To keep the DOT from saying anything about burning oil put a sticker on the aux tank that says “the fluid in this tank identifies as diesel fuel”

Don’t think dot can say anything about burning oil. The part that is illegal with fuel is when you burn off-road fuel bought at a station in a o road application. Cause you don’t pay road tax on it. How can something you setup yourself be illegal? What about the guys making biodiesel ? If the dot dipped his tank it wouldn’t come back with red due on it so they can’t fine him. Right?

Thought for a moment that someone else was running oil in their common rail. Guess it's just me lol! I really want to build a 12v for my 06 with a g56. Although. Oil has been successfully running in my 06 CRD at about 70% waste oil and 30% gasoline and Filtered all the way down to 0.5 micron. Keep on keeping on brother!

Plumb in a fill for the Auxiliary tank and have a valve, so you can go direct into the tank or to the wand for filling drums

Heavy trailer.... also if possible get a non bypass filter for the tank that way when it starts to get clogged it won't by pass sediment into your gas tank.....

Put blocks under 1 side of your barrels so water doesn't sit on top of them. It will seep past the bungs.

@@thescoop5438 no I have no conversion on. You can run waste oil in any diesel maybe not the new stuff with the def unless deleted. I even run it in my 07 6.7 Cummins not a lick of problems if you clean it and not just use regular oil filters injectors are a way smaller micron the fuel or oil filters so needs to be filters to 1 or .5 microns I do a 20, 10, 5, 1micron filter sometimes for really bad stuff I do .5 micron

I have a pa biodiesel centrifuge that im cleaning the oil @ 5gph twice and running it at 200f+. My oil has been sitting for over 1 year. So it is pretty dry. I guess long story short , im wondering if you are still running your trk on wmo and what your recipe is? Tia

@@peterharder3091 yes wmo and I let it sit for a year in a cone bottom tank after it's been heated to 200. Then drain off the bottom then send it threw a 3 stage filter from 10, 5 and .5 micron then to clean tank

@@peterharder3091 Yes, I have a 3406b. It'll run on the waste oil. I've ran double filtered 3 micron @ 100% and it didn't like it. Very low power and a ton x2 of smoke and it caused misfires. When I do run the oil, I'll do a 20-25% ratio.

@@BrothermanTrucking Appreciate the quick response. I have a pa biodiesel centrifuge that i clean my oil first and i heat it as well to 200f+. The oil i get is hydraulic oil from my work. I was thinking of starting on regular diesel fuel until my engine is up to operating temp then switch over to my oil mix. I was thinking of mixing my hydraulic oil (centrifuged) with diesel 50/50. Then once im done driving for the day switch back to my regular diesel tank to purge the lines. Do you think that the 50/50 mix would work if it gets heated with a filter head hooked to coolant for heat? Thx

@@peterharder3091 To me it sounds like that would work. The more you process it , the better. Hydraulic oil is thinner than what I use. Alot of the oil I get is really thick. I'm curious to hear about the results when you get to it.

I ordered more parts that should be here today and tomorrow. I want to get it as clean and mess free as possible. Eventually I'll get those nice auto shut off handles but they aren't a need so I'll hold off. I can't find the one I need in 1 inch though so that doesn't help

I'm just curious about why you're not using a weight distribution hitch with a trailer that size. In my experience that would probably help with the bouncing action. With my 2500 I use them on anything over 26ft

Because they break frames. I've seen issues with lippert frames. I refuse to be responsible for that in case it happens. They blame the driver for everything

I run 40/60 mix in my 08 duramax. Been doing it for a year no problems. You just got to filter it really good an pre mix it. My method is 40micron filter with magnet, 10 micron filter/water seperater, 1 micron absolute filter bag. Then it goes in my aux tank to go thru a 15 micron inline filter to my factory 10 micron filter/water seperater. Little bit of work. But in our line of work it pays off big time! Btw I’m talking 60% diesel 40% waste oil.

Jeez that sounds like a lot of work but I'm impressed that it's working out that well. I'm glad I don't have to mix mine though. The fuel savings is insane. I burnt 140 gallons going from Carlisle to Manheim, to Myrtle Beach and back hauling a 34ft 5th wheel. At the PA prices that's $841.40. There goes my profit! Instead I spent 18.93 on snacks and had absolutely zero overhead on the run other than the company's percentage! 😅

When I first started I did 5 gallon of WMO at a time until I got to 50/50 an it was smoking an acting up a little so I backed it off to 40/60 it’s ran perfect since. I wish I could run it like you do tho lol. You’ve got to be making a killing not having to buy any fuel😂

I got a big 105 gallon tank in the bed of my truck and I was going to let you know if you go to harbor freight or Menards buy you a 12 gauge extension cord cut it in half run it through your frame rail up through your drain hole for your truck bed wire into the battery on your truck I remember where the positive and negative are on the colors and then wire it to the pump and just plug it back in that's what I did so many farmers do that it's cheap and easy wiring never had a problem with it getting hot or anything

I ordered a distribution block that will be here tomorrow. My aux pump is already wired to the truck's battery. Just need the distribution block so I can put a 12 volt source back there. Going to wire them both on the same block. I think it was like 15 bucks for one of those marine grade ones

Steve seeing if you can lead me in the right direction. There's a screen on the engine I have seen you clean a few times. If I remember right it's held on by 2 bolt (oval shape) with a mesh screen. Kinda looks like a exhaust gaskets. Tried looking for it on RU-vid but no one shows it/services it.

