I just recently got my first 1911 and got it customized with some art engraving and new paint job. It can be hard to find a good affordable 1911 and I think it’s best to get a classic GI style I got mine from Springfield Armory for $700 and do your own custom work on there to make it uniquely your own. I spent another $700 on that so around $1,400 which does take it from affordable on up to luxury price but it’s a really nice classic gun to have and with the art work it just makes it a lifetime collectible to have!

My two cents... 1911 is for .45 ACP. (Or .38 Super Auto if you must) Browning Hi-Power is for 9mm. 😋 I have 5 1911s. All .45s I LOVE them, I do not always carry one, but when I do, I feel very well armed. I switch out between a Kimber Ultra Carry, a S&W Model 642 or a S&W .380 Bodyguard...all depending on my wardrobe for that day. When the weather allows, I will take one of my full size or Commander models, or a Browning Hi-Power for a walk, but I live in a warm climate and it is not always practical to wear an adequate cover garment for the bigger guns. I do not like IWB carry, so I am usually packing the Kimber Ultra Carry when I carry a 1911.

Forgot to mention the hammer half back safety, trigger won’t move with the hammer cocked half way
@stevepauley2437
@stevepauley2437 Год назад
That’s not a true safety. It’s really only there, in case the hammer slips, when you’re lowering it, so it doesn’t fall on a live round.

Yes, JM Browning was a genius, and he would have RIDICULED how someone mutilated that 1911 that you're holding, with all the cuts in barrel & slide, JEEEEZZ.

Would you have the mag release switched to the opposite side too? (If you bought a right handed 1911).

Oh,and the way,a 1911 has two reliable safeties,your walking around with a glock cocked,with a plastic trigger safety,you just dont see a hammer,but that stiker,unseen will kill you also?

Thanks for the great video. I'm new to the 1911 platform. If the pistol is in position 1 and then want to clear the pistol. After removing the magazine, is it safe to rack the slide and eject the round in the chamber or is it necessary to drop the hammer prior to racking the slide? Thank you

Drop the magazine. Rack the slide to eject last round. Rack again for visual inspection. That’s how I was taught to clear this weapon.

Can someone tell me what model his 1911 is?

Horrible idea to find out you have nothing in front of the hammer and it slips from between your fingers. Very much NOT safe
