A tip that's served me well over the years. Leave a little extra wire before it goes through the body and form a loop/U so there's a low spot for water to drip/run off before it gets to the body. Even though the existing rubber gasket works well, it's just one more thing to keep water out.
Thanks for this vid, I just did the same thing. Love that this allows you to run your own harness through the car and basically return the vehicle back to stock. It’s daunting to think about drilling holes or hacking into the harness of a new car
As always these videos are super helpful. Have been looking to get wires inside and i would have never thought to use that tape trick. Going to go with the trigger system as well. Still deciding where exactly to put the compressor since the spare is still in the compartment.
Thank you, Marquis! I'm thinking about changing up the compressor location myself and doing a custom drawer system. As it evolves I'll be sure to share and hopefully give some ideas!
Comment about an earlier video I made a comment on. I had another thought about the swing out tire carrier and think you're the guy that could bring a new concept/ product to market. It would be a "chuck box" or storage box that mounts to any tire carrier just using lug nuts. "The Josh Box". Man, the accessories that could be sold for "The Josh Box" are limitless.
lolol I still think that's one of the best ideas I've ever heard of, regardless of the name. They do that similar stuff on vans all the time, so it wouldn't take a ton of effort to do.
Good stuff, keep it coming. Slowly getting mine together. Primitive skid plates and I just put the LP rock sliders on. You're helping me make a list of what I want to do and prioritizing. Protectin first. Have you considered the Torq Locker?
Right on! Yea, we have and I'm getting mixed signals on it. Some say the torque locker is useless due to the CVT and the way the computer shifts power, others say it's the best mod they've put on. I'm just stuck in the middle.
@@roamingwithjosh I've got a torq locker on my 2019 crosstrek. It is my favorite mod I've done hands down no contest. We just got back from Moab and the other 2.0 crosstreks couldn't make it up things I could. The 2.5 crosstrek with us could but he had to use a lot more effort were as I made it up with very little effort. Its definitely a worth while mod! I've got short vids of us on an small obstacle and you can see the difference! I just need to post them.
Im wondering what AUX fuse location to use for the Auxbeam. Ive heard horor stories of people hooking their lights to to an aux fuse and coming out hour after ahutting the car off and their auxiliary lights are on. Does the Auxbeam controler help with this issue as well. And Josh.....I love the channel! Great info.
I have never had that issue. In order for the auxbeam to work you will need to have the car in accessory mode. Otherwise there will be no power to the switch. Hope this helps. Thanks!
Was the plate/plastic cover you removed just the 1 circular tab on the top? I don't want to pry too much on it and it breaks, I'm unfamiliar with how those tabs function
Trying to Install a switch panel but having issue finding a ACC fuse. Which ACC did you tap into if you don't mind me asking. Thanks in advance and as always great content!!!!
I too am stuck on this. There are only a few ignition only fuses in the engine compartment fuse box, but all of them seem either super important or have a cryptic acronym name and I am afraid to mess with any them. Currently running trigger 4 direct to battery like many others. been like that for month and half now no issue
@@Pogee941 Thanks for your reply - that seems to be only solution. Sorry for the beginner question here but what type of wire did you use to extend the short wire all the way into cabin fuse box? Assuming you just crimped the switch's lead wire to your extension wire(?) and ran it into a fuse tap inside? Thanks once again
For the black trim cover by the fuse, do you pull it back towards you or pop it out? I'm stuck on that part for just installing my auxbeam controller and I don't think I need to pop the foot trim out to do that.
This is the same way I routed power to my subs and to my switch for ditch lights. Everything I read on the xt and wilderness suggested the usual route through the firewall isn't possible without drilling due to the higher level of soundproofing.
Kind of random but have you ever had to take off the front skid plate on the wilderness ? I can't find any video or forum post on how to remove it properly
@@roamingwithjosh I looked a little deeper myself when I installed mine yesterday and there is one empty grommet next to the main wiring harness going into the firewall and another under the plastic covers of the wind shield wipers etc right up the top of the passenger side foot well