There's no gaskets for that screen, just an oring. If you look at the lift pump it unscrews from the pump without actually removing the pump. Get a 1 1/2 stainless tube the length of a barrel height and connect to hose with a siphon hole 2" from the bottom so it doesn't suck the bad stuff off the barrel bottom.

Get 275 gallon oil tank to put in the back or the box truck rather then all the barrels that way you can put a pump and filter on it from there to the truck

We have a 275 at the shop that just needs patched. For the box truck I do wonder what would work more between the barrels or the big tanks. Barrels are pretty much free and can be stacked/modified whereas the 275 might be a pain to move around if ever needed. Definitely going to have to think about it!

I'm guessing you mean the 7.3 IDI? They'll run on used motor oil. Probably not the best for the injection pump. The metal in the oil will reduce the life span. But you can get a new one for under 1k.

So if you go get you an extension cord or 12 gauge cut it in half like I said run it through your drain hole run it up through your frame to your battery and I think I ran mine it's like white the positive and green to negative and just take the other and solder it to your pump and hook it up and plug it in and then all you would have to do is put another cord in one you're transfer pump and when you want to use it just unplug that cord and plug it in like you do a regular extension cord and it'll be perfect just don't mess with the ground wire in the cord it just hook up for positive and negative I was just letting you know that's what I did a little bit of redneck but it works amazingly and it was cheap 50 bucks is all I got in it

I haven't had any diesel in the tank for 4300 miles right now. I reset the trip every time I need to get diesel because oil isn't available. After tomorrow I'll have at least 5 or 600 gallons sitting ready for use. I do run it straight and strain the hell out of it

I hope you check that oil for water/coolant before putting it in your truck. Some place will dump whatever in their waste oil. That was a nice big trailer I was surprised that it was bumper pull. Anyways good video stay safe.

Real truckers would leave that oil on to prevent rust and keep the truck shiny. We ain't talking no hotshot jennii or tow piglet here were talking real truckers. Ones that ratchet strap their exhaust on and run sheet metal dually flares.

No. I actually dumped coolant, atf, power steering fluid, maybe some water etc in with it at times. Just depends where I got it from. Anything but diesel fuel 😂 This truck very rarely ever ran on diesel. Only time I got real fuel was when I wasn't close to home

I am not against what you are doing with the used oil. But my concern is at a DOT stop and they check your tank. What they will say. You should also know it is not a DOT fine. It's a IRS fine and automatic audit. The fine is so many dollars per capacity of the tank.. This is will non road tax fuel. I wonder with oil.

Yeah, all used motor oil, atf, and other burnable fluids. You can only do this with certain diesel trucks. 12 valve cummins with the p7100 pump or the 7.3 powerstroke are the 2 that can do it

My neighbor runs nothing but used oil in his 08 6.7 Cummins. You just gotta filter it correctly and make sure there's no water or antifreeze in it.

I'm curious on the details of this because I filter the hell out of the used oil here. I just don't care about the water or antifreeze. I've literally accidentally poured 2.5 gallons of water in the tank before because it was black but that was just residual oil on top. Once I got halfway through it turned perfectly clear 🤦‍♂️ I ran that whole tank through with no repercussions.

@@CPSteveMiller The Bosch P pump is one of the most indestructible pumps ever made that's why you can run water through it, but if water gets into the cp3 common rail system it will eventually destroy the pump and injectors cause those common rails run at such insane pressure. But when you run straight used oil after a couple thousand miles the injectors get sticky so to solve that problem he has a water injection system to keep em clean, so when ever he notices stiction he'll turn on the water injection for a half a minute and that cleans em. Or when he runs a 50/50 used oil diesel mix then he never has stiction issues. I'm not 100% sure how his water injection system works but I do know the truck's his daily driver and he basically runs it on "free" fuel.

Miles driven devided by gallons used = miles per gallon. But don't even try to be exact just guess round trip miles to Maine (Reading to Portland Main approx 440 miles then back =880 miles devided by 100 gal = 8.8 miles per gallon, so did you use 2 55 gal drums of drain oil?

That I've never gotten confirmation on. If they pumps are cheap enough I guess you could always try it but I was told don't do it on any rotary style pump.

Never cooking oil or grease. It's mostly from oil changes, transmission flushes, gear oil, etc.

Hey buddy if you have a little extra money you can find a used fry oil filter like a magnasol machine and buy this stuff at a pool supply store called DE powder it will recirculate the oil untill it’s crystal clear down to 1 micron gets everything out even water if there is any in the oil. The de is cheap the filter holds like 80#s of fry oil and if you fill the tank all the way up like 4 cups of filter powder will clean the oil. There is these big franchise out called filtra buying up all the used oil down here in the south and that’s all they do with it when they bring it back to the shop. Have one system for motor oil and another for kitchen oil.
