How to Safely Remove Dirt Build Up FAST from Braids & Twists and Detangle Matted Hair
So I know we all love protective hairstyles, but you know what we don’t love, “the build up.” Dealing with build up after taking out a protective style is so annoying. Its matted, looks gross, it feels disgusting and it’s just not healthy for your hair. So I have some (DIY) solutions for you guys that will safely remove build up from your hair. Hope you guys give it a try!

Same. I felt I just yanked it out because it wouldn’t come out. I placed oil in it the night before and it was still tangled. Uugghh. I know better moving forward now tho.

Omggggg girl there’s a special place in heaven for you. I have the most thickest unmanageable 4c hair. And my build up is always so thick when I take out my braids. The apple cider vinegar mixture really saved me. It makes it so much more easier to take my braids out. THANK YOU SO MUCH❤️❤️❤️ Edit: I definitely recommend mixing the apple cider vinegar with water as the apple cider vinegar alone can be very irritating to the scalp. But it works well:)

I tried the aloe vera option on my daughters 4a/b hair after removing box braids. I have tried erthing and nothing seems to really detangle with ease. I get frustrated and my daughter ends up in tears. But baybee the aloe vera formula is the ish!!!! I just wanted to tell you that I freaking love you. I used the Aloe Vera and vegetable glycerine mix, and it's freaking amazing 😭 I left my crochet braids for 4 months....so can imagine how damn matted it was from build up ....but this mixture worked sooo well softening up the build up and helping me detangle! Taking my braids down after quarantine. Last night I took out 3, and was a little bit rough combing out the build up, and my entire hair from the build up came out. At this rate, I’ll be bald 👨🏾‍🦲 if I keep going. Thank you for sharing. I didn’t think to unbraid all my hair and then spray.

This is the first time I’ve commented on a video but baybeeee! When I tell you the vinegar mixture melted my build-up like butter! 😍🥰 I don’t know if it’s the acidity of the vinegar or what! It also helped to detangle the rest of my hair after taking my knotless braids out that I had in for 6 weeks! GIRL THANK YOU!!! I have always ragged a brush through water soaked buildup and caused my scalp so much agony, but this video saved me today. I didn’t copy your mixtures (as I’d already made half an attempt at my usual method but to no avail), but I did have plenty of oils and leave in conditioner which I gently massaged over the roots and buildup! No one has ever taught me this, or anything actually with my hair journey, I’ve had to figure things through trial and error with my curls, but you saved the day!🎉 I just wished I watched this video 2 hours prior to jumping in the shower and pulling at my stressed hair😭 Thank you so much!!!

Ok like others have said this video is the best. I had my braids in a month longer than planned and took down today the build up was insane. I was worried but I went ahead and tried the acv mixture with the peppermint oil And tea tree oil. Just like she said the build up came right on out and no breakage from a comb. Thank you 😁

Ok. You’ve got me convinced. Trying tomorrow. I left my crochet braids in a little too long and was using a lot of gel around the edges to lay it down. But also, the buildup around the root of each braids was ridiculous. So frustrated. Praying for the best. But seems like this is an awesome tutorial.

Thank you soo much for sharing these methods! I’ve been going about detangling wrong all these years and would always have SO much fallout. I gave the ACV method a try because I already had peppermint oil and knew ACV would be easy to find. This was so effective and easy to do that I am never going back to my old ways. LOVE that the peppermint oil helps dilute the smell of the ACV (I’ve never been a fan of the smell and thus have never just had this on-hand, but the water and peppermint oil did wonders for that aversion). THANK YOU for saving ya girl time and hair in the process

I happened to have all the ingredients already at home, and it literally melted the build up (5months in :O :O i know) and retained length and thickness! I have tried many different methods of different videos and this was DEFINITLY the best one! my hair smells and feels clean-ish and i havent even washed it yet! Sharing this video. Thank you!

@@Jays81305girl I went with the Aloe Vera mixture. The only thing is i didnt have a separate bottle of vegetable glycerin but I went ahead with it anyway because the version of aloe vera gel that I had listed glycerin as a main ingredient even before it listed the aloe vera part so i assumed it had enough of it in. But yeah i took my twists out again last week only 2 months in this time and still had some more length and retention that surprised me. So fully reccommend that one. Build up just slipt out and i have much coarser hair than she does in the video. 4C with a capital C lol. Happy wash day

Very helpful video wish I would of saw this last night tho. I rarely get my hair done since I have thick hair I can just do it myself but decided to get my hair done since it was a special time. So I had big braids going into 2 braided buns with weave to make the buns bigger and only had the style for 2 in a half weeks. I had built up dirt and hard in some spots and thought well when I wash it with shampoo it should be good and not so tangled up I was soo wrong. I washed it and then conditioned it and it was knotted up hard for me to comb with detangled comb and my fingers was not doing the trick either and when I did get some knots out so much of my hair came out more than I ever saw. I definitely should of did these steps first Thank you so much for this. Sorry for the long story

I got my hair braided as I was having surgery and My left side would be out of order for the next 12 weeks! Long story shortened my Braids were so tight that I couldn't slee p on them! 2 weeks! I suffered! Last night I TOOK THEM OUT! I shampooed my hair in the Shower and pumped lots of conditioner on my hair! Big BIG MISTAKE! NOW I have a tangled Mess! It's LOCKED! This was helpful a lot, So i decided to make my own solutions I used, Aloe Vera (The actual plant) Water, and olive oil gel. To my surprise it actually works lol. Thanks

Out of your 3 options used.....which do you feel was the most effective? I have braids in now (4 weeks) and thinking of taking them down at 5 weeks. I struggle with this part....so want to use the best option for me. Thanks ☺️

Unfortunately for me,I did the big chop yrs ago😏bcuz I didn't have no idea what do/use to get rid of the buildup🤦🏽‍♀️3mths lesson learned for me.But my hair growed so much pass my shoulders🤗
