How to run a 200amp MIG Welder off a Harbor Freight Generator (Klutch MIG/Stick 220 SI) 

From what I've read, if using an INVERTER welder, that using a generator that isn't large enough, will STARVE the inverter of power, if you turn the welder up to much, and in return could cause the welder to die, but TRANSFORMER WELDERS don't have this issue. I use a Harbor Freight Preditor 8750 watt generator and a Miller 175 mig transformer welder, I can run wide open at 175 amps. Without starving the welder, but being a transformer welder it would not hurt it even if I did starve the welder, it just won't put out full amperage. Great Video THANKS

It's not a copper wire. It's a solid steel wire with a copper coating. The coating protects wire from rust and also allows it to go thru the welder correctly and the gun correctly

Try to work standing up, and on a work table you'll be less tired at the end of a work day, a welding table is good to have as well as a welding cart. U can make both yourself.

I have a 110v harbor freight titanium welder. I’m gonna be using flux to begin with. I also have a predator 3500w inverter generator with 25a max. Do you think I could use my welder with this particular generator?

What gauge wire were you using for the MIG

Klutch is a northern tool brand. 30amps 220volt is probably what that welder draws on max. I ran a very similar setup about 7 years ago my welder was the previous model (northern industries).Ran the 7500 watt predator generator because I did alot of 3/8" and up plate with 7018 1/8 & 5/32 rod. Is your welder dual voltage? mine was 220 only and many times that was a hassle when the job was on thinner material that a 110 machine could have handled.

What size is your generator mine is a 3500 and everytime I hit the welding but he just keeps bogging down and then once-in-a-blue-moon it'll squirt out a perfect weld I think I need to check my ground strap

Yo dudes I used the same Generator on all my Welders. No problems but I'd like to make a comment or comment I'm not a safety freak , I'm not anything but a person that likes to have fun and welding and making things but are you aware of you just put the tank up against a hot Generator one side of the exhaust the other size inlet and that goes just as hot and the 1 side has to cover rooms I mean the whole thing is red hot that couldn't blow up any exhaust the other end is as hot as the same I know I had the same damn generator I couldn't believe you put the tank on one end like that I'm not 1 of these asshole complainers either I had enough close cases in my life.
