Hey Pan love your videos. I have a question. I'm about to start the process of decon to ceramic coating. I know ill end up having to drive the suv before I can complete it properly. If I get through the the decon and clay bar phase and have to uses the car for a few hours before paint correction what's you recommendation to continue the process?

I have a brand new car which looked showroom quality when I picked it up 3 weeks ago - now it’s covered in tons of pollen. Living here in the Pacific Northwest it's always from one extreme the another extreme. Last week we were in the 50s, yet tomorrow will be approximately 80 degrees. I've become a huge fan of this type of wash style followed up with a rinseless wash for regular maintenance through the week. Great video as always Pan, this video is helpful for people to understand the importance of removing the majority of the contamination prior to mechanical wash.

Hey Pan, just wanted to thank you for all your work and information that you share. You've helped me break into the world of car detailing and I LOVE IT! Telling my coworker how annoying pollen is when I see this video! I've been just quick rinsing in the morning then blow and wipe dry. After an hour it's covered again. Any product you've seen that helps with static electricity? Lol love your videos and appreciate your concise and well spoken demeanor. Wash on brother!
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 2 месяца назад
There aren't many products that have anti-static properties at the moment. Two good options are the following: 1) The Bead Maker and Dream Maker mix as covered in my video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-twuTd2VNlxw.htmlsi=VmjqikzaaOvPMV4X 2) This product from Turtle Wax: amzn.to/4bKJV9X And that doesn't guarantee dust not sticking anymore. It depends on your area and environment, and it's not a perfect solution. There are no miracles against dust or pollen unfortunately. You can certainly try those options above and see how they work for you. Thanks for the positive feedback about my videos by the way, I appreciate it. How did you discover my channel? Great video. What I mostly learned here is the spikey shape and acid properties of the pollen itself, never knew that! After only the prewash foam, the side might show high amount of hydrophobics, but the hood, windshield and roof absolutely show how much a contact wash is needed. Yes it beads a bit, but very badly. That's always the case with the horizontal surfaces. Also without pollen very much needed to contact wash.
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Месяц назад
Yup. A pre-wash alone doesn’t make a car fully clean. It’s just designed to remove a lot of grit, and loose dirt/debris. You must always follow up with a proper contact wash.

It's a bummer when you have a love for detailing and you have to constantly battle Mother Nature. I live in a complex that is up on a hill. Within 10-30 minutes after drying my car, there will be a fine layer of pollen on the surface. My car port cover is metal and will build condensate over night, which will then drip on my car mix with the pollen and cause water spots. Great explanation on the damaging properties of pollen.

But nearly every 10 days i give my ceramic coated car a propper Wellness wash😅 first i let do bilt hamber auto foam its work, rinse, hand wash with sonax, turtle wax or whatever i have, rinse again and using a blower to dry it. Only for fun using a topper like bead it up or bead maker. Easy, no problem with everything mother nature send us. Only twice a year i use tar and glue remover, water spot remover, deironizer and all that heavy stuff. My car is looking better than 5 years ago when i bought it. Thank you! Good topic Pan; In the southeastern US we get the “green stuff” for a couple of months and then tree sap mist that follows. I make it a point to detail my vehicles prior to pollen season and mostly soap and pressure rinse but will contact wash if needed. The coating will usually last until mother nature is done and another detail can take place to protect from the spring showers that are sure to come. Wash, rinse and repeat-no pun intended.

@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 2 месяца назад

So, my situation where I currently live is not ideal for washing my truck. No water access in the building. I've been going to the car wash place and pre spraying with a pump sprayer, pressure rinse and then another pump sprayer coat. Then a quick bucket wash(if there's no queue) and final rinse. So far it's been working out but unfortunately the foam cannon isn't an option. I do apply a drying aid after the wash. It's a definite once a week thing because of the pollen and bugs. Koch Chemie Active Foam is only pH 9.5 so isn't really a competitor to Bilt Hamber snow foams, as those are way more alkaline (pH 10.5 and 13). Koch Chemie AF can be used weekly as it's safe on most protections, including coatings. The Bilt Hamber snow foams I wouldn't use weekly. Those are quite powerful and are meant for more deep cleaning decon washes. The Koch Chemie equivalent pour be Super Foam (pH 12).

Crazy pollen in Upstate NY! Recently had an instance were some water spots were unattended to for around 2 week. (Couldn’t wash my car due to a busy schedule and some weekend warrior ceramic coatings) During my last maintenance wash, I found lots of water spots, and what appears to be some etching. My vehicle is coated with 2 layers of Mohs Evo. Would it be possible that the slightly delayed maintenance wash caused the etching? Curious how well coatings hold up to this 🤔 Also followed up with CarPro Spotless 2.0 (following the instructions on application/wipe/rinse-off) and spotless seems to visually “kill the coating”. Luckily I hit it with a topper Gyeon Cure after and it brought the coating right back! I would assume it’s pretty odd, that spotless would affect hydrophobics of a coating. Long message but keep up the good work! Never miss a video!

I am curious on if you would use rinseless as your contact wash, removing the need for a drying aid? Or would you use soap for the contact wash that is on the acidic side to neutralize the high pH pre-wash and then use something like dream maker as a drying aid helping fight against the pollen? Great video as always

No need to neutralize this specific snow foam. Once you rinse, you can just use a pH neutral soap to contact wash the car. Unfortunately there is a certain minimum threshold of equipment you need to do a safe wash method. If you can’t use water for the traditional bucket, mitts wash method, the other alternative is the rinseless wash method. But you still need to buy a pump sprayer for the pre-spray as you need to spray the entire vehicle with the rinseless solution before starting the manual wash. Another great video Pan. Thanks. Can you do an updated video on best coatings to help avoid water spots? My wife has a black Audi SQ8 with an IGL Kenzo ceramic coating and it looks awesome when clean but it’s a struggle to keep water spots off. Garaged at home but parking lot at work. Here in Texas it will be nice one minute, then torrential rains with flooding for the next 30 minutes, then sunny 100 degrees baking the beaded water spots. Some success with 303 Graphene detail spray. What would be best? A good wax, a graphene spray coating on top of IGL, or something else?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 2 месяца назад
Regular washing of your car is what helps prevent water spots the best. I wash my car twice weekly. Also, I have a water deionizer setup in my garage, for ZERO minerals in the water and hence no water spots. Beyond that, there aren't miracles unfortunately. Because of the hydrophobic nature of coatings, they generate extreme water beading, and when that rain evaporates, it leaves behind minerals. If left unattended for long periods of time in baking hot temps, they can start etching through the clear coat. Every now and then, after washing your car, you can also use a high quality water spot remover like this: bit.ly/3UO1UX4 It's safe on coatings, and help to revive them when minerals start to "clog" the coating.

It depends on your budget and expectations. Not all coatings are created equal. Also, do you want to apply a full blown coating (the ones in glass bottles) that last for years? Or a simple spray on coating that lasts 6-12 months? Spray coatings are easier/quicker to apply and cost less, but they also don't last as long as their full glass bottle counterparts. How high would you go max on pH scale for a weekly wash? Here in Sweden they sell stuff with 11 pH in a snow foam and say you can use it every wash, sounds high...

Something like Koch Chemie Active Foam at pH 9.5 is probably as high as I would go for regular weekly washes. Unless the brand can prove their high pH soap can be used weekly with no detrimental effects on a ceramic coating. As not all coatings have the exact same resistance to chemicals.
