after still not finding the warrior check the one place he hasn’t searched for the dragon warrior, the valley. he chooses tigress and voluntarily succeeds shifus position.(everyone who had their chi stolen gets it back [kung fu panda 5 tai lung betrays his kung fu for sorcery as it’s how he lost to chameleon and faces of with tigress i think they have a very good foil relationship to be explored especially in this route where they end up as opposites having had the same childhood]) or make it a super long movie and combine the tai lung but for a great villain my concept would focus more on po and tigress than the villain
I was honestly really wishing that that the Chameleon would end up being someone who's abilities act as her curse; she can only be strong by being others and thus cannot accept herself. This I think would set up an interesting conflict IF it was written for Po to ultimately take her as a disciple or something, setting up the fourth "challenge" for Po after being challenged, as you put it, "physically, mentally, and spiritually" - for him to be challenged socially, or to be put up to the test as the supposed spiritual leader. It would also be an interesting way to pass down the dragon warrior mantle, I think. But oh well.
This would’ve be a good idea: once the kung fu villains and other Kung fu masters got their chi back, they run wild and don’t go back to the SR and escape. And Po has to stop them. Could’ve set up the 5th movie.
Mike Mitchell the director Literally didn't watch the previous movie and keep making the chameleon and the wolf girl absolutely have no backstory and keep thinking the movie needed to be short for kids to watch. AND THE HIGHER UP GIVE HIM FULL CONTROL OF THE FILM........idk what's bigger redder flag than That
how to fix Kung fu Panda 4 -make the chameleon have the obsession of "perfection" and not *wanting to be herself* just like what Po was thinking back in KFP 1 -make the fox have the same mindset Po used to have on KFP 1 so Po can give her some lessons -add the furious five bruh -delete Kai, he shouldn't exist anymore since this is a "love letter" to KFP 1 they should have just reflect some of Po's conflicts back on KFP 1 to the newest characters.
When I saw the trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4, I doubt it was gonna be a good movie like the original trilogy like how Toy Story 4 butchered everything the Toy Story trilogy had to offer. Now with Kung Fu Panda 4 released, I expected nothing less from it.
If the chameleon at least shapeshifted completely equal to other characters, like no apparent scales and no change in the physical form, and she was among Po the entire movie as Zhen, just to learn his strenghts and weaknesses to beat him, I think is a better aproach to a shapeshifter villain, you can't trust anybody because anybody could be her
If you didn’t know, KFP4 had VERY little funding which is why it only had a few voice actors. I bet if it had more funding we would’ve gotten a way longer and more interesting story.
Did bruh really say that Mantis is holding "20 times" his body-weight? Lets do some math Monkey: 35 pounds (16 kg) Viper: 1.5 pounds (0.7 kg) Tigress: 240 pounds (110 kg) Crane: 22 pounds (10 kg) Tai Lung: 121 pounds (55 kg) Old Bridge: 1250 pounds (567 kg) Mantis weight: 0.1 ounces = 0.00625 pounds = 0.003 kg Remember The characters are not stationary; they are moving and jumping, which can significantly increase the forces Mantis needs to support. When considering dynamic movements, the actual load Mantis supports can be several times higher due to the additional forces generated by acceleration and impact. If we estimate that the dynamic load could double the effective weight (which is a conservative estimate given the potential peaks in force), Mantis might be holding up to: 500,000 times his body-weight, not 20
The trailer made this movie look way more epic than it actually is. I didn't even notice the weird change in animation in the trailer. Nah, for me, the film series ended at the third movie, period.
My problem with Zhen is that the film never answers the question of why she should become the Dragon Warrior. In contrast the first film shows why Po a fat, chubby, panda was picked over Tai Lung a Kung Fu Prodigy. The conclusion to Po’s character arc was that he didn’t need a Dragon Scroll to be special unlike Tai Lung who placed all of his value and importance on having the scroll. The most Zhen learns in this film is that having friends is a good thing which doesn’t really answer why she should become the next Dragon Warrior.
I mean wasn't the first sign that they chose a director that made the 2nd trolls movie? (or was it the 3rd trolls movie? Point is I remember hearing that the director for the film was someone who made one of the trolls movies. Which immediately, I got highly suspicious)
This would have been better off as part of the tv series, rather than a canon movie to "pass the torch". I can't believe they plan on making 2 more with her as the main lead. Its basically Star Wars all over again. Ridding the series or limiting the usages of prior characters to make room for shallow, empty cut-outs for the newer generation.
