How to run Mods for DOOM / DOOM2 with GZDOOM ( updated see pinned comment )

I just what to say thank you. I have been trying to get this damn mod to work and it would just play the normal game. I watched other videos, didnt help. Watched this video, I got with in 20 mins. This game is absolutely amazing!!!

a warning for anybody using winrar, winrar does not allow you to drag files to run on another within the winrar file manager. to fix this get all of the files together as stated in the video and create a new folder on the desktop and copy the files to the new folder

Yeah... you had me up until the bit where you drag DOOM2 into the GZdoom folder. What file was that exactly? I've downloaded Doom 2 from Steam and there is no file named "DOOM2" listed as a "Doom data file"... trial and error time! EDIT: For anyone reading this wondering the same thing, it is the "DOOM2.WAD" file. Probably obvious to everyone else but I'm new to this.

Where on earth did you get those Doom and DOOM2 zip files? I have both Dooms on Steam, but don't have such files.

Every tutorial mentions having to move the doom files to the gzdoom folder but I never had to do that, it just worked, maybe the version I installed automatically did that

Ok so just drag the WAD files to the GZdoom launch file and it'll immediately play whatever WAD you dragged to it

Maybe you could help! Every year i do this, due to wiping my comp. A couple weeks ago i DL this and worked perfectly. Well i went to see if i could add doom64. Somehow, i screwed something up. Now when i start BD, after selecting what game, it just says DOOM: and the name of the map. Versus saying sergent marks BD. SO it seems the mod isnt attatched? The only interesting thing i find different is when i DL BD its in PK3 format and not RAR. Im not really a computer wiz, so idk what that means. Honestly im going mad trying to figure this out. Esp when ive done it before, multiple times 😂. I did find the zipped version of the pks, used 7zip to extract to a folder i made for BD. I even took a photo of what files i had BEFORE trying to load doom64. All files are present. 😵‍💫

How do i make a MOD-file? I wanted to play the "Metroid Doom" mod for Doom 2 , but i couldn't get my head around. Normal Mods are simple "insert here and start GZDoom" but man... i am lost.

am i the only one who noticed he was playing eric harris' map "station" in the background (eric harris was one of the columbine school shooters)

I'm trying to play the trenchfoot mod for Doom 2. When I extract the .rar file, it makes two separate files, one for the sprites and one for the maps and levels, and for some reason I can't run both files at once, so I can either play normal doom 2 but with the mod's appearance, or the trenchfoot level but everything looks like vanilla doom 2. Anyone know what went wrong?
