When Sal talks about changing Intensity before summer, that was me when I was younger, then i did Anabolic now looks are not a priority, feeling good is and my body has improved as a by-product. Who cares what others think, you look like, it's how you feel that is way more powerful.

For sure. Me being built like a warrior is a byproduct of performance>aesthetics. I don't need big biceps to look like a strong dude. The back does most the work

Wow, that is me. I keep upping intensity in all areas, see initial results, and keep pushing and increasing with volume and frequency. Then I end up injured, overtrained, and taking steps backwards. I needed to hear this! 😅 I’ll see more results with by time for recovery, and not going 100% every workout.

💪🏿I’ve dropped down to only 3 lifting days a week as I started to incorporate cycling back into my regimen.💪🏿 I now ride 4 days a week at about 30 miles a day. In a couple weeks I will drop lifting altogether through the month of July when I will be riding 50 miles a day for my annual Tour de France Challenge. I will do my best to lift 1 day a week during July just to maintain some muscle. Then I will start back with lifting 2-3 days a week again until late fall when my miles will take a big dip.

@@BuiltonGODSrock for sure. In the past I always just took the month off of lifting. After my accident I’ve taken a whole new approach to gain back my fitness. Doing 50miles a day for 23 days really takes it out of you, but I’m going to actually do it this year. It’s only 3 workouts I have to do in 3 weeks, along with 1,200 miles. I got this!💪🏿

Thank you for another awesome episode. I totally agree with doing proper priming appropriate for the exercise you plan to do and appropriate for the individual's "imbalances". Getting your prime bundle was one of my best purchases in terms of fitness investments. Would you alter the rest periods for the exercises you plan to boost intensity?

On my last set of my big lift i will go all out. Barbell row ill go from strict form and t.u.t. To ramping intensity and when my form fails i mechanically drop set it to penlay rows and start slightly cheating the bar up. After that i will rest for like 5-7 minutes before i try anything else and its back to normal lifts normal intensity.

I am more agressive with increasing my load now since being conservative didnt yield a lot of results. So I do an exercise a couple times till I get to ~12 reps each set and increase the weight next time; see how many reps I can do and try to do more reps the session after that. etc

I just started lifting weights again 2 days ago after about an 8 month break and last night I woke up after a couple hours sleep and couldn't fall back asleep for hours. It was so bad it caused me to call out of work today. This happened before and caused me to stop lifting entirely. Except when it happened before, I didn't call out and ended up almost passing out at work. I use the HEVY app to track workouts and yesterday's says it was 18 thousand pounds of weight moved. I'm an out of shape fat guy so am I just doing too much? It feels like a lot but doing anything less just seems too easy and like I'm wasting time.

I just got fabulous over 40, lol! I've just done the phase 1 exercises, and I couldn't do all of them or very many of the ones I could do. How can I build some strength in my shoulders if push-ups are sooo hard? Should I try using my couch (6ish inches off the floor) or just try every time to do just one from the floor?

I started MAPS Muscle Mommy last week, but compared to the workouts I was doing on my own, it feels like I’ve scaled back on workload and I find myself still wanting to do more once I’ve run thru the workouts. I want more intensity, but would it benefit me more by scaling back for awhile?

Is it possible to build lean mass on MAPS HIIT? I started that program along with a small cut (15%) after a reverse diet, and I've actually gained weight. Pretty sure it's lean mass. My goal is to lose the last few lbs of fat around my core, so unsure how to proceed at this point. Does anyone have a pro tip for me? ❤

The reason proper programming and periodization is so confusing is because there is no industry standard, and tons of fitness influencers with great genetics saying all sorts of different things. Renaissance Periodization does this the best, it really should be the industry standard.
@scotlynhatt
@scotlynhatt 15 дней назад
The challenge is that everyone is at a different level and trying to provide a comprehensive program across all those levels is way too much information. If a 50yo woman who has never lifted before is told get a better ROM on the chest press to increase the hypertrophy response, too many steps have been skipped to get her lifting in the first place. It is just really hard to cover all bases.
@michaelcozzitortoiii5350
@michaelcozzitortoiii5350 15 дней назад
@@scotlynhatt well in your example the very first thing she should do is learn proper rom and technique. If they are telling someone to increase or decrease intensity aka RIR then in this particular episode they are speaking to at least early intermediates who can handle proper programming and who are usually the ones confused about all the different information
